Chapter 7

The past 16 days have been...surprising.

My dad and Azazel started my training for the battle. Sometimes, I find it hard to believe that Azazel is a vicious prince of the underworld with so many stories to his name. Yes, sometimes he has a stoic expression and looks 'evil' but he truly doesn't act the part... around me that is.

Right now he is trying to calm me down. I accidentally read the wrong person's mind during the training session and gave him the wrong signal which ended up with him having a bruised hand and me weeping endlessly like the drama queen I am. His hand healed about 15 minutes ago but here I am, still crying.

After my emotional voyage, we decided to end the training and head home. My mom already made dinner and so i just took a shower and ate.

The next morning, I sat at the breakfast table with my angry brother scowling at me. We told him about me a week after i found out and still he was mad at me for not telling him immediately. I knew he would eventually come around.

"Bella." My dad called from the other end of the table. I turned towards him with questioning eyes.

"For your training today, you'll be facing the legions... to a death match." He said hesitantly. Did he want to kill me? The legions are brutal to the core.

"Do i get to plan my burial?" I asked sarcastically. "This is not a joke Annabella. We're running out of time." That was the voice of my knight in shinning armour, who promised to protect me with his life and for the past week, has sworn his love for me could never end. He was throwing me to the legions when he knew they could be controlled by our enemy.

I decided this coversation was to be hidden in our thoughts and so i used my powers.

"Do you love me?" I asked.

"Ofcourse I love you. You know that." He responded.

"Actually i'm not sure you do 'cause you're willing to let me fight the legions, knowing fully well that Killian controls them." My voice was laced with so much confusion and if i might add, slight anger.

"The legions you will be fighting, I control. They hurt you, they hurt me." He said.

"Then why am I fighting them if it is a death match." I asked.

"Well, they won't kill you but they also wouldn't hesitate to hurt you." He responded sadly.

I'm definitely going to struggle in this one. My first near death experience it was going to be.

We arrived at a secluded warehouse in the middle of nowhere. It outlooked a beautiful beach and the sun was setting. I was pulled out of my thoughts by a loud screech that sounded like someone's limbs were being ripped off.

"Well it seems they are excited to meet you." My dad commented. Azazel just squeezed my hand tighter as my my father glared at our intertwined hands. He never got used to the fact that I and Azazel love each other. Certainly, he was as nervous as i was. He could control then taking my life but he couldn't control them hurting me.

We walked towards the door as my dad pulled it open. We headed down the stairs to what looked like an underground stadium. It was dark and musty. You could definitely smell death.

He turned the single spotlight under which i was standing on, as everyone took a seat at the stand. The fighting area was covered in some kind of dome and i was the only one inside it. Azazel mouthed a silent 'I love you.'

Once it was locked, dark figures started to imerge from the shadows. They stood away from the light and in the blink of an eyes the light above me went dark.

Focus... focus... focus.

I kept chanting to myself and then I heard it.

"Straight for the head." I heard one of the legions say. I moved to the side as i saw a hand come flying past my face. I grabbed the hand and threw the owner to the ground. I did that.

Soon enough, I was predicting every move the attackers made and each of them dropped to the ground like flies.

I kept going, letting my mind overpower my sense of sight.

I kept going but I was getting tired and then all the thoughts stopped. Something's wrong. The legions were meant to keep coming until I can't fight anymore. In the middle of my thoughts, i was slammed to the ground and my body wrecked in pain.

None of the legions can control their thoughts, this is impossible.

I was again picked up from the ground and flung across the arena. I did the only reasonable thing there was to do.

"Azazel! Help!"

I felt it grab onto my arm and twist. The sound of my bone breaking sent the vibrations of a scream through my body. I was once again flung to the other end of the arena when the spotlight turned on.

It was a legion but not one of Azazel's. It had red eyes not yellow. It slowly made it's way towards me as i took my fighting stance. Even with a broken arm, I wasn't going to die easily.

It took a hold of my neck and I tried to punch it with my other hand but It took a hold of it and snapped my wrist before sending me to the ground, another horrific scream escaping my mouth.

"Bambina!" I heard Azazel scream and the legion vanished into thin air. He came running to my side, uttering soothing words but i was already on my way back to the blissful void.

Everything just went... Dark.

I woke of to the steady beeping. The lights were too bright. Where am i? I asked myself. When i finally got them open, i realised i was in a hospital. My two arms were in casks and i was Connected to a bunch of wires.

"Miss Romano, can you hear me?" The doctor standing above me asked.

"Yes. Can i have some water?" I muttered under my breath. I was exhausted. He did some routine checks and left to get my family and the love of my life.

Within a few minutes, Azazel came running into my room. "I'm so so sorry, mi amore." He started. He looked like he hadn't slept in a while. That or he had been crying.

"How long have I been here?" I asked. "Two weeks. How do you feel?" Well, I was out for two weeks but I didn't want him to be more worried than he already was.

"I'm good babe." I said with a smile and he smiled back. "I have a question though, how did that demon get to me?" I asked.

"We've been trying to figure that out since the incident. We took you there because we were sure only the people in the house knew where we were going. The presumed answer is, someone we trust is betraying us."

I was in shock. Why would someone close to us betray us. Who would it be?

Mirror mirror on the wall,
Who is the betrayer of them all?🧐
Well readers,
we'll find out soon.
