Keep Up
The next morning was quiet, Dean stayed home and was able to work from the home office and I went and had brunch with my parents before heading over to the Giles residence.
Of course Mr Giles was at the lumberyard which left me all alone with Lola.
"I'm so excited you've come by to visit me." She gushed as she pulled me in for another tight embrace. "I mean I figured with you and Dean as the Alpha and the Luna you two would be too busy for us, oh doll I'm just so glad to have you here."
I smiled but felt anxious.
"So, what brings you by honey?"
I looked up at the always energetic Lola, "well I wanted to come by and tell you that Your nephew Jaxon has accepted the role of Dean's Beta."
She clapped her hands, "oh he's going to do great, Jax and Dean were like two little peas in a pod when they were younger..." Then she stopped mid-sentence. "Oh but sweetie we've got a ceremony and dinner to get ready, oh my we haven't much time either...perhaps I should call Gigi and see if she can find us a venue large enough for all of us, oh and the food....-"
"Lola can I please say something?"
She stopped and nodded with a soft smile.
"I greatly appreciate all that you've done and continue to do for Dean and I, but if I'm ever going to get the hang of this whole Luna thing...I think it'd be best if I tried to do this by myself, and hey, if I fail...well at least I'll know it was me as a sucky Luna."
She pulled me into one of her familiar tight hugs, "my sweet Cassandra, a ruined party isn't a sign of a good or bad Luna, a good Luna thinks of her people first and takes responsibility head on, the rest, nothing to stress about."
"I just don't want you to feel like I don't want your input, because I know there's a lot I'm going to need your help with."
She brushed my words to the side. "Nonsense, I'll be here when you need me, but you and Dean can never do anything that would make me anything less than proud."
I smiled, I loved his mother and I couldn't wait until the day I get to join their family officially.
"Well I do still have a wedding to plan, I know I'll need help with that."
"Has Dean popped the question yet?" She asked hopeful.
I shook my head, "I wouldn't doubt if he doesn't even have a ring yet." I sighed.
"What's he waiting for?"
At this I shrugged, "I'm sure he just doesn't want me to feel rushed into anything."
She understood, "well as always I'll be here if you need anything, now let's go find that boy of mine." She said before we left back to the pack house.
Once we arrived we were greeted by not only my handsome mate but his new Beta as well.
"Business already?" Lola asked as she hugged her nephew.
"Would you expect anything less from Alpha Giles?" He said with a slight smirk.
Lola and I beamed with pride, yes my mate works hard...but hopefully it will benefit the pack in the long run and more so, earn the respect of the pack.
The guys pulled themselves from the office and Dean and I showed Jaxon and Lola a project that I was working on.
"It doesn't look like much now, but hopefully in the end this old building will be a safe place for some of the kids in this neighborhood, and I also want to implement Were Studies, I think younger Weres could benefit from learning our history and also what to expect from their shifting and mates, and anything else that we could possibly teach them."
"I think it's a wonderful idea." Lola sounded excitedly.
"Yeah...I mean I mostly learned from my parents but there's some stuff I was too embarrassed to ask so I had to learn later on my own." Jaxon added. "A mentor would've been helpful."
I nodded, "I had a similar experience when it came to shifting...but if I had been prepped better or my body had been conditioned physically and emotionally then I may not have had the trouble I did."
Dean rubbed my back, "nobody's got it down their first go around at being a wolf, it's all practice love."
I smiled at him, I knew he was trying to be helpful and make me feel better about myself and I was thankful for him.
"We should be heading back, I need to start organizing a ceremony and dinner." I announced.
Everyone agreed and Jaxon offered to drive his aunt home leaving Dean and I alone on the car ride home.
"What if I mess everything up?" I asked worried.
He lifted my hand and kissed my knuckles gently. "Love as long as there are three seats and food we're good...hell they can be three folding chairs and you could serve hot dogs and at the end of the day, so long as the three of us are presented as Alpha, Luna, and Beta...then it'll be a success."
Once again my mate eased my worry.
We drove on and as soon as I got back to the pack house I hijacked the office and set off to work calling every vendor I could think of that could help make the shindig spectacular.
Dean poked his head in, "I know it's a little early but I went ahead and ordered dinner."
I nodded and smiled of at him, "thanks Love."
"How's it going in here?"
"Making progress." I sounded tired of looking at the computer already. "I could use a break." I smirked.
He smiled, "I think I can help with that." He suggested.
I got up feeling playful, "wanna run with me?"
"If you think you can keep up."
I walked over to him knowing fully well that I was going to tease him a little then run out of the house so he'd chase me, but we were both caught off guard when someone walked into the pack house.
"Dean Giles."
I looked at the man, he had to be around my parents age, definitely not anyone I'd seen around here before. Then I looked to Dean, perhaps he knew him from work or something.
"I'm ALPHA Giles, how can I help you?"
I instantly picked up on my Mates defensive tone and knew this guy wasn't anyone he knew either.
The man simply held out a piece of paper, "you've been challenged."
