Chapter Ten: Secrets

Will's POV

My friends were surprisingly fine with Nico being a Neko. I was also surprised that Cecil knew what they were. He said he sees them running around on the streets all the time and he could never tell them apart from a normal cat. He looked Nico in the eye and said that he's tried leaving food out for them, but I wasn't sure how truthful that really was. Nico was pretty drowsy, as usual, but more so because I gave him his cold medicine. He told me to wake him up every time he dozes off, but he did it so often I decided to just let the medicine take its toll. Plus, he looked cute sleeping. Not that he was cute! Just he looked cute.. Sleeping.. Ugh. (Is this wall breaking? Will are you wall breaking? Could you not? I'd prefer if you didn't..)

Anyway, soon it was just Lou, Cecil and I with a dead asleep Neko next to us. I was surprised how heavy of a sleeper he was. Then again, he was technically drugged. That would make more sense. He normally wasn't this heavy of a sleeper. Trust me. You don't understand how ridiculous it is to get up to use the bathroom and have him ask where you're going because you woke him. At night I don't even want to leave my bed. (You're saying that like everyone just loves leaving bed in the morning.) The most reason is because he doesn't go right back to sleep after you've woken him. He lays there and asks you questions all. Night. I lo- Grown fond of him over the weeks but I really don't want to have to answer, "Where does the sun go at night?" every single time I need to use the bathroom. I should just stop drinking all together.

We were all in the kitchen, sitting on the table and talking. I was tempted to bring Nico upstairs. I don't know how comfortable it was to sleep with your head on a table surrounded by a bunch of  loud teenagers. But Nico managed and I have to say, I salute him for it.

"So, your parents don't know?" Lou asked, snapping me out of my daze.

I shake my head. "Honestly, I'm afraid of what they'd do if they found him. I don't want him to end up on the streets again. It's not fair."

Cecil nodded. "And he said all the cats he was living with were just disguised Nekos? Where's this shop exactly?"

I snickered and Lou rolled her eyes. That might sound like an innocent question, but we both knew his real intentions.

"Cecil, you're mother is allergic to cats. And I'm sure they wouldn't appreciate you bringing in a random Neko from a random let shop without their permission," Lou stated, prompting Cecil to stick his tongue out at her, pouting like a small child.

"Whatever."

I shook my head, not believing this was a fight I was actually having with my friends. But I looked at them, suddenly serious.

"Guys, you have to promise not to tell anyone about the pet shop nor Nico. You have to promise me."

We all turned to Nico who sniffled in his sleep from having a clogged nose. He stirred for a bit, then settled down again and went silent. Lou mouthed "Aww" and Cecil bit his lip, suppressing something. They both turned to me and nodded.

"Promise."
