Who is She?
Finally, Yuta was breathing in the midst of that suffocation. He got a job at a kindergarten and his parents gave him a few more weeks to settle in the new routine and let him live more independently. Yuta even thought it was strange that his mother gave in so easily and wishing him good luck with a lively tone of voice. It was too easy, and that was odd, Yuta feel it that something worse would be coming, yet that might just be his imagination too.
It was Sunday. On TV Nakamoto watched the Yankees baseball game with a bottle of soju in hand. He was amused at the moment when two knocks made him realize that someone was at his door. He sat up suspiciously staring at the door and lowered the volume of the television just to be sure that there was indeed someone waiting outside in the hallway. It did not take long for the bell to ring this time and Yuta, with a confused expression, stood up to greeted the visitor. He looked through the peephole briefly to meet a girl with short, black hair outside. He didn't recognize her at first, but then he opened the door.
"Hello...?"
Yuta smiled wide-eyed as he realized who the japanese girl was in front of him.
"Hey, what are you doing here?"
"Yu-chan, don't be so surprised!" she smiled, patting the boy's shoulder "You'll embarrass me like that."
Without Yuta being able to say anything, she entered his apartment with two suitcases, one pink and the other yellow.
"Hey, hey, Ayumi-chin, what do you think you're doing?" he closed the door as soon as the girl was already seated on her couch.
"Wah!" her eyes flitted over every corner of the apartment, filled with curiosity "It's nice here, even if it's not so big. Hey, how's it living without the luxury of being rich?" a malicious, devilish smile formed in the curves of her lips "I heard you're now babysitting too."
"First of all, I don't care about my parents' money."
Yuta left the bottle of soju on the coffee table and stared at the girl with his hands on the waist.
"Second, I do not babysit, I'm an assistant to the teachers at a nursery school."
Ayumi laughed softly, supporting her elbows in her thighs staring at him.
"And third, what did you come here for?"
"Don't be mean, Yu-kun..." she looked frustrated but didn't let herself be shaken "Why should I have a reason to come and visit you?"
"I'm pretty sure you know why" he sighed and a silence fell into the room with both of them staring at each other.
"You shouldn't have to run away that way Yu-chan, I was worried."
"Kinoshita Ayumi, tell me why you came to Korea" he folded his arms.
"Your mother was worried, I volunteered to see if you were healthy" she frowned turning her face to the window "It will only be for a few days."
"Unbelievable... Everything was too good to be true."
"Don't say that, you know your parents love you" she stood up.
"Their love is dry and smells like money" he let out the air through his nostrils staring at the girl's suitcases "Wait... Don't tell me that you..." he scratched his head in distress "You're not planning to stay here, right?"
"And where else would I stay?"
Ayumi ran and hugged Yuta with a thin smile resting her chin on the breastplate of the tallest.
"In a hotel for example?!" he pushed her lightly by the shoulders and pulled her away from him.
"Don't be mean..." she stick out her tongue.
"Ayumi-chin, you know well that this isn't right. I'll take you to a hotel now."
As soon as he turned to pick up his phone, the black-haired girl grabbed his arm.
"Yuta...! Please, just one night..." her eyes were almost at tears and her face showed how desperate she was "I won't cause you any problems... Just one night... That's all I ask you..."
"Ayumi..."
His heart felt heavy at the expression of the girl given the past they had.
"You know how hard it is to smile at all the guests at the inn and have to please them when my heart is broken...?!" slowly she released Yuta's arm "With you there everything was better... I just want to feel your presence again" she lowered her head, but the tears were evident.
"Don't cry..."
Yuta now felt guilty for making Ayumi cry and even more annoyed at the idea of letting her stay.
"Alright, alright. But just for today! Tomorrow you'll be staying at a hotel room" he scratched his head already regretting to let her stay.
"Yu-chan..." soon a broad smile formed in her lips and she jumped on Yuta giving him a tight hug.
"But I have rules!" he pushed the girl away again with an impatient look "I don't want you grabbing, hugging and touching me. Let's not forget about boundaries, okay?"
Even with an ugly grimace, Ayumi laughed cheerfully.
"Ok, now why don't you show me the bedroom I'll be staying."
"You'll sleeping on the couch" he laughed, but he meant it."
"You don't have a guest room?" she was a little perplexed.
"No, I live alone, why would I rent a two-bedroom apartment?"
"But...!"
"Enough with the drama... It's a sleeper-sofa, don't worry" Yuta laughed, for some reason he felt nostalgic for having the girl with him.
"One night... Alright, yeah, ok, I can do it for you..." she whispered, which made him smile a little melancholy.
"Ayumi-chin, I'm sorry."
"For what?" from her face, she already knew the answer.
"I think I was very harsh on you that day, I'm sorry... I didn't mean to hurt you, but you knew the truth and you never told me anything."
"I couldn't tell you..."
"It's okay, I know it's not your fault. I just felt betrayed and I ended up screaming at you. But you know, it wasn't all true what I said."
"Which part?" she pretended to be angry, but Yuta knew she was hiding a smile.
"The fact that you're awkward, rude..." he laughed at everything he said. "Stupid... And ugly."
"What did you say?" she widened her eyes.
"That I lied when I called you ugly, you deaf..."
Yuta walked into the kitchen carrying with him the empty bottle of soju that he lay on the coffee table before.
"Yu-chan, let's go back to Japan!" Ayumi laughed excitedly and again hugged Yuta, this time from behind.
"I just mentioned about the boundaries, I didn't tell you about the boundaries?! Stop the hugging!"
With the sudden hug from the girl, Yuta was surprised and ended up raising his arms as soon as he felt her arms around him.
"You have three seconds to let me go. One... Two...!"
She quickly stepped back.
"Now answering you, no, I won't go back" he put the garbage from the kitchen in a large plastic bag "Now, throw this away for me, would ya?" he handed over to Ayumi.
"Ew... Why do I have to do this?"
"If you don't like it, you still can go to a hotel" a sarcastic smile.
"I'm already going... Geez" and she left.
For Yuta that was a mixture of anger and relief, since Ayumi seemed to be fine, yet his parents were doing something under the table again. He knew his father would not leave him alone easily, especially when it comes to money. The options he was offered were completely unfair and Yuta preferred to run away. He didn't think that was the best choice, on the contrary he hated to run away from his problems, but everything was getting out of control and returning to Korea in a deal with his parents seemed the best of his choices. But what would his parents gain from it? It was just then that Yuta realized that he had once again fallen on his father's cold plans. But he wouldn't give up, not without a fight.
Ayumi wanted to cook a meal for Yuta, and even if it was still early for dinner, he decided to give her a chance. If it goes wrong, we'll still be able to order take out, that's what he thought. Luckily, the smell was good and it tasted even better. No matter how much Yuta liked Korean food, a home-cooked meal from his hometown would always be tastier. You could feel all the beauty of Osaka on that plate. He smiled involuntarily and Ayumi seemed increasingly want to hug him. And so they had dinner together.
Both didn't talk much, yet they remembered some of the good times they spent together in the huge inn of Yuta's parents and how everything was after his departure. The two worked together to clean up the kitchen and finally have a little time to rest on the sofa. Everything was fine, until once again the doorbell rang.
"Everyone is busy when I invite them" he murmured to himself "And when I just want a day off alone..."
Nor did he looked through the peephole, just opened the door barely realizing that Ayumi was right behind him.
"Yuta!" Johnny grinned with a brief nod "We've come to cheer up your Sunday!" he was accompanied by Katrina and Charlotte.
"It's a thank you for all you've done to help me with Charlie" Katrina smiled thinly.
"Oh my God..." Yuta's heart trembled and he barely had time to respond.
"Who is this...?" Johnny opened his eyes wide, showing how curious he was about Ayumi.
"She's..."
Wanting to avoid any misunderstandings, Yuta despaired.
"Your girlfriend?" the canadian raised her eyebrows.
"No, no...!"
His hands began to sweat, and to make matters worse, Ayumi hugged him by the shoulders and stood on tiptoe with a huge smile.
"My name is Kinoshita Ayumi" a laugh "I'm Yuta's wife!"
