Chapter 32: Taurtis: Don't Regret the Memories

~A/N: I'm sorry I'm not updating my Grian x Reader. I just wanna finish this story. ONLY TWO MORE CHAPTERS!!!!!!!!~

I sat, moping in the attic. How? Why? Those were questions going through my head.

The door opened. I didn't look to see who it was. The person closed the attic door and walked over to me. They kneeled down beside me, and I felt their soft hands wrap around me, forming a hug. I looked up.

"Chrissy...?" I said softly.

"Hey Taurtis," she said, smiling. "Grian said you agreed to go to the funeral today. Did you change your mind? You still seem to be moping."

"No. I'm going."

"Then you should probably get ready. You and the others' stuff is still here. It's all downstairs. The others are getting ready now."

"Okay. What're you gonna wear?"

"I really don't know. I was thinking about wearing one of Chan's dresses, but I decided against it."

"I'm sure she wouldn't mind. In fact, there's one thing I know she wanted you to have."

"Really?"

"Yeah. She told me."

I got up and smiled for the first time in a week. I walked over to a box in the attic. It was in the far corner. I opened the box and pulled out the dress.

It was dark blue, long-sleeved dress. The skirt part was long and straight. The blue was so dark it almost looked navy. I handed the dress to Chrissy.

"Taurtis, are you sure?" she asked, taking it. "I don't wanna be rude-"

"Trust me," I said.

"Okay."

~

We were walking towards the school in silence. When we reached the front of the school, we saw what the others had set up.

Rows of chairs stood, facing the school. In front of the doorway five makeshift coffins lay vertically. People were gathered around on the front lawn, dressed in black or dark, dark versions of other colors. We walked up to them.

A few people turned our direction. Then someone yelled, "YOU!"

Necra pushed his way to the front. Behind him stood Silly. He walked up to Sam, who was leaning on Grian for support, and pushed him backwards, causing him and Grian to stumble.

"You did it!" he yelled angrily. "You killed him!"

"I-" Sam said. He had a sad look on his face.

"YOU KILLED MY DAD!"

"No he didn't!" Chrissy yelled. She stood in front of Necra. "It wasn't him! It was Insanity! He had no part in it, so leave him alone!"

"What do you know? You weren't there!"

"I wasn't there when Insanity killed Rowan, no, but me, Grian, Taurtis, and Chan were with him. We decided to not be wimps and get rid of Insanity! And guess what? We did! You have no reason to be all up in Sam's or anybody else's face! So back off!"

Necra stepped back, frowning, then turned around and walked away. Chrissy turned to everyone else.

"Any one else wanna accuse Sam of murder?" she said loudly.

No one made a sound.

"Good. We should be mourning for the dead, and not making false accusations! Thank you!" Then she turned around walked away.

After the commotion died down a little, I took a seat. Grian sat beside me. I looked down, not wanting to talk, but of course, Grian wanted to.

"You okay?" he asked.

"No," I said truthfully.

"I'm sorry."

"It wasn't you."

"I know, but I-"

"I don't really what to talk."

"Come on Taurtis. You can't be mopey forever."

"Why? Why can't I be mopey forever? Why can't I mourn forever? Both of my girlfriends were killed! I should mourn forever!"

I turned my head, not wanting to look at Grian. I felt tears pour down my face. I cried silently for a bit.

"I'm sorry Taurtis," Grian said quietly behind me. I heard him stand up. "I'll leave you alone."

A few minutes passed, and Okami stood in front, her eyes slightly red. She was wearing a simple black dress, and her hair was tied back in a braid, as usual.

Everyone took a seat. Chrissy sat beside me, and Sam beside her. Grian sat beside Sam. I gave him an apologetic look. He smiled in a forgiving way.

Okami started speaking. I didn't listen. I zoned off, thinking of nothing. I could still feel the tear tracks on my face. I closed my eyes, shutting the world off.

It felt like only a few seconds. I felt someone shake my shoulder, and I opened my eyes. Sam had shaken my shoulder. He pointed at the front. Chrissy was standing there, about to speak. She cleared Her throat.

"Now," she started. "These deaths have been very hard on a lot of us. I know at least one family was broken in these past days. But we shouldn't mourn forever." She glanced at me. "We should keep going. Even if something like this happens, life goes on. Your lives go on. My life goes on. Our lives go on. So we shouldn't stay depressed. Yes, there will always be a whole in our hearts that can't be filled, but we can always try to fill it.

"I'm positive several of you will want to move away after this, not wanting any more association with this town. But if you do, just remember: the past is always behind us. We shouldn't linger on it, regretting everything, or else the future will pass by and we won't get the chance to make life better. If you want to leave, I don't judge you, but please, don't regret this forever. Don't regret anything. This town has brought us many memories, and we shouldn't forget them. The happy ones, the sad ones, all of them. They're what make up life. So never, ever regret them.

I think I've wasted enough time. I'll be leaving now."

Then it ended. Chrissy walked away and towards us. Everyone stood up, some going towards the coffins, others just leaving completely. Chrissy stopped in front of us.

We all got up and started to walk away. Before we left the school completely, I stopped. The others looked at me with confusion.

"You guys go on ahead," I said. "I need to talk to someone."

They nodded and walked away. I waited until they were out of sight, then hurried behind the school. I went to the place where Chrissy told me about her crush on Sam: Salex's grave.

"S-Salex," I whispered when I got there. "I don't know if I can take this. Two girlfriends in a row-"

"It's okay Taurtis," a voice said. I looked up. Ghost Salex was standing there.

"We're alright, Taurtis," another voice said. Ghost Chan appeared beside Salex.

"What am I supposed to do?" I asked.

"Move on," Salex said. "We'll be fine. In fact, were more than fine."

"Wh-What do you mean?"

"She means that our souls are at peace," Chan said. "Yuki and Insanity are gone for good, and Chrissy has the Yakuza under control. All of the murderers are dead."

"What do you mean? What about Karu?"

"Sadly, he killed himself. Your father had gone insane, then he grabbed a gun and, well, I guess you can figure out the rest."

I nodded. "He wasn't much of a dad anyway." (A/N: #NoRegrets XD oh, sorry, too early?)

"You'll survive, Taurtis," Salex said. "You have your sister and your friends. We're sure you'll a girl that's better than both of us."

"Really?"

Salex nodded while Chan said, "Yep."

"Now, we have to go," Salex said. "Goodbye, Taurtis." She kissed my cheek and then started floating up into the air.

"Bye, Taurtis. We'll miss you," Chan said. She kissed my other cheek, then she started floating into the air. I watched them go sadly, until they had completely disappeared from sight.

Sighing, I walked away.
