Chapter 11 - Admirer

Cassandra

"ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?" Bella yelled through my phone so loud I had to remove it from my face a little and surprised me so much I almost threw my phone down on my bed.

After the Cafeteria incident, I ate my lunch in the library and spent the rest of the day in a sort of haze; wanting to tell Bella all the things that went down today and having the image of Victoria kissing Andrew replaying in mind over and over again.

Then I picked up Eva from school (thankfully without running into Andrew and Jaxon again), got home and called Bella.

She picked up immediately and I told her everything in detail leaving me in this situation here.

I chuckled breathily "B, if you keep screaming like that I'm going to go deaf."

"Sorry," she apologized sheepishly in her regular voice "but this is important; tell me again 'cause it's all just too crazy."

I lay back on my bed, feeling exhausted from all the sudden drama that had managed to creep into my life.

"There's nothing really crazy when you think about it, I got a flower and a note from a stranger that probably wasn't even meant for me, my crush ended up transferring to my class and managed to end up sitting right beside me and I witnessed my crush with my enemy making out in the caf," I told her through the phone while shrugging my shoulders to try and convince her (but mostly myself) that it meant absolutely nothing.

"But there are so many unanswered questions! Like how'd your secret admirer get the flower to you?"

I groaned. "Please don't call whoever this is that. It's way too cringy and to answer your question, they probably just slipped it through those small slits in our lockers." It sounded logical enough so I went with it.

Bella was silent for a couple of seconds.

"Well, I suppose that makes sense BUT, what do you think all the Andrew drama meant?" She asked eagerly like she was watching some dramatic romance TV series on Netflix.

Sorry to burst your bubble Bella, but this is real life.

"Also nothing." I said bluntly "he was just being nice and it was nothing more."

"Or he does like you," she suggested hopefully. "And he's trying to hide his feelings so he'll still look cool and stuff."

To that, I rebutdtaled her with "Which brings us back to what happened in the cafeteria," while covering my eyes with my hands as if to try and escape the reoccurring vision of Victoria and Andrew in my head.

"I know but-" she started.

"But nothing!" I exclaimed exasperatedly. "Andrew would never choose me over his girlfriend and even if he did there's no way he would pick me when there are many other different girls he could've chosen. I was stupid to like him in the first place anyway" I could hear my voice getting higher and higher with each passing statement and I felt all my sadness and anger build up in my chest.

Bella went silent.

One second, two, a minute

I instantly felt bad about taking out all my feelings on Bella and apologized.

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to yell it's just-"

She cut me off.

"It's ok," she said softly "if anything I'm the one who should be apologizing, not you."

I could hear the genuineness in her voice and was so grateful for having such an understanding person as my friend.

To sort of make it up to her I said in a joking voice, "do you want to help me figure out who my secret admirer is?

I could practically see the smile forming on her face.

"Yes!"

And that was how I spent the rest of my night.
