New Secrets Revealed
NEW CHAPTER WITH A NEW CHARACTER AS WELL! ENJOY!
"Surprised to see me alive Luca," I asked with a cold smirk as I stepped out of his arms. His eyes turned questioning.
"Don't be such a drama queen Blaze. Those darts would have only knocked you out," he said and my fury went down a notch.
"Ah I'm so glad you only wanted to hurt me and not kill me. It truly brightens my day," I said, sarcasm clear in my voice.
"You know I'm surprised you're here and not at the hospital though. Who did those darts hit," he asked. I could tell he meant to sound casual but there was an undertone of genuine concern.
"I have no reason to tell you," I snapped back. His eyes flared with anger and he practically lunged forward, his arms gripping mine tightly. For a second, genuine fear shot through me.
"Did those darts hit Natasha?" I was lost for words for a second. He sounded so concerned I almost bought it.
"Why the hell do you care," I asked and he stumbled back like I'd shot him. He then mumbled something that sounded vaguely like god why do I keep screwing up, before looking back up at me.
"What the hell is wrong with you," I asked finally.
"What," he asked, sounding shocked.
"Did my words anger you enough to actually make you want to hurt me? They were words Luca! It was in a moment of anger and you know, you know deep down that you deserve a hundred times worse than that," I lashed out, my voice faltering towards the end. For a second, he looked almost defeated.
"It wasn't my idea," he said softly. I searched his eyes and I almost gasped out loud when I realized he was speaking the truth.
"Then whose was it," I asked, my voice hard.
"Mine," said a deep male voice. I looked to the doorway to find a guy standing there, staring at me with absolute hatred in his eyes. His icy blue ones.
"You have a brother," I asked, turning back to Luca. He nodded once before averting his eyes from me. His brother kept his eyes on me though as he slowly approached me. There was an aura of danger that surrounded him that put my every nerve on edge. He was intimidating in every sense. From his height to his sharp, cold eyes.
"You must be the b**** that threatened my brother," he said, sounding highly amused as his eyes roved my body once.
"You must be the asshole that tried to knock me out," I spat back in the same tone, trying not to flinch away from him.
"Be careful with the way you speak to me. I have no qualms about hurting a girl" he said, his words full of warning as he pressed his body completely up against mine. I fought the urge to shudder at his closeness. His eyes then narrowed at something over my shoulder.
"What the hell are those," he asked, moving past me and fingering through my pictures.
"Don't fake innocence. I know you're behind this too," I deadpanned. Luca brushed passed me to see the pictures for himself.
"We didn't take these," he said and I rolled my eyes.
"So they just magically appeared in your bedroom?"
"Shut up. Was that window always open Luc," asked Sebastian, his eyes narrowed at his brother.
"No, did you open it," he asked me and I shook my head. Something about the slight fear in his eyes made me trust that he was telling the truth. I went to stand between the 2 boys to see the pictures again. As we brushed past picture after picture of me, all taken at the hospital, we reached pictures of Natasha as well.
"Who the hell did this," cried out Luca, suddenly sounding panicked.
"Wait look," I said and pulled out a note from the bottom of the stack. Written on it in big bold letter were the words-
Make the transaction or we kill.
"What transaction? What is this referring to," I asked. Luca's brother snatched the letter out of my hand, his face fixed in a scowl.
"Probably Blackwater, or Vestige," he muttered under his breath, turning the note over and over in his hands.
"What the hell are you talking about," I asked, my voice slightly trembling as I realized someone was out to kill me.
"Sebastian, tell her. She deserves to know," said Luca. Sebastian thought over his request before turning to me.
"Don't freak out or I'll kill you," he said seriously.
"Another death threat? I think they might start to grow on me," I said and the smallest smirk crossed his face.
"Those names I was referring to were gangs," he said slowly. My eyes widened, but I schooled my face to become blank.
"And I assume you're part of one as well," I asked. That smirk turned into a full grin.
"Darling I lead one."
Jace's POV
"Drive faster Xavier," snapped Natasha as we raced towards Luca's house. My heart thundered in my chest in worry. God please let her be okay.
"I'm going as fast as I can Nat," he said, his hands clenched on the steering wheel. His jaw tightened in effort not to snap at his sister.
"Are we there yet," asked Theo and I rolled my eyes. Mia smacked the side of his head.
"What are you, five?"
"The doofus thinks he can lighten the tension," said Amelia, glaring at her brother. I couldn't help the small grin that crossed my face.
"We're here," announced Xavier and just like that my grin vanished.
"Should we split up to find her," I asked. Xavier nodded and we split into pairs before approaching the house. A party was in full swing and drunken couples stumbled out of the house, giggling like maniacs. Mia scrunched her nose in disgust.
I didn't even bother looking at any of the girl's faces. Even held at gunpoint, my best friend wouldn't drink.
"Your phone's ringing Jace," said Mia, and I fished it out of my pocket. It was Natasha. Thank God .
"You find her," I asked, putting her on speakerphone.
"Yeah, top floor," she said, her voice oddly detached. I sighed with relief.
"I'll be there," I said and the 2 of us raced upstairs, almost knocking down a drunken girl on the way.
Blaze's POV
I stared at him for a good 2 seconds before getting a good look at him. He was tall with dark hair and pale blue eyes. Leanly muscled with a tattoo curled over the base of his neck. He gave off a threatening vibe, his eyes seeming to track every movement I made.
"I wouldn't say I'm surprised. You have the look," I said.
"Look, I know you're putting on some tough shit act but this isn't a game. Your life is on the line and so far, I'm not too keen on offering your or your friend any kind of protection. I suggest you try understanding the seriousness of this situation or you can get the f*** out of here," he snapped, his voice harsh and cold. The coldness that was there in his eyes before returned in full force.
"Easy Seb. At least she isn't freaking out," said Luca. Oh if only he knew how terrified I really was.
The door burst open just then and Luca immediately reached for his back pocket. It didn't take a genius to figure out what he was reaching for.
"Oh thank god you're okay," cried out Natasha as she entered the room, followed by Xavier. His eyes met mine, quickly scanning my body to see if I was okay. I gave him a brief nod before turning to Natasha. She'd finally noticed Luca, whose eyes were wide as he stared at her.
"Did you hurt her cause I swear to god," she threatened, taking a step forward. Xavier held her back, and placed himself between them, his eyes narrowed on Luca.
A low cruel laugh sounded from my left and I turned to find Sebastian casually propped against the desk, watching the whole scene unfurl with amusement.
"Have you lost your mind," I asked. He turned to me, taking delight in my cluelessness.
"Just how many gangs are you involved with darling?"
