Gingerbread: My Thoughts

From my perspective, the Season 3 episode Gingerbread sure is quite awesome and well-written, as well as highly inspiring (for a fanfiction writer, of course). However, it's too bad Willow's mother Sheila didn't know about Buffy's being the Slayer, or that Buffy is highly skilled at hunting and staking vampires either.

I sometimes wish there had been this scene in Gingerbread:

Buffy: My name is Buffy, Mrs. Rosenberg — not Bunny.
Mrs. Rosenberg: (in realization) Oh. Oh, I am so sorry, Buffy.
Buffy: Thanks for the apology, Mrs. Rosenberg. Oh, and just so you know, my name Buffy is actually a fairly common nickname for "Elizabeth."
Mrs. Rosenberg: Really? Wow — I had no idea.

(Of course, I do like the part where Xander says, "Excuse me. Playboys. Can we turn the sympathy this way?" while turning his head seemingly over to his locker. It's pretty awesome, and it's quite like Xander to say that as well.)

Plus, the character of Roy Dukeshire (portrayed in a superbly awesome way by Grant Garrison) sure made me glad Buffy showed up next to Amy and tossed him a seemingly innocent smile similar to that of Jack Torrance (played by Jack Nicholson) from the 1980 film The Shining (which I've seen and also highly recommend, by the way) — only different. And when Roy turned and saw Buffy, he realized her smile was anything but angelic, as she was non-verbally asking him with her eyes what he would do to her since she happened to be a vampire Slayer (which he clearly didn't have an answer for), as well as telling him he'd better watch his step, because if he didn't, he'd learn the hard way why she was the Slayer. From my perspective, it serves him right.

Here's another scene I think should've happened in Gingerbread:

Buffy: (to Roy) Do you know what a Slayer is?
Roy: Well, a witch, yes. But a Slayer? I don't think so.
Buffy: Well, then you're going to find that out the hard way one of these nights, Roy. So I suggest you watch your back. I make it a point to go through with my threats against someone — especially if that person threatens to hurt my friends, too.
