The new boyfriend
~Two months later~
Tom's P.O.V
"Just here, mate. Thanks." Tom smiled as the taxi pulled up to Y/N's house. Tom had decided to surprise Y/N by flying out to come see them, Harrison already knowing the plan. He paid the driver before grabbing the flowers and the box of chocolates that he had bought for Y/N, clambering out of the taxi with them and his bags. He headed up the path and rang the doorbell, ready to see his best friend. He couldn't help but also feel nervous too. After all, this was the trip that he'd be using to confess his feelings to her. The door opened and Tom's smile dropped slightly as Harrison stood there.
"Oh, hey, mate. I thought that Y/N would answer the door." Tom chuckled.
"I can tell." Harrison spoke as he nodded towards the flowers and box of chocolates.
"How do you know that they're not for you?" Tom teased as he walked in, Harrison shutting the door behind him. Harrison blew him an air kiss in response, making him chuckle as he put his stuff down and looked around.
"Where's Y/N, then?" Tom asked, looking at Harrison.
"Out with Caleb." He shrugged. Tom's eyebrows furrowed.
"Who's Caleb?" he chuckled. Harrison's eyes widened slightly, and his mouth fell open.
"She didn't tell you..." he mumbled.
"Tell me what, Haz? Who is Caleb?" Tom scoffed. Harrison sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Caleb is Y/N's boyfriend." He admitted. Tom's eyes wavered at the confession, and he felt his heart shatter into a million pieces. The two of them had only been apart for a couple of months, and Tom thought that Y/N loved him, though perhaps not enough to wait for him to finally come to his senses.
"Oh. When, um, when did that happen?" he asked, trying to play it off as cool.
"About a week after we got back. She met him at a party that Harry threw." Harrison admitted. Tom's eyes widened.
"You're kidding. My own brother set them up?" he scoffed, Harrison just nodding in response.
"I've got to say, though, mate, I have limited sympathy for you. I mean, you've been pining after her for god knows how long and yet you've never made a move. Did you just think that she'd never try to move on?" he shrugged. Tom sighed and looked down.
"I don't know, I just...I thought that she loved me enough to wait for me." He mumbled.
"That's the issue. You made her wait too long." Harrison nodded. Tom's eyes wavered and he looked down.
"I guess I did, huh." He mumbled, sighing again as he gently chucked the box of chocolates onto the coffee table.
Y/N's P.O.V
"Did you have a good time?" Caleb asked, our hands joined as he walked me up the path to my house.
"Of course I did, I was with you." I returned. He smiled and nodded before leaning down and kissing me. I returned it, holding his face.
"Ahem." I broke the kiss and looked to my now open door, wincing slightly as Harrison stood there.
"Hey, Caleb." Harrison gave him a sarcastic smile.
"Mate." Caleb nodded in return as I looked at Harrison with furrowed eyebrows.
"Haz, what are you doing here?" I scoffed.
"Lovely to see you too. We were meant to facetime Tom an hour ago, and so I let myself in when you weren't here." He shrugged.
"Fuck, I forgot about that." I sighed. Since Tom had failed to confess his feelings for me two months ago, I had tried to move on and had ended up with Caleb. Since then, I had tried everything to stop myself from thinking about Tom, yet the attractive boy seemed to still be on my mind twenty-four-seven.
"I'll see you later." I nodded to Caleb.
"Bye, babe." He smiled, pecking my lips again and giving Harrison a small smile as he left.
"Thanks, Mr. cockblock." I sighed as I stepped inside, and Harrison shut the door behind me.
"Yeah, well, nothing is a better cockblock than being in love with someone who isn't your boyfriend." He nodded, making me roll my eyes.
"Anyway, I have a surprise for you." He smiled as he placed his hands firmly on my shoulders and started to walk forwards, making me walk backwards.
"What is it?" I chuckled.
"Last time I checked, that's not how surprises work." He shook his head.
"Why aren't you letting me turn around?" I smiled.
"There is nothing unusual about the way that I'm holding you right now." He returned, making me laugh as he continued to walk me backwards, without letting me turn around.
"You're being weird, Haz." I stated.
"Nope. I'm not." He smiled before stopping me and turning me around. My eyes widened as Tom stood in the middle of my living room, a smile on his lips.
"Tom, oh my god!" I gasped as I ran to him. He laughed as I pulled him into a tight hug, him lifting me up slightly as his arms wrapped securely around my waist.
"Oh, I missed you so much, Tom." I gushed, almost completely forgetting that he'd failed to tell me that he loved me the last time that we were together. Almost forgetting.
"I missed you too, darling." He spoke in my ear, gently kissing my cheek before putting me down.
"What are you doing here? I thought that you had no free time from filming for another month." I spoke.
"Yeah, well, I pulled some strings and managed to get myself a break, so I thought that I'd come and surprise you." He nodded, subtly looking at my lips as he tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. I smiled and bit my lip before my gaze drifted to the coffee table.
"Aw, are those for me?" I asked, making Tom also look at the box of chocolates and bouquet of my favourite flowers.
"Yes, actually, they are. I got your favourite." He smiled as he leant down, picking up the box before giving them to me.
"What are they for? I mean, thank you, but what did I do to deserve them?" I chuckled. Tom's eyes widened slightly, and he opened his mouth to speak, his eyes briefly flicking to Harrison for help.
"I, just...um...I just thought that you'd like them. I know that they're super expensive over here, they're cheaper in America, so I thought that I'd treat you." He nodded.
"Well, thank you, Tom. That's so kind. I can't wait to have fun with you!" I squealed, making him laugh as I hugged him tightly again.
"So, how's filming going for Spiderman?" I asked Tom, the two of us curled up on my sofa and Harrison scrolling through his phone in my armchair. Tom sighed and nodded, casually hanging his arm over my leg.
"Yeah, it's going alright. We're ahead of schedule, so that's good, but it also means that filming will end soon, and everyone will go their separate ways again." He nodded.
"Oh, that's a shame, but you, Zendaya and Jacob always stay in touch, don't you?" I asked.
"Course, yeah. I don't know, it can just be hard going from seeing them every day to only seeing them every other month, basically what happens with you guys when I'm away." He spoke. I nodded and gave him a sympathetic look as Harrison's phone went off.
"Oh, cool, Sam has just invited us to a party at his place tonight." Harrison spoke, looking up at us.
"That'll be awesome, I'll surprise them." Tom smiled. Harrison and I looked at him.
"What, you didn't tell your brothers that you were coming back?" I scoffed.
"I only got a week off, I was planning to spend it with you guys." He shrugged.
"In that case, yeah, it'll be good for them to see you. I'll invite Caleb." I smiled as I sat up, ignoring Tom gulping and the looks that he was exchanging with Harrison.
"W-well maybe it'd be nice for just the three of us to go, not to mention that Sam may not be okay with us inviting other people." Tom nodded.
"Um, yeah, I agree." Harrison backed him up.
"I'm sure it'll be okay, Sam met Caleb at Harry's party too, so he knows him, and I'm sure he'd be chill with more people being invited." I shrugged, looking down at my phone as I typed out the message to Caleb.
