The second kiss

I sat on my bed, watching some of Tom's old interviews on my laptop as I waited for him to get back to mine from his latest interview.

"You see Robert's suits develop and evolve, his used to be so bulky and now they're so thin and streamlined. I'm on my fifth movie, and I just got a zipper." He nodded, making Graham Norton's audience laugh as he held up five fingers. I chuckled and bit my lip as I was reminded of how just good he had looked in the interviews. Suddenly, I heard my front door open and then close.

"Y/N? You in?" I heard his voice call out.

"I'm in my room!" I yelled back as I shut my laptop so that he'd not see what I'd been watching. A few moments later, he appeared at my door.

"You okay, darling?" he smiled, me returning it as he walked in, leant down and kissed my head.

"Yeah, I'm alright." I nodded.

"Hey, um, I have some news." He spoke as he sat on my bed. I looked at him.

"Am I going to get worried by this news?" I gulped as I put my laptop down beside me.

"No, no, if anything, you'll be very happy." He smiled. I raised my eyebrow at him.

"Due to scheduling stuff for the Spiderman movie, we're done filming all of the bits that are in other countries. The filming in London starts next week, and so I'm staying here for the foreseeable future." he admitted. My eyes widened.

"Oh my god!" I squealed, making Tom laugh as I hugged him tightly. Tom laughed more as the force that I'd hugged him at knocked us both back on the bed, meaning that I was lying on top of him. He looked up at me, his wide smile turning into a smaller one as he looked at me, his hands on my waist.

"S-sorry, I didn't mean to...you know." I chuckled nervously.

"It's okay, you know that I like you on top of me." He teased, making me smirk and roll my eyes playfully as I got off of him.

"Anyway, Haz and I are going out clubbing tonight to celebrate, so you want to come?" he asked, placing a hand on my knee.

"Sure, sounds good." I smiled. He returned it before it dropped slightly, and he looked down.

"You, um, you can invite Caleb too, if you want." He nodded. My smile dipped too.

"Um, no, I think it'll be nice for it to just be the three of us. Anyway, things between us aren't great right now." I nodded. Tom looked at me.

"Oh. I'm sorry." He mumbled.

"Thanks." I returned. He looked at me and gulped.

"Actually, no, I'm not sorry that you two are fighting." He admitted. I looked at him.

"What?" I scoffed.

"I saw how he treated you at Sam's party. He was a complete ass and he treated you like you were, I don't know, his personal squeezing bag, or something. It was clear that he didn't care what you were comfortable and not comfortable with, as long as he could do what he wanted to you. I'm sorry, Y/N, but you could do so much better." He spoke, shaking his head.

"Yeah? Like who, Tom?" I questioned. His eyes wavered and he looked down.

"I...I, um, don't know. But I do know that you're incredible, and you deserve someone who loves you properly and treats you how you should be treated. You deserve someone who would treat you like I would." He nodded, looking back at me. I nodded and bit my lip, trying to stop tears from pricking my eyes as I put my hand on his cheek and leant in to kiss the other cheek. Tom leaned into my touch, ever so slightly pecking the side of my mouth before I pulled away.

"Thank you, Tom. That means a lot." I nodded. He returned it and gave me a small smile.

"We're heading out at about eleven, Harrison said that he'd come here, and we'd get a taxi into town." Tom explained as he stood from my bed.

"Sounds like a plan." I smiled. He returned it, leaning down and kissing my head again before leaving the room.

"Three, two, one." Harrison counted down, all three of us downing shots of vodka. I coughed, squeezing my eyes shut as the sour liquid flowed down my throat.

"One more round?" Tom asked as he got his wallet out.

"How many have we had already?" I asked, putting my hand against my forehead.

"Well, we've bought five rounds, so you do the math." Harrison nodded, chuckling at me.

"Jesus, babe, are you drunk already?" Tom chuckled, putting his hand on my lower back.

"I'm fine, just tipsy." I shrugged.

"Uh-huh." Harrison smiled.

"You guys want to dance?" Tom asked.

"Ooh, yeah, dance with me, Tom." I smiled, grabbing his hand.

"You two go ahead, I'm getting some pretty suggestive looks from that girl." Harrison smirked, winking at the girl who was sitting on the other side of the bar. I rolled my eyes and looked at Tom, who chuckled and shook his head.

"Be safe, Haz." I chuckled, making him smile as I kissed his cheek before letting Tom lead me into the crowd.

I stood in the smoking area of the club, hugging myself as the cold air nipped at my skin.

"Mind if I join you?" I turned around and smiled as Tom strolled out into the otherwise empty bit, his hands in his trouser pockets.

"You know that I love it when you join me." I teased. Tom smiled and nodded as he walked to me, the height difference between us now evident as he looked down at me. He nodded towards the door.

"We can still hear the music. Care for a dance?" he asked, taking one of his hands out of his pockets and outstretching it to me. I couldn't help but smile at the small yet meaningful action.

"I'd love one." I nodded. He returned it and smiled at me as he gently took my hand, curling his other arm around my waist and pulling me into his body. I closed my eyes and rested my head against his shoulder as I let him sway us to the quietened sound of the club music. This was perfect, and it was perfect because it was with Tom.

"Are you happy with him?" Tom asked quietly, breaking the comfortable silence that we'd been engulfed in. I opened my eyes and looked up at him, sighing as he looked down at me with broken brown orbs.

"Why?" I gulped. He shook his head and opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out for a moment.

"I just...I need to know. I need to know if you're happy, and okay with him." He nodded. I gulped again and looked into his eyes, searching for any hint of a joke or sarcasm. But all I found was sadness and despair.

"Tom, I...I don't know what to say to that." I scoffed quietly.

"So, if I were to kiss you, right here, right now, you wouldn't kiss me back? Because you're happy with him?" he gulped. My eyes widened slightly at the bluntness of his question.

"There's only one way to find out." I replied quietly, my voice barely above a whisper. Tom gulped, his eyes flickering between my own and my lips as he started to slowly lean down. His eyes fluttered shut as he pressed our lips together gently, my own eyes closing as I returned the kiss. His hands moved to my waist, pulling my body further against his as he deepened the kiss, making me smile into it. He broke the kiss after a moment as we both needed to breathe, but kept his lips hovering over mine as our eyes fluttered open. He looked at me, a small smile on his lips.

"I guess that you're not happy with him, then, huh." He mumbled. My eyebrows furrowed.

"Is...is that the first time that we've kissed?" I asked. Tom's eyes widened slightly.

"Why?" he gulped. I shook my head and bit my lip, resting my hands on his chest.

"It's just that, I don't know, your lips felt familiar somehow." I chuckled. Tom gulped and looked down.

"That's because it's not the first time that we've kissed." He admitted, looking back at me with worried eyes. My eyebrows furrowed.

"What? When have we kissed before, Tom?" I scoffed, making him sigh.

"The first night that you and Haz came to see me in LA. You got very drunk, and you kissed me." He admitted. My eyes widened.

"I'm sorry, I should have told you-."

"Yes, you should have done." I nodded, gently pushing on his chest and leaving his arms, making him gulp.

"I'm sorry, but you didn't remember it the next morning, and I wasn't sure if you'd kissed me because you were drunk or because you wanted me like that, and I didn't want to ruin our friendship-."

"Tom, that wasn't your choice to make, you should have fucking told me." I scoffed.

"I know." He nodded, looking at me as his eyes wavered. I sighed and looked down.

"Which one was it?" he asked. I looked back up at him.

"What?" I scoffed.

"Did you kiss me because you were drunk, or because you wanted me like that? Because you love me like that?" he asked. I gulped, my eyes wavering.

"It wasn't because I was drunk." I shook my head. Tom's eyes wavered and his mouth fell open slightly.

"What's going on here?" I closed my eyes and sighed as Harrison appeared at the door.

"Nothing. I just caught Tom out on a lie." I nodded as I started to head back inside.

"Y/N, wait." I ignored his pleas as I walked away from the two of them and back into the club.

Tom's P.O.V

"Y/N, wait." Tom gulped as Y/N headed back into the nightclub. She ignored him, making him sigh as she disappeared into the building. Harrison looked at him.

"What does she mean, she caught you out on a lie?" he asked. Tom sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"We just kissed, and then Y/N asked if we'd kissed before, because it felt familiar, so I came clean about the fact that she kissed me before." He admitted. Harrison's eyes widened.

"Wait, go back, did you really just help Y/N to cheat on Caleb?" he scoffed.

"It's not like I meant for it to happen-."

"Oh, I think you did, mate." Harrison nodded, making Tom sigh.

"She also didn't stop me, though. I asked if she was happy with Caleb, she didn't give me an answer. I asked her that if I kissed her, would she return it, she said try it. And then she kissed me back. I'm sorry, Haz, and I know that what I did was wrong, but she didn't sound like a girl who's happy with her current boyfriend." He scoffed, shaking his head.

"Yeah, well, she should have been allowed to decide that for herself. Not through you prompting her." Harrison nodded, clenching his jaw at his best friend before going back into the club. Tom sighed and looked down, knowing that Harrison was right. He gulped, pinching the bridge of his nose and trying not to think about the fact that he may have just lost one of his best friends as he headed back into the club.

Y/N's P.O.V

"Y/N, please just talk to me." Tom gulped as I stormed into my house, ripping my heels off as I went.

"Why the fuck should I?! Not only have I just cheated on my boyfriend because of you, you also seriously betrayed my trust by kissing me and not telling me." I nodded.

"I know that I fucked up, and I'm sorry, but we need to talk." He pleaded, following me around my house like a lost puppy as I tried to get away from him.

"There's nothing to fucking talk about!" I exclaimed, throwing my arms up in exacerbation as I turned around to face him. He looked at me.

"Y/N, we need to talk about what those kisses meant, especially as you admitted that the first one wasn't prompted by the alcohol." He shook his head. I gulped and held his stare, tears pricking my eyes.

"They meant nothing, Tom." I lied. His eyes wavered and he nodded as a tear left from them.

"Sure they didn't, Y/N." he mumbled. I sighed and shook my head before turning around and heading to my room again.

"Y/N-." I slammed the door, cutting him off as I took my bag off. I choked, suddenly breaking down into tears as I slid down my door and to the floor. I sat there crying, my face in my hands so that Tom wouldn't hear me. This situation was so fucked up, we had just done everything but admit our feelings to each other, had kissed and had set ourselves up to be together, there and then. Yet here I was, crying on my bedroom floor because my heart had been broken once again.

"Y/N?" I gulped, looking up as I heard Tom's voice on the other side of the door. I didn't respond, curious as to what he'd do as I heard him sigh.

"Look, I know that you don't want to talk to me right now, and I get that, I fucked up. But I kissed you for a reason, and I know that you kissed me back for the same reason. Please, just think about that." His muffled voice spoke. I bit my lip, more tears silently leaving my eyes at his words.

"I, um, I guess that that's all I've got to say. Goodnight, I guess. I'll see you in the morning. I love you." He spoke quietly. I closed my eyes and let more tears fall as I heard his feet padding away from the door. I let out a shaky breath and rested my head against the door, wanting nothing more than for everything to just return to normal with Tom.
