Chapter 4

My mate stormed in, my outraged brother trailing close behind him. My wolf howled happily at the sight of Alpha Logan, my heart beating erratically although a frown was currently marring his otherwise perfect face. "Chelsea,-" my wolf was ecstatic as he said our name, those two syllables sounding so right on his tongue, "pack what you need."

Jake wasted no time in glaring at my mate, before turning to me. "Chels don't listen." He pleaded. My mate growled at him then, my body reacting immediately as lust pooled within me.

"You don't have the right to order her around; she is my mate, not yours!" He snapped. Jake's glare was unwavering, making my wolf growl at our brother's expression.

"She is my sister; I have known her for much longer than you have! If anything, I'm the only person who can order her around."

My mate moved until he towered an inch away from my brother. "I dare you to defy me one more time pup and I'll make sure you never do again." He said as his eyes turned black, his wolf taking over.

My brother opened his mouth to respond but I moved in between them, silencing him. "What the hell is going on here?!" I demanded.

My mate wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me to his side. "You're coming to live with me." He said, growling at my brother when Jake tried to reach out to me.

"No, you're not Chels." Jake said, gripping my wrist despite my mate's efforts to scare him off. He tugged on my arm, making Alpha Logan's arms tighten around my waist. They began playing tug of war with me as the rope, Jake hanging onto my arm and my mate gripping my waist tightly.

A moment later, Dylan walked through my doorway as well. Despite my situation, I couldn't help but notice the size of the slice he'd taken from my cake, sitting on the plate in his hand. "Hey Ch-" he stopped short upon seeing the scene before him. He rushed to put the plate safely on my dresser before moving to my brother's side. "Jake, what are you doing?!" He asked as he tried to pry my brother's fingers from my wrist.

Jake's glare turned on him. "You're supposed to be helping me!"

"You're going to break your sister." Dylan argued, continuing to pull on Jake's hands.

My mate growled once more. "Stop, you're distressing her!" My waist and wrist began to ache from both of their grips. "Release her right now!" Alpha Logan commanded.

"No y-" before he could finish the sentence, a ferocious growl tore past my lips, the sound resonating throughout the room. All three of them stopped what they were doing, watching me with wide, shocked eyes.

"All of you stop it!" It felt rude to be talking to them that way, especially because they were all older and of higher rank than I was, but I had no other choice. If they were going to act like children fighting over a toy then I had to be the adult. "It's my choice." I stated, crossing my arms after ripping the one Jake had a hold on, out of his grasp.

"Chels, you don't know what he's really like. If you go with him, you can't even begin to understand what you're getting yourself into." I felt my mate's muscles tense at Jake's words.

"Do you know?!" I demanded, glaring at him. "Because if you do, please enlighten me!"

"People say that-" I held my hand up.

"Exactly, people say, not you. It's. My. Decision." I said slowly, stressing on each word. "Let me make it!"

Jake narrowed his eyes. "Well then, what do you choose?!" He bellowed, watching me with a mix of agitation and caution in his eyes as he too crossed his arms.

When the consequences of my two potential decisions dawned on me, I subconsciously took a small step back, bumping into my mate. I had no idea what to do, so I turned to my wolf for her choice. Who do we go with, our brother or our mate? She whimpered at the thought of being separated from either one of them.

She was silent for what felt like an eternity before she responded. I want to go with our mate. She finally admitted. I thought it over and hesitantly agreed with her. I loved my brother but every wolf couldn't live without his or her mate and mine was standing just a few inches from me. He might be a stranger for now but wasn't that the point of going with him; to get to know him better?

I mind linked with Jake. I'm sorry JakeI'm going with him. I heard him growl. Why would you do that Chels, he's dangerous! I can't trust him with you. He pleaded. We already had this talk, Jake. If you can't trust him, trust me. I'll make sure he doesn't harm me, I promise.

I need him, Jake. He's my mate. I'll come visit you when I can, I promise. He sighed. I do trust you, but that still doesn't make me worry any less. After a few minutes of consideration, he hesitantly agreed. Don't hesitate to call me if you need anything alright? I love you Chels, and that is the only reason I'm letting you do this. I don't care if he is your mate, I still don't trust him.

Although I could sense his defiance towards this decision, when it came down to it, Jake knew that he didn't really have a choice in this matter. After all, my mate was Alpha Logan; he could easily destroy our pack with a snap of his fingers within a few measly hours, if not minutes. No matter what I decided, I was still probably going to end up at Blood Moon anyway. My decision to go willingly just made things easier for everyone.

"I know."

Jake turned to my mate and glared. "Don't do anything to make me regret my decision." He snapped.

"Don't you dare threaten me!" My mate bellowed as his eyes turned black.

"Jake!" I snapped in a disapproving tone. When my eyes fell on the defeated look on his face, my anger deflated. It took a lot of effort but I finally managed to get out of my mate's grasp. I hugged my brother tightly. "Be smart about this Jake; don't make rash decisions over me."

I felt him nod. "Just be safe. The pack and I will always be here if you need us."

"Thank you." I said, quietly.

He nodded. "I understand what's at stake. I'm just not happy with this." He grumbled before pressing a kiss to my forehead. He gave me one last glance before walking out.

I stared out the window of the SUV as it made its way to Alpha Logan's house, the trees outside blurring past in a mix of green and brown. My mate sat stiffly, staring ahead as one of the shifters from his pack drove us, handling what was probably pack business on his phone.

It hadn't taken me very long to pack so we had started our journey after only an hour since Jake and Alpha Logan's disagreement. I gripped my new cell phone tightly in my hand throughout the whole drive. My wolf felt a slight pain from separating from Jake but she was absolutely ecstatic that we were going to be so close to our mate. I inhaled deeply and relaxed as his delicious scent filed my lungs.

Half an hour later, the car pulled up outside what closely resembled a mansion, the white structure standing majestically in the middle of a clearing rimmed by a dense forest. The whole thing was two storeys high with a wrap around, stone porch. The doors were made of some kind of dark wood and led into a beautiful foyer. I noticed that the whole house was decorated in creams, white and rich hues of red as we passed the living room.

The ground floor seemed like a maze to me as we took one turn after another, finally arriving at what he explained would be my room. After explaining where everything was, he left to take care of pack business, only bothering to tell me he was doing so before he disappeared. I didn't think anything of it as I wandered around the room, taking in what would be my home for God-knows how long. After inspecting every inch of my new room, I decided to go explore the rest of the house.

I slipped out the door, threading carefully as I worked on trying to find the way from which we had come earlier. My foot caught on a part of the hallway's carpeted floor a few feet from my door. I caught myself at the last minute, landing in a crouch instead of on my face. I returned to my feet as I dusted myself off, hoping no one was here to see that.

I glared at that part of the floor as if it had a say in what had happened before refocusing on locating something familiar. After what felt like thirty minutes, I finally managed to get back to the living room through the endless corridors of this massive home. I noticed what looked like a kitchen, which easily caught my attention. My wolf happily agreed as my stomach rumbled.

I pulled the fridge open and popped my head in, scanning for anything that looked good. The sound of footsteps had me tense immediately. I shut the fridge and extended my claws as I prepared to attack anyone that came through the door. A guy came in, his eyes narrowing as he studied me. "Who are you?" He demanded, his voice hard.
