Chapter 10 - Peaceful

Victoria

I woke up in total darkness.

So I lifted up my soft, silk light pink eye mask to have the ability to look around my master bedroom like I had done a million times before

I glanced out my window to see that the sky that was still slowly lightening up but was still a tinted shade of extremely dark blue and my bedazzled alarm clock said 4:58 instead of it's normal 7:00 AM.

'Why'd I wake up so early again?' I asked myself questioningly, searching my foggy brain for an answer.

'6:00 soccer practice, right,' I realized while rubbing my eyes. 'Don't wanna be late,' I thought as I sat up.

Clap Clap

The room flooded with light and I stepped out of my bed to get ready for the day.

I took a shower and washed my hair with my favourite shampoo; it made it smell super fruity.

Wrapped my dripping, flat waves in a towel and putting on a hot pink bathrobe, I headed to my huge closet to pick out what I would wear for today.

After scrolling through almost all my clothing combinations I found the perfect outfit.

Dark navy blue skinny jeans with a cute black turtleneck sweater blouse that hugged my skin and showed off all my curves perfectly with small suede boots with short, thick heels that were easy to walk in.

Content with my choice of clothing, I took the outfit back to the bathroom to put them on and get my makeup and hair done.

For my makeup, I did my usual black smoky eye, light blush and pink lip gloss for a more casual look.

And as for my hair, I straightened it, so it would go down to my mid back and I pulled it up into a sleek ponytail to keep it out of my face for the duration of the day.

I went to my jewelry bin and put on my heart pendant necklace with matching earrings, my watch and grabbed my iPhone XR and AirPods from my desk and stuffed it into my back jean pocket.

After I was ready, I filled my gym bag with my soccer uniform, cleats etcetera and went downstairs for breakfast.

I could smell bacon from the kitchen and I saw Olga, my maid/cook making bacon eggs and French toast for breakfast.

"Good morning Olga." I greeted.

"Same to you Ms. Deloris," she replied politely.

"Is mother here?" I wondered, poking my head around the corner to check. The room was empty.

"No, your mother had to leave early for work this morning." She said. My heart sank, though I was used to not used to seeing my parents in the mornings. Or ever for that matter.

"Okayyy... is father back from his business trip yet?" I asked hopefully. She shook her head.

"Not yet, Victoria. I'm sorry." She apologized emphatically.

"Oh..." I said in dismay with a disappointed sigh.

There was an awkward pause.

"Well..." Olga cleared her throat, breaking the silence. " Breakfast should be ready soon if you'd like to take a seat." I nodded and slipped into the leather chair.

I sat down and scrolled through Instagram until Olga finished making breakfast.

After breakfast, my chauffeur Alfred drove me to soccer practice.

During the ride there, I took out my AirPods, connected them to my phone, listened to some R&B music and looked out the window.

'The world looked so different in the early morning' I thought to myself in awe. The roads weren't busy and almost all the lights were out.

It was really peaceful if you ask me.

Sometime after, we pulled up at the field.

"I'll wait for you to finish up, then I'll drive you to school, Ms. Deloris." Alfred suggested as I picked up my stuff, getting ready to leave.

"Sure thing." I said as I stepped out of the car.

I jogged into the lobby to the girl's bathroom to get changed and headed out on the field to start practicing.

After practice was over, Miss Stephanie, my coach walked up to me as I was taking a swig of water with the other girls on my team.

"Good job today Victoria, you did super well," she said, impressed.

"Thank you, Miss Stephanie," I replied humbly and sweet.

"You know," Miss Stephanie leaned in close to my ear and whispered low voice so the other girls wouldn't hear "you always were my star student."

I just laughed lightheartedly at the compliment and headed back to the bathroom to retouch my makeup and change for the school day.

I walked back to the car. By this time the sky was a light purplish pink colour and I looked into the window of my family's jet black Mercedes to see Alfred asleep.

"Ugh, people can be so incompetent sometimes" I mumbled under my breath as I rolled my eyes.

"Hellooo Alfred, wake up! Practice finished 5 minutes ago so let me in, come on!" I said knocking and patting the window loudly, very annoyed.

He jumped up at the sudden noises I was making and unlocked the door immediately.

"I'm so sorry Ms. Deloris, I just closed my eyes I didn't think-"

I cut him off.

"Whatever, it's fine just drive," I responded, tired of his excuses.

He did what he was told and we drove in silence for the rest of the ride.

"The rumours have gotten worse" Allison informed me at our usual lunch table with Scarlette.

"How so?" I asked, curious to see her response.

"Well," she started off, "people think that Glassandra stole Andrew away from you."

I looked at the 2 with disbelief scribbled all over my face.

They looked back at me expectantly, wondering how I would react.

A small smile started to creep onto my face which slowly turned into a grin, into a chuckle, and got to a point where I was roaring with laughter.

The 2 giggled back nervously and Scarlette took the liberty of asking "Um...what's so funny?"

"What's so- what's funny is that people are dumb enough to think that Andrew would choose the nerd over me and the two would live to tell the tale," I said the last part through clenched teeth.

Then Allison piped up "speak of the devil, look who just showed up to the party" nodding over to the cafeteria doors where Cassandra was standing.

Our eyes met and that's when a truly devious idea popped into my head.

I stood up and looked back at my 2 friends. "Watch and learn girls," I said mischievously and heading over Andrew's way, I kissed him.

We started off with our usual kissing style, soft and slow but today I would take it up a notch.

Our lips danced together in synchrony with our tongues in each other's mouths.

He tried to kiss my neck at some point but I had to make sure that Cass saw us kissing and together so I made my way back up to his lips

We kissed one another until we couldn't breathe and had to pull away for air.

Satisfied, I looked back at the caf doors and saw her upset and ready to leave.

I don't know why I was so worried before; if anyone should be scared it's her. I had no real competition anyway in the first place.
