Flirting With The New Guy

NEW CHAPTER!!! Hope you guys enjoy!

I was collapsed on my bed, completely exhausted from my 'confrontation' earlier when Parker burst into the room, holding a beer bottle.

"Oh my god! Where the hell did you get that? I swear to god if that's yours Parker I will murder you," I practically screamed as I jumped out of bed. Beer wasn't cool. If mom so much as saw that she'd kill him and I'd hand her the bloody chainsaw.

I'm not usually this violent but drugs and alcohol had always been a big no in this family. Neither of our parents ever drank. Hell they didn't even have coffee.

"It's not mine Blaze, relax," he soothed before tossing the bottle to me.

"Where did you get it?"

"The fridge."

"Its Rick's, isn't it?" He'd only married my Mom a few months ago, and it suffices to say that I liked the guy but I didn't really know too much about him. I'd been shocked when she married a new guy just 2 months after her divorce with dad, a divorce that had left her devastated. I hadn't even known Rick's name till wedding preparations had started.

"The bottle's not all I found," my brother said with a frown as he held up a packet of white powder.

It didn't take a genius to figure out that that wasn't baby powder.

"What do we do," Parker asked, his voice small.

"I don't know bro, I don't know," I said, plopping down on the edge of my bed.

"What are you guys up to," my mother called out as she neared my doorway. Through some insane synchronization, I tossed the bottle under my bed just as my brother slid the packet of drugs down his pants. I resisted the urge to slap my forehead.

Well if that wasn't bad for you before, it certainly was now.

"I'm leaving to class now mom but Parker was talking to me about some girl problems. I think you should talk it out with him," I said, shooting my brother an evil grin before heading out the door. Drugs and alcohol wouldn't stop me from playing my pranks on Parker. Hell even the world could freeze over and I'd still try to feed him to a polar bear.

When I walked into music class, I noticed 3 important things.

1) There was a box of uneaten pizza outside the recording studio

2) There was a new guy in class

3) The new guy was singing MY PART with MY FRIEND

Who the F did this guy think he was?

He sounds really good though.

He took my freaking place. He was going to get the ass whooping of a lifetime.

That's when the song ended and Natasha finally turned around to notice me. I gave her a small wave to hide the fact that I was practically burning the guy next to her with my eyes. Somehow he still hadn't turned around.

He looks great from the back though.

"Blaze! You're late," she called out before making her way to me.

"So what, you just replaced me," I asked in my slightly pissed off voice. Okay so maybe I was a bit on edge after what happened at the house.

"Aw honey I didn't replace you. That's just my idiotic brother over there. Xavier!" She called out to him and the guy finally turned around. The darkest blue eyes I'd ever seen clashed with my gray ones and for a second, my heart sped up.

He's got to be one of the hottest guys I've ever seen.

He truly was though. Leanly muscled, with gorgeous eyes and thick long lashes. He was certainly not lacking in the looks department.

"Hey gorgeous," I said to him, turning up my flirting game. His eyes widened just slightly, before a smirk appeared on his beautiful face.

"What's your name beautiful," he asked, his eyes roving once up and down my body. He seemed pleased.

"Okay can you guys not? I'm right here," said Natasha with a pointed glare towards both of us. I dropped my act while Xavier glared at Natasha.

"She's my friend and she's off limits. Got it?"

Xavier nodded reluctantly before turning back to me and giving me a wink. Natasha punched his side. Hard.

"Ouch fine. I'm Xavier, and you are," he said in a polite voice so at odds with the sexy one he had on earlier.

So he puts up an act too. A good one at that.

"I'm Blaze," I said. Then it finally clicked in my head.

"He's the new kid, isn't he? And why the hell did I not know you had a hot brother," I asked, aiming my questions at Natasha. I didn't miss the smile that passed across Xavier's face when I called him hot. Natasha's eyes widened at my sudden questions.

"Yep he's the newbie. He used to go to Danforth before but he got transferred here for senior year. I didn't tell you about him cause you never asked." answered Natasha.

"You transferred in senior year? Why would you do that? And how come I haven't seen you before?" I asked him. I'd noticed that even as his sister had been talking, he'd kept his eyes on my face. He straightened slightly, as if out of a daze when I addressed him.

"I can tell you over dinner tomorrow night. Say around 8," he said with the smirk returning to his face.

"Xavier, I just told you she's off limits," Natasha practically yelled at him. He barely even looked at her.

"Consider it a thank you," he said, his eyes suddenly intense.

"For what?"

"For defending my sister when I wasn't there," he replied, his eyes suddenly turning a bit too intense. Guilt swirled in those intense blue orbs. I realized he'd beat himself up about that. Not being there for Natasha.

Protective. Like you. Not to mention quite sexy.

"I'd love to go to dinner with you," I said and his lips turned up into a genuine smile. It was beautiful.

"Okay can we start the class now, " asked Natasha as she looked between the two of us. I realized she'd stopped reprimanding her brother though.

"Hm maybe you two might actually work," she muttered as she glanced between the 2 of us one more time as if she could see something there before walking to the recording booth.

"Blaze come on or I'll actually replace you this time," she called out and I quickly followed her, feeling Xavier's eyes follow my path. His eyes weren't exactly focused on the right place. I stuck my middle finger up behind me and I heard him laugh as I closed the door of the booth.

"I don't think you're hitting the last note right," I said to Natasha as we walked out of the booth completely exhausted. For those of you who are saying singing isn't tiring, I dare you to practice trills for 2 hours straight.

"I'll work on it tomorrow," she said sounding a bit nervous.

"Hey, it's okay. We'll be perfect by Saturday," I reassured her. We had a performance coming up on Saturday at the Midnight Gardens and apparently there were a few college scouts attending.

"Is that pizza," she said, her voice considerably brighter. I laughed lightly.

"Yeah I saw it on the way in," I said. It still looked brand new. Suddenly, an intense sense of foreboding hit me as Natasha walked to the box. Something about a brand new pizza box lying out in the open didn't seem right.

"Wait," I called out but it was too late.
