My Opinion on my Books: pt. 1
I just realized that I've never spoke about my thoughts on my books...huh.
Well, let's open the trash can and dive on in!
Seriously though, I love the support you all have given me and that you continue to read my stories. I'm finally reaching a time in my writing where I do think it's average and I can look back on it and think, this wasn't horrible.
But, my old stuff I wish I had the heart to delete.
Let's start with the biggest one of all.
Don't Care. It's my very first Fanfiction that I ever posted onto Wattpad and it's my most read one. I think at the time of writing this, it's at 75k reads? Like...why? It's horrible! I think it's because the chapters are shorter and it's an easy read. I would reread it to test how long it would take to read the book from beginning to end in one sitting but, I started it when I was twelve and ended it when I was thirteen when I had only been writing for a year. I think it's an easy read...vocabulary wise.
It's just cringe on a page. I wouldn't be surprised if twenty years from now, I come back and I immediately slap myself from the dark memory in the back of my mind. I seriously said that Laurance put toast in the toaster...that's only in the first chapter! And that's most of the comments on the first chapter! That's right! I noticed! And I haven't fixed it yet because I don't have the heart to do it! I also was nervous the whole time writing it because I hid it from my parents because I didn't know if they were homophobic or not! I figured out later that they have best gay friends in Florida who we stayed with when we went to Disney! I just didn't know because I was five! Also, I was in seventh grade and they had already sat me down and told me if I were to make that decision in my life, they would support me and love me! Like, why was I scared? I have amazing parents gosh dang it! I'm blessed to say that!
The reason why I haven't taken it down and make it a distant memory is because I know many people do enjoy it. If you haven't read it yet...don't. You're fine! But, if you're here because of it, congratulations. You still think I'm a good writer after that. You, are the definition, of a good person. Another reason why I keep it up is because it's the oldest piece of writing I have. It's a good thing to compare my writing now to. Also, my friend, TheDerpyPikachu98 told me that it's great to have that because it shows my improvement to others. So, thank you all for the support on that book but, overall, I hate it. Sorry.
Next one is Heartbeat. I don't hate the book but, I don't love it. It's in the middle. It was heavily inspired by another story that I can't find now but, I'm sure if the author read it, they would upset with me. The only thing different is the ending. I also like it because it's Garmau. I mean, people do like it too. A girl offered to make a series about it on YouTube with her own characters...not sure if that's still happening but, whatever. It still touched me warmly that someone liked it that much.
The thing I would change about it though, is Aaron's donkey move. Like, he would never do that. Sure it's an AU but, at the time, I didn't like the character and I thought he was a donkey. Overall, a 7/10 for me.
Now...the only Fanfiction that isn't Garroth related...The Light of my Darkness...I think that's the title. That's right. I completely forgot about it. It's just a forgettable book to me. Nothing special. The only reason why I wrote it is because I wanted to see if my books would be more successful if I wrote canon ships and I found out that it's not true. It's actually one of my least popular stories. I'm glad too because I got bored about half-way through and just rushed to finish it. It's a book I should really take down because no one would be affected by it.
Let's get into Immortality and the whole series surrounding it shall we?
It's literally my baby. I love this series because it's not a romance focused novel. The only relationship in it as of right now is Zane with one of my original characters, Penny Saucer. Yet, they aren't the focus. I think that's one of many reasons why I love it. Another being that it is mostly original characters.
Immortality took eleven months to write and has 50 chapters so, if you have a day where you just want to read, I recommend that. Also, it shows my improvement of a writer through a year basically. If you're a Garroth stan, I think you would enjoy it.
The prequel Diamonds is another one I'm proud of because it's how I wanted season 3 of MCD to end. So, if you're an OG fan and you want a fast ending to the show and not wait another two seasons now, there ya go! It's probably not how Jess would end it but, it's how a Garmau fan would end it. That's all I have to say.
The sequel, which I'm writing right now, Costs is taking me a lot of time to write and I know that. So thank you guys for being patient. I just to take my time with it and make sure it's perfect! I have so many plans for it and the support is really appreciated!
So, the whole series is my favorite thing I've ever written and if anyone were to ask me what to start with it would be that series. It shows my improvement, my general theme (Garroth), with my own personal flare. 11/10!
Okay, let's go with another popular one, My Protector. Guys, I can't say how much I love the support on this book! Like I didn't know it would be this popular! The sequel is the highest growing book I've ever had and I really can't thank you all enough. Anyway, I seriously thought this would be a forgettable one again because I literally thought of the idea one day and the next day, the first chapter was already published. It was my first original idea and I was shocked with the response. Like, wow! The writing process was a lot fun as well! Sure, I would change how the trial went (spoilers sorry) and some other details but, besides that, I'm happy you all liked it!
Okay...this is already getting pretty long so I might come back and talk about my other ones later! Anyway, love you all!
