Chapter 25: Chrissy: Nightmares and Spirits

~A/N: okay. This first part of the chapter is what I called 'graphic' last time. It's not too bad. It's only a nightmare. Ha! Anyone get that reference? No? Ugh, why am I the only one who like NateWantsToBattle!?~

I was in a dark room. Sam was curled in a ball on the floor, shaking madly. I ran over to him.

"Sam?" I asked. "Sam are you alright?"

No answer.

"Sam!" I pulled him up. His eyes were all black with two, small, white dots in the middle of them.

"Sam?"

He gripped my shoulders. Tightly. I touched his face with my hand.

"Sam? Can you hear me? It's me, Chrissy."

"Chri-ssy?" Sam said.

"Yes Sam. I'm here."

"Ka-ru?"

"Yes. Chrissy Karu."

All of the sudden, Sam had a knife in his right hand. It looked exactly like Yuki's: kitchen knife, covered in blood. He was raising it above my head.

"Sam? What's wrong with you?"

"You did this to me!" Sam's voice got deeper. It sounded straight out of a horror film.

"Sam! What're you doing?"

He didn't answer. He just stabbed.

Everything changed. I was standing in front of a window. The window looked into another room. Sam was in that room, laying on the ground...in chains.

"Hello Chrissy," my father's voice said. "Glad to see you've made it."

"You," I said. "Don't talk to me!"

"Chrissy dear, I just wanted to tell you what this little show is about."

"I don't want to hear what you have to say."

"I'll tell you anyway. You see, as I told you, Mr. Gladiator here has a problem. He needs to be taken care of. I will tell my assistant here to...give him something. I want you to watch."

"No!" I tried to look away, but my head wouldn't move.

A man came into the room. He had a needle in his hand. He walked over to Sam. Sam tried to crawl away, but the chains were holding him still. The man stuck the needle into Sam's neck, and he screamed.

"No! Sam!" I started to cry. All I could do was put my hands against the window.

Soon, the man took the needle out of Sam's neck. Sam was in the floor, not moving. Not breathing. I cried. Maybe it was vision going blurry from the tears, but the room, Sam, everything seemed to dissolve. The last thing I heard was a faint voice saying, "Chrissy. Wake up."

~

"Chrissy. Chrissy wake up!"

My eyes flew open. Chan was shaking my good shoulder.

"Wha-what happened?" I asked.

"You had a nightmare."

"Wait, it wasn't real? Oh thank goodness."

"Was it bad?"

"Very."

I sat up. It was early morning. Sam, Taurtis, and Grian were still sleeping.

"How'd you wake up?" I asked Chan. "They're still fast asleep."

"I don't know how they are still sleeping," Chan said, pointing to the boys. "You were screaming."

"Oh."

Sam turned around in his sleep, facing me. I remembered his dark eyes from my nightmare. I closed my eyes and shook my head. I reopened my eyes. Chan came over and sat next to me.

"Tell me about your nightmare," she said softly.

I started telling her both of them. After I finished, I was nearly in tears. Chan hugged me.

"Don't worry about it," she said. "It wasn't real."

Then all the boys screamed.

They sat up at the same time, breathing heavily.

"What happened?" I asked them, moving so I was facing them.

"I had a nightmare," they said unison. I looked at Chan. Four nightmares in one night? That can't be a coincidence.

I started with Taurtis. "Tell me yours."

He almost exactly repeated my first nightmare.

I turned to Grian. "Grian?"

He almost exactly repeated my second nightmare.

I looked at Sam. "Yours?"

"I had both. Except replace me..." He looked into my eyes. "With you."

There was a pause. Then I said, "I had a nightmare too. It was the same as Sam's, except the people were switched."

"This can't be a coincidence," Chan said. "Ellen must be messing with us."

"Is she?"

"Probably."

"It's a Saturday, right?"

"Yeah."

"Should we go talk to her?"

"Yes. We can go to her fortune-telling booth by the shops."

"Is Ellen even a girl?"

"I don't even know."

"Okay." I shrugged. "Let's just get ready."

~

After getting dressed, going back to the boys' apartment to get clothes, and eating breakfast, we were ready to leave.

Outside was freezing. I put the jacket Chan gave me. We walked to the shop area, stopping at Majo Ellen's fortune-telling booth.

"Ellen," Chan said, putting her fist on the wood. "They all had almost the exact same nightmares last night. Did you do it?"

"How could I do it?" Ellen said. "Only the spirits can give dreams. I'm just the messenger."

"Then why did the 'spirits' give us all similar nightmares?" I asked.

"Pay me and I'll tell you."

I sighed, but pulled a few yen out of my pocket and handed it to her/him.

Ellen took the money and closed her/his eyes-I mean eye. When she/he opened it again, it glowed. Her/his voice went deep and sounded layered, like a spirit's would.

"Grian," Ellen said.

"A friend of yours you have betrayed.

You have seen him suffer and fade.

This will become true if you do not act.

Stop all of it from becoming fact."

She/he turned to Taurtis.

"You have evil in your blood.

That might someday haunt you because

If you let Sam go insane,

You will have lost your game."

Ellen turned to Sam, her/his eye glowing brighter.

"The love of your life is your worst enemy.

She can either be the key

To unlock your heart's desire,

Or make you all burn in fire."

Then Ellen turned to me, her/his eye practically blinding me.

"You're being torn inside

Asking what you should do.

If all else fails, return to

The plan you think is your doom."

Then Ellen disappeared.

I thought over what she/he said. It was the plan. The plan that I had come up with as a last resort if anything happened.

~Flashback~

I was asleep in the hospital bed, but my mind was being torn apart.

Yuki, Sam, Father... All my thoughts were trying to get to the front of my mind, causing me stress. I finally came up with a plan to everything. If Yuki or my father got Sam, if Sam went insane, if anything that couldn't be fixed happened.

I'd do anything. I'd give myself up. I'd kill myself. I'd work. I'd do anything. Without question, without arguing. Anything. As long as my friends were okay.

And then I'd talk to her.

But that was only if nothing else could happen. If nothing else worked.

Then I heard Sam's voice, calming me down.

"Chrissy, I'm sorry I wasn't there. If I had known, I would've taken that knife for you. Please wake up. If I had too, if stay here forever. I'll be waiting."

I opened my eyes.

~End of Flashback~

"Come on," Chan said. "We need to go."

I felt someone grasp my hand. They pulled me along. I was still halfway in another world.

We stopped at Chan's house. I noticed that Grian had been the one that grabbed my hand. (A/N: what an oddly specific detail (;  ) We went inside.

I sat down on the couch. I put my index fingers to my temples, closing my eyes, and thought.

"I guess we're staying here?" Taurtis' voice asked.

"Yeah," Grian said. "We can't go back to our apartment, the Yakuza know where that is."

"And Chrissy can't go back to her house," Sam said. "That's where Yakuza is."

I opened my eyes. "Let's not dwell on this now," I said. "It's almost Christmas, let's just enjoy the holidays."

"Wait a minute," Chan said "IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS?! How could I have forgotten? I need to get the house decorated!"

And that's what we did. We spent the next days decorating, buying presents, etc. One thought lingered in my mind the entire time.

Everyone's going be happy again.

~A/N: okay. That's it. I'm done. For a while.

I won't be posting the next chapter in a while because of reasons.

1. It's almost Christmas

2. I'm working on another story (hint: it's an 'x Reader') that I will be uploading (is that the word?) soon

3. I need time to work on the next chapter. I want it to be original. Give me some ideas! I'm happy to listen to you...as long as you're not giving me someone else's idea. I don't want to be a copy-cat.

Ha! I sound like I'm talking to a lot of people. Lol! There's only like, 3 of you reading this. And I appreciate you three (or four, whatever). I can't believe you've stayed with me. My story sucks.

Okay, oodga yeba! (Pig Latin) See you soon, Chosen Ones!~
