From Japan to Korea

An almost morbid silence took the mood, making Yuta get angry fleeing from Ayumi's arms and her extravagantly introduction. Katrina's mouth dropped open as Johnny's eyes widened and he stared at the girl next to him with a huge question mark on his forehead.

"Yuta, when did you...?" the tallest of the four asked, trying to understand the situation "Did you get married in Japan?"

"She's joking, how could that be true..." Katrina laughed more nervous than relieved not trusting her own words "Right...?"

"I can't tell, you know how these rich people in Japan are" Johnny left Katrina a little more distressed by his statement "Yuta explain, why didn't you ever tell us you were married?" his tone was debauched, but a little sincerity was seen in his voice.

"You see any ring here?" Yuta lifted his hands shaking his fingers.

"How will I know if you haven't taken it out before we got here?" this time the friend was just playing with him.

"Oh yeah, sure, I'm exactly this kind of guy, right Johnny?" he lowered his hands with an angry laugh.

"Hey! Don't say our relationship is a lie!" Ayumi slapped Yuta's shoulder.

"You want me to say your ridiculous lie is true then?!"

The japanese boy was already without patience with all those hugs and touches the girl gave him without permission, as well as the childish way in which she was acting now in front of his friends.

"Well then, can we get in or... We keep standing outside?" Katrina folded her arms as Charlie laughed softly at her.

Yuta let the three, who were waiting at the door, get inside and followed them into the living room. They all sat together on the couch after Johnny had left the hitherto unnoticed plastic bag, of the confectionery shop that he had gone with Katrina and Charlotte before visiting Yuta's apartment, on the coffee table in the living room. Clearly Ayumi sat next to Yuta looking at him with suspicious smiles, while Johnny and Katrina shared the same bothered look by the presence of the, up until now, strange Ayumi.

"I already told you about private space Ayumi-chin, do you want me to repeat it in japanese?"

"Don't be mean Yu-chan."

"Yu-chan?" Johnny took his eyes against Katrina with a slight grimace of disgust "Enough with the suspense, tell us the truth now Yuta."

"She came from Japan to see how I was."

Even though Yuta didn't fully believe that that was why the girl had come to visit him, that's what he had to answer.

"It was something about my mother being worried."

"Don't say it as if it were a lie!" Ayumi laughed "Yu-chan comes from a good family. They have one of the most famous and beautiful inns in Osaka."

This information Katrina did not know yet, so that explained her great surprise.

"Since I was a little girl, my family were some of the regular employees at the inn. That's how I grew up watching Yu-chan up close and learned korean."

"For goodness sake, don't tell this as if it were a fairy tale."

Ayumi completely ignored Yuta's words.

"We studied in the same high school" her eyes seemed to shine "Yuta was one of the most handsome students in my opinion."

Yuta briefly covered his ears rolling his eyes.

"We ended up spending less time together when he decided to do engineering in college and I agreed to follow the wills of my family working at the inn. But..." she looked at Yuta who implored her with his eyes to omit that part "One day Yu-chan and Nakamato-san fought... In the end, Yu-chan fled here without telling me anything."

"Okay..." Johnny laughed briefly trying to absorb the whole story "I feel that's something else missing" he folded his arms.

"But that's what happened" Ayumi confirmed once again a little nervous.

"Is it really just that Yuta?" Katrina now stared at the japanese boy who looked uncomfortable with all that conversation.

"Charlie! Let's eat a piece of cake?!"

Finally, Yuta paid attention to the plastic bag, which was on the coffee table in front of him, opening it and revealing the strawberry cake Johnny had bought.

"Yes!"

The little girl cheered as Yuta fled the subject by going to the kitchen to get the cutlery and dessert dishes.

"Unbelievable..." Katrina stared at Ayumi as she followed Yuta to help him "He has two arms; he won't die if he goes by himself..." she murmured.

"Are you jealous?" Johnny laughed at the girl sitting next to him with a suspicious smile.

"Of course not" she laughed a little desperately "I just don't like when girls chase men like that."

"Yeah? Hm, are you sure that's not because the man is Yuta?" laughed with the girl's gaze punching him on the shoulder "Just kidding, it was a joke...! Hey, your fists are strong!" and the two laughed together without noticing Yuta's presence with Ayumi just behind.

"What's so funny?" he asked with a bothered look very well expressed.

"Hey, I'm the one who should be asking the questions here, not you" Johnny snapped.

"Ya," Yuta lifted one of the silverwares staring at the taller one with wide eyes "I have a fork in my hand, are you sure it's safe to keep talking to me like this?" he set the dishes on the coffee table without disconnecting his gaze from Johnny's.

"Handsome oppa, my cake..." Charlotte pouted already on the floor facing the table.

Ayumi was the one who ended up serving everyone and even made tea for them to eat together. It was rather uncomfortable for Yuta, who felt the tension between Katrina and Ayumi, as if the japanese girl had noticed the way he looked at the canadian and didn't like her anymore. Ayumi doesn't even left his side as if she were watching over everything or protecting her man. In response, Katrina just stared back at her. If Johnny could say his thoughts out loud, they would be: "I see sparks coming out of your eyes."

To make matters worse for Yuta, who managed to keep away from the subject by playing with Charlotte, the little girl fell asleep quickly and he left her in his bedroom not to be awaken. By the time he returned, the atmosphere had changed. Johnny seemed to want to laugh at the same time he wanted to run for his life.

With a tug of arm, the taller one dragged Yuta into the kitchen with the excuse that they were going to do the dishes.

"Since when did you wash the dishes Johnny?"

"When there is conflict between women and I rather prefer to save my life."

"What are you talking about?"

"Katrina and Ayumi" Johnny was whispering.

"What happened?" Yuta understood the message, also diminishing his voice tone.

"Katrina asked why you quarreled with your father, but Ayumi said she should mind her own business. It wasn't a nice face that Katrina did when she heard that."

"And you left them there alone?!"

"What you wanted me to do?!"

"How about stop them from killing themselves? Ayumi says things without thinking about the consequences, didn't you realize it?"

As soon as Yuta finished his sentence, the two girls began to laugh in the living room in a strange and somewhat threatening way.

"Why are they laughing...?" Johnny asked a little distressed.

"How will I know?"

They both leaned silently against the wall separating the kitchen from the living room and peered into what was happening.

"Ah, I must be crazy to try to talk to someone like you...!" Katrina laughed as if behind each laugh, a bad word echoed.

"Accept the truth, you are feeling threatened by my presence" Ayumi laughed, too, but with mockery.

The two boys were huddled against the wall and then back to the kitchen with wide eyes. How had they ended up like that?

"Go there, Johnny."

"Me?! You go."

"If we do nothing, they'll actually kill themselves."

"And whose fault is that? You go there and do something."

"My fault?!"

"No, it's mine" he teased.

"It was you who brought Katrina here in the first place...!"

"How should I know you were with your japanese girlfriend?!"

"As if I had one!"

"Funny how you say that since she's in your living room now!"

"Yu-chan..." a whisper.

"AH!" Yuta and Johnny jumped out of the discussion because of the sudden voice.

"I think your friend doesn't like me..." Ayumi said.

"Oh, my God" Johnny put his hand up to his chest "Don't do that again woman!"

"Let's go back to the living room, shall we..." Yuta was also heart-pounding because of the fright he took.

Obviously, Katrina didn't even care about looking at Ayumi anymore ignoring her completely. Johnny felt uncomfortable for Yuta when he was forced to sit between the two girls who wanted to kill themselves. With a sigh, Nakamoto got tired.

"Okay sure, what do you want to know?"

"What happened between you and your father?" Katrina questioned.

"We had an agreement; I should do engineering in college to expand our inn's name in other cities and states of Japan. But my father has a debt with the Kinoshita family."

That moment, Ayumi tightened the fabric of her skirt.

"So, they gained a higher position at the inn and Ayumi was promised a guaranteed career" he looked at Johnny's eyes softly changing to Katrina's at time to time "One day I overheard the cooks talking. It was something about the debt being paid off in a way different from the one which was told to me before and it explained the benefits that the Kinoshita family received."

"Tell me that's not what I'm thinking..." Johnny almost murmured those words.

"They were going to bring together the two families" briefly Yuta stared at the girl on his left side who seemed embarrassed "I would have to marry Ayumi-chin to pay off my father's debt. Of course, I got mad. From the very beginning we left Korea so that I could grow up with my fiancée and accept to stay with her for the rest of my life. Those were my mother's words. That's why I ran away from home, but obviously I was found and taken back. Then we made another deal. I would prove that I could live here without their help or I would come back and do whatever they wanted me to do..." Yuta finally folded his arms irritated at his friends for making him share his secret.

"Well, I'm speechless" puzzled, Johnny curled up on the couch.

"That's... Cruel" Katrina felt a weight on her chest.

"That's why I came after Yu-chan, I was worried..."

"Yeah..." Yuta's tone was ironic, yet Ayumi didn't seem to notice.

That revelation made everyone tense inside the apartment. They watched some movies to kill the time and with the arrival of Charlotte now awake, besides already being late, Katrina and Johnny decided to leave.

"Is Ayumi going to stay here with you?" Johnny asked, since Katrina wouldn't, even dying of curiosity.

"Tonight yes, but tomorrow I'll take her to a hotel..." Yuta smiled thin even if there was no animation for such an action.

"What?!" and the canadian looked at him indignantly.

"It'll be ok, come on, come on" Johnny laughed taking the other away by the shoulders "Good evening Ayumi... And Yu-chan..." he teased and whispered something to Katrina that Yuta couldn't hear.

After the farewells, the Nakamoto placed the blankets and a pillow in the couch for Ayumi sleep while she was showering and then he made dinner. When he was stressed or saddened, he liked to occupy his mind with something, so she let him cook.

They didn't exchange many words that night. Ayumi was acting oddly quiet all of a sudden, but Yuta preferred it to be like that, he wasn't in the mood to reminisce about what he had been through while living in Japan.
