Chapter 4
The day came where I face life's great adventure, just joking, i was going to a goddamn ball. I was going to this ball with my boss, that hasn't left my house since he came. Truthfully, I... don't hate it.
He even took the liberty to buy me a dress for the event. So, I took a shower and did my routine, to get started on this makeup. I went with a natural look and let my wavy hair down, past my shoulders. The dress he got me was a beautiful midnight black dress that hugged every curve in my figure. It was the perfect fairytale dress, only that my prince wasn't taking me as his princess, but his assistant.
When I got to the bottom of the stairs, my mom of course showered me with so many praises. As far as i can remember, she's my biggest cheerleader. I went on to look for my escort but he was nowhere to be found, until i heard muffled voices coming from my dad's study. I leaned on my door to hear what they were saying.
"She has to know Arthuro." Spoke my boss. What do I have to know? I asked myself. "I have to keep her away from the cross fire." My dad replied.
"She needs to know why your protecting her. Besides, she the strongest telepath I know." Telepath? I wondered if they were even talking about me.
"She already knows who you are, but don't tell her who she is yet." My dad begged. "Fine." Was all he said before moving out of his chair. I quickly walked to the kitchen where my mother was and she just kept the praises coming, like an overflowing tap.
"Shall we." He said with a extended arm. I put my palm in his and we made our way to the car.
As we drove in silence, his words caught my attention. "You look beautiful." And in the blink of an eye, my cheeks were red. Even the slight melanin wasn't helping. I turned my face to the window and said, "Thank you, you look handsome if I must say."
Azazel's POV
She said I looked handsome, hmm. I feel something for her and i don't know what it is. Just those words from her had me swooning and a demon doesn't swoon, talk more of the prince of hell.
I knew she heard part of what was said in her father's study, but honestly i don't care. I want her to discover herself as soon as possible. Her 'father' just doesn't want to let her go yet. When the time is right, i'll make sure she knows.
We got to the event and i opened the door for her. She mumbled a 'thank your' that only I could hear. "You ready?" I asked her. She nodded and we made our way to the entrance. My only priority was to protect her at all costs and to scope out the target. The one person that wanted her dead was going to be in the same room as her, but he was no match for me.
Original POV
One word, elegant. This ball was beautiful, although i have never been to a different ball that i can compare, but this was beautiful. There were paintings and sculptures on every side of the room. Intricate gold designs and crystal like chandeliers that hung from the ceiling. Not to mention, the people in here reeked of wealth and power.
As far as I know, it was all about getting new business partners. That's what he told me. We wondered into the event indulging in conversations with other people and talking about new developments that should be implemented. We walked and walked and my feet became sore from these heels. I needed to sit down and besides, people kept referring to me as his wife and he said nothing to contradict them which made me a blushing mess.
I headed to the bar on my own while he remained with the different business men and women. I just ordered the first mocktail on the menu.
I had spent a while at the bar when someone's hand touched my shoulder which scared me a little. My gazed swiftly moved from my phone to the person and there stood my boss. "May i have this dance?" He asked and i took his hand.
He led me to the dance floor while smiling at me. He placed his hands on my waist and i visibly shudered making him smirk. I placed mine on his shoulders and we began to sway to the music. "I have to tell you something." He spoke. "Okay boss." I replied.
He looked me dead in the eyes with a frown on his face and said, "First of all, stop calling me boss. You know my name." I did but he made me feel like that day never happened. "But I work for you, boss." I said. "I won't repeat myself. Next time, i'll make sure you're screaming my name." And there it was, the words that shifted my being.
"Anyways, back to what I wanted to tell you. My name is Azazel. A prince of hell, meaning i am not human but I will not hurt you." I let out an ear ringing laugh that seemed to amaze him. "Are you trying to scare me?" I asked still giggling. "That is my last wish, Bambina." I looked up at him and found it, what i had been looking for. His eyes once again were engulfed in those furious flames that shone brightly. I was speechless. But what terrified or should I say amazed me more, was that no one seemed to care that the eyes of the man before me were glowing.
"Most of them are also not human, if you're wondering." He spoke. His eyes had returned to the normal green colour they possessed. I just knew it from the day I first saw him. He was too perfect a person to be human and so we stood there in the middle of the ball room, not dancing but staring at each other.
