Chapter 8 - Cafeteria
Cassandra
After all my morning classes, it was finally time for me to spill all my dramatic tea to Bella in the Cafeteria.
I checked my phone for the millionth time.
Scrolling up to reach my past messages, I made sure that Bella was indeed meeting up with me.
Like always, the message was still there.
'I have to tell you something, meet at lunch?'
'Sure. Have to go.'
I turned off my phone and sighed.
I always did this.
I'd get worked up, which would lead to overanalyzing which eventually, would become unneeded stress.
I was like this right now for a couple of reasons.
Reason 1: In chemistry (of all classes) a student had decided to transfer from one of their old classes to our morning chemistry class and that student was none other than (you guessed it) Andrew. (I don't get why I keep running into him... is it... a sign? Nah, that's crazy talk).
To make matters worse, he was told by the teacher that he had to sit in the empty stool that just so happened to be right next to me.
Now, I can barely think properly when he's in the same room with me, nonetheless BESIDE me!
When he realized he was sitting next to me, his face broke out into a goofy grin and I'm sure if life were a cartoon I would have some lovesick smile plastered onto my face with hearts bulging out of my eyes because it was the most adorable thing ever!
Smiled back shyly, I felt butterflies erupt in my stomach and my face heat up a little.
He ran up to me, practically slid into his seat and started chatting my ear off.
I think he said something about me being 'Cassandra' and how 'it's so crazy that we kept running into each other' but what I heard was 'blah blah blah blah blah'.
Because the tiny voice in my head was overlapping his voice by screaming: "ANDREWS SITTING BESIDE YOU, ANDREWS SITTING BESIDE YOU, ANDREWS SITTING BESIDE YOU, AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!"
So I just twirled my hair absentmindedly and giggled hysterically (not to mention idiotically) at everything he said.
I eventually calmed myself down a little so that I could try and learn something (anything) from whatever the teacher was saying.
I tried my absolute hardest to pay attention for most of the class but I managed to steal a glance at Andrew every now and then.
Then something a bit... strange happened.
The teacher was handing out papers for us to take notes on and I guess he didn't see me because somehow I wasn't given a paper.
I raised my hand to tell him that he "forgot about me" when Andrew noticed that I didn't get a paper.
So he grabbed my arm gently to put it down, which caught me by surprise, and whispered in my ear "I got this."
I felt myself shiver at the fact that he was so close.
After he pulled away from my ear, he gave me his paper and raised his own hand to ask for a new one.
The teacher mumbled under his breath but complied and Andrew ended up with a new paper.
I don't know what Andrews motives were but... they were... kind of sweet.
Then the class ended and Andrew left just as fast as he came.
And I know it sounds weird but, he smelled so good! I loved his cologne; no wonder I wasn't the only girl pining over him.
I had a lot of tea.
And I wanted to tell Bella everything.
Anyway, the second reason I was so jumpy was that I hated being stood up, especially at times like this.
Because Bella was my only true friend, I always sat with her and lunch; but she was part of the track and field team as well as the Mathinators, meaning they would have 'surprise meetings' every once in a while and the fact that they were always during breaks like these left me confused and alone.
So I was worried that it would happen again.
I finally got to the cafeteria doors.
I hesitated.
I prayed Bella would be in there and without another thought, I burst into the room.
A wave of sound laved over me and laughter bounced off the walls.
I scanned the area for any sign of Bella.
Nothing.
I got stood up, yet again.
I was about to take out my phone to scold Bella when I noticed Victoria a couple of meters away from me.
She noticed me noticing her and a wicked gleam shone in her eyes as she smiled at me demonically.
She seductively made her way over to where Andrew was sitting, sat in his lap, threw her arms around him sexily and kissed him.
And not like the light, peck-on-the-cheek kind of kiss, but a full mouth-to-mouth, make-out-sesh kind of kiss.
I could tell that Andrew was surprised at first because he had thrown his hands in the air a little the way she caught him off guard, but after a couple of seconds, he became super into it.
The worst part of it was Victoria would look back at me with her eyes every once in a while to make sure I was watching and every time she knew I was looking, she kissed him even more with more passion every passing second.
After probably a full 5 minutes they both pulled away, out of breath.
Andrew looked at Victoria with a dazed smile on his face and said in a low, husky voice, "Hey babe."
She giggled while smiling back sweetly, running her hand through his soft, fluffy, blonde curls and replied, "Hey." Then she leaned her head on his and looked at me with a smirk on her face, clearly loving the mixed expression of disgust, anger and jealousy on my face.
I longed to be in her place. To be able to run my hands in his hair. For me to be the one kissing him instead of her.
I... I wanted him to make me his girlfriend, not her.
I glared at the both of them, clenching my phone in one hand and my paper bag lunch in the other.
I had to make a decision and fast before my emotions got the best of me and a certain someone got slapped.
I decided I would text Bella, not be mad at her, and tell her that I would call later to explain my conundrum to her.
I just wouldn't tell her right here, right now.
I couldn't take all this anymore.
So I swiftly turned on my heels and stormed out of the room.
I guess I was spending yet another lunch alone in the library.
