Happy at last
~Six years later~
I stood in the kitchen, cutting up fruit and making pancakes as Elizabeth and Oliver sat at the marble island that stood in the middle of the room.
"Mummy, can I show you the drawing that I did for daddy?" Oliver asked in his small voice.
"Of course, sweetheart." I smiled, walking up to the boy who was basically just a mini version of Tom and looking over his shoulder at the drawing.
"So, that's me, you, daddy and Lizzy, and that's baby Ava because, in my picture, she's no longer in your tummy." He nodded, looking up at me with hazel eyes that were identical to Tom's.
"Honey, it's lovely. You want me to pin it into the fridge so that daddy will see it when he gets home?" I asked.
"Okay." He nodded again. I gave him a small smile, placing a hand on my six-month-pregnant bump as I took the paper from him and stuck it to the fridge with a magnet.
"Y/N? You here?" Harrison's voice rang out as I heard the front door open.
"UNCLE HARRISON!" both kids screamed as they jumped down from the island and rushed out of the kitchen.
"Kids, let uncle Harrison get settled first-god." I chuckled, shaking my head.
"Auntie Y/N!" I looked up and smiled as Harrison's twin sons, Alfie and Felix, ran into the kitchen.
"Hello, boys! How are you?" I chuckled as the small boys hugged my legs, neither of them tall enough to hug any higher.
"We're good. Daddy said that you're making us pancakes." Alfie giggled as they sat at the island.
"Did he now?" I sighed, playfully rolling my eyes at Harrison as he walked in, carrying Oliver in his arms and with Elizabeth hugging his leg.
"Love you." He chuckled, making me smile and shake my head as I turned back to the stove to make sure that the pancakes weren't burning.
"Tom at work already?" Harrison asked, watching the kids as he leant against the counter beside me and popped a grape into his mouth.
"Yeah. But they're in the final stretch now, the premiere is in a month and a half, so he'll be back here full-time with me and the kids for when Ava gets here." I nodded. Harrison looked at me and his eyes widened.
"Ava? It's a girl?" he asked, turning to face me. I looked at him.
"Yeah, did Tom not tell you? We found out two days ago at the most recent scan. I'd been bugging him since we could first find out to know, and he finally gave in. We're having another girl." I smiled.
"Oh, Y/N, that's amazing." Harrison returned as he hugged me.
"Thanks. Oliver wasn't exactly happy, but Elizabeth was over the moon." I chuckled. He returned it and nodded as I got the pancakes onto a plate.
"Liz, since your cousins are over, you guys can eat in front of the TV, and Uncle Harrison and I will be in here." I spoke, giving her the plate. She gave me a big smile, making me chuckle as the four of them ran off into the living room. Suddenly, my eyes widened as I felt something.
"Oh my god, Haz, come here." I spoke, making his eyes fill with worry as he rushed to me.
"What's wrong, you okay?" he gulped.
"Give me your hand, the baby's kicking." I smiled. He breathed a sigh of relief, chuckling and shaking his head before reaching out his hand. I took it and placed it on the top of my bump, both of us waiting. I looked at Harrison as the baby kicked, a smile spreading onto his lips as he felt it too.
"Jesus, she's a strong one, isn't she?" he chuckled.
"You're feeling it from the outside, it's about ten times worse from the inside." I smiled, resting a hand on my bump as Harrison sat at the table.
"So I've heard, Bethan would constantly complain about how strong the boys were when she was pregnant with them." He nodded.
"I know what she's talking about." I chuckled before returning my gaze to Harrison to find him just staring at me intently.
"Why are you staring at me like a weirdo?" I smiled. He shook his head, the smile spreading to his face too.
"I just can't believe that we're here. I mean, fifteen years ago, it was the three of us, with you and Tom refusing to admit your feelings for each other and one of you missing the mark each time, and with me, mostly failing, trying to get you guys together. Now, it's the three of us, but with two mini-me's running around the place, a mini-Y/N, a mini-Tom and then another mini-Y/N on the way. It's..." he chuckled, shaking his head as he struggled to find the word.
"Perfect?" I smiled, leaning against the counter with my hands on my bump.
"Perfect is an understatement." He returned, standing up and gently kissing my head before heading into the living room with the kids. I smiled and bit my lip, looking down at my bump as I knew that Harrison was right. Tom and I worked hard for our family, and I thanked anything that was out there every day that we did.
I sat on the sofa, hands cradling my bump as I watched TV on the sofa.
"Would you rather...be a cat, or be a dog?" Oliver asked, looking up at me from drawing on the floor.
"Hmm...well, your daddy loves dogs, so a dog. Hey, did we ever tell you that we used to have a dog? Well, she was your daddy's but then we obviously started dating. She was called Tessa, a gorgeous thing she was." I smiled.
"Yeah, mummy, you've told us, you or daddy tell us every time you get sentimental." Elizabeth giggled.
"Well excuse me for reminiscing about the days before you two little monsters." I teased, starting to tickle Elizabeth's side and making her squeal.
"I'm home!" Tom's voice called out as the front door shut.
"DADDY!" both kids screamed as they shot up. Tom appeared at the doorway, his eyes brightening as he knelt down to hug his children.
"Hello, my two little angels! I hope that you've been good for mummy and uncle Harrison." He chuckled, smiling at me as he walked in.
"How was work?" I asked as he sat down next to me on the sofa, placing a hand on my bump as he leant in to kiss me.
"It was fine. Had a meeting about a press tour, and it's lucky that you got pregnant when you did because it starts in six months." He nodded.
"I don't know, Tommy, I'm going to have my hands full with two kids under the age of ten and a new-born baby." I sighed.
"I know, darling, but Haz is willing to help out, and they know that I'm a dad to two young kids and that I'll have a new-born by then, so they're giving me as many breaks home as possible." He spoke. I sighed and nodded, giving him a small smile.
"Daddy, we were playing "Would you rather", you want to join in?" Oliver asked, making Tom smile as he picked his son up and sat him on his lap.
"Sure, bud, give me a question." He nodded. Oliver looked up for a moment, clearly trying to think of what to ask before looking back at Tom.
"Would you rather...go back and be Spiderman again but never meet mummy, or never be Spiderman, but meet mummy and have us?" he asked innocently. I looked at Oliver, Tom's eyes widening as he opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out for a moment.
"Love, that's a very deep question. Of course I would rather have you and Liz and mummy over Spiderman, there's no way that I'd go back and do it again if it meant that I lost you guys. Why did you ask that, bud?" he asked, his eyes full of concern as he gently moved a strand of Oliver's hazel curls out of his brown eyes.
"Just curious." The boy shrugged. Tom scoffed and looked at me, making me sigh and shake my head.
"Okay, I think that it's time for bed, kiddy-winks." Tom nodded as he stood from the sofa, picking Oliver up from his lap as he did.
"But I'm not even tired!" Elizabeth whined.
"Daddy's right, Liz, it's a school day tomorrow and it's getting late for two little children." I spoke.
"Oliver is little, I'm not." The stubborn seven-year-old huffed.
"Well if you're not little, then you can no longer have daddy's spaceship rides." Tom warned. Elizabeth's eyes widened.
"No! I'm little too, I want a daddy spaceship ride!" she squealed, jumping up. I chuckled and shook my head, Tom flashing me a smile as he knelt down in front of Elizabeth, Oliver still in his arms too.
"Hop on then, little astronaut." He played along. He "oofed" slightly as Elizabeth jumped onto his back, her small arms wrapping around his neck as he stood up and carried them upstairs. I sighed, collecting up the dishes from the living room before easing myself off of the sofa and walking into the kitchen. I put everything by the sink before filling the basin up with warm and soapy water, dousing the dishes in the water. I smiled and bit my lip as I felt a familiar set of muscular arms wrap around my waist and gently stop at my bump as a set of thin lips started to kiss my neck.
"The kids are in bed, and I'm in the mood for some fun." Tom hummed against my neck, making me smirk as I dried my hands.
"Slow down, mister, we've already got one bun in the oven, don't need another one." I replied, making him laugh as I turned around in his arms. He looked at me and his smiled dipped slightly.
"You know the question that Oliver asked? Did it bother you?" he asked, his eyebrows knotted together in concern.
"I don't know, he's only small, he probably didn't mean anything by it. Did it bother you?" I asked, grabbing a tea towel and starting to dry the dishes. Tom sighed and looked at me.
"I guess, yeah. I mean, he's five years old, he shouldn't be worrying about whether or not his dad would choose him and his family, or a fucking job, if he got the chance to go back in time. Am I really away enough for him to think that I would choose a job over you guys?" he gulped. I sighed and put down the towel before walking up to him and looping my arms over his shoulders, making his hands find my waist.
"No, you're not away enough for him to think that. He's five, baby, he probably wasn't thinking." I spoke. Tom's eyes wavered and he looked down, making me sigh again.
"Look, Tommy, you're an amazing dad, to both Elizabeth and Oliver, and you'll be an amazing dad to Ava too. The kids know that every time you get offered a job that would seriously impact you being able to be their dad, you choose them in a heartbeat. They know that you love your little family." I chuckled, moving my hands to rest them against his chest. He looked at me.
"You sure, darling?" he gulped.
"I'm positive, babe. He's five and he loves his daddy. It'll be okay." I promised. Tom gave me a small smile and nodded before leaning in and pressing our lips together. I returned it, holding his face as we kissed. I broke the kiss and looked at him.
"Come on, let's put this baby to bed." I chuckled as I cupped my bump. Tom playfully rolled his eyes at me and nodded as he stood up straight, gently placing his hand on my bump as I started to walk. I squealed as suddenly, Tom swiped my legs from underneath me and picked me up bridal style.
"Tom!" I laughed.
"What? I always do this." He grinned.
"Not when I'm getting to the point of being heavily pregnant, you don't." I giggled. He shrugged and pecked my cheek, making me chuckle as he carried me up the stairs, his strong biceps meaning that I was no challenge for him to carry. Tom reached the door to our bedroom and gently put me down. I blew him a kiss, making him smile as he took off his shirt and I took out my earrings.
"Have you got anything on tomorrow?" I asked as I took my clothes off and replaced them with Tom's white dress shirt that I'd worn to bed every night for fifteen years now, him changing into grey sweatpants and nothing else.
"No, I'm free for once. So, I'll take the kids to school, and then I was thinking a movie, or bowling or something after I collect them." He shrugged.
"I'd suggest the cinema. They both want to see that new animated Batman movie." I mumbled.
"Do not tell Haz that, he'll never let me forget it." He warned. I smirked and shook my head as I climbed into bed next to him and pulled the covers over my growing bump.
"You can't not take your children to see a movie because of a petty fight that you two have kept going since we were kids." I chuckled.
"Oh no, I'll take them to see it, I'm just not going to tell Haz." He shrugged, making me laugh as he rolled over and turned his bedside table light off. He rolled back over and wrapped his arm around my waist, landing his hand against my bump.
"Goodnight, darling, I love-." The door opened, making us both look up as Elizabeth and Oliver stood at the door.
"What are you two doing up? Daddy put you to bed ages ago." I sighed.
"Neither of us can sleep." Elizabeth shrugged as they walked in.
"And is that because you were keeping each other up?" Tom asked accusingly as he sat up.
"I guess you'll never know." Oliver giggled as he clambered into the bed next to Tom and Elizabeth climbed in next to me.
"Don't be so cheeky." Tom chuckled, kissing his son's head as we put the two of them between our bodies, Elizabeth against my bump and Oliver curled into Tom's body.
"Right, you two need to sleep, it's school tomorrow." I sighed.
"We will, mummy, I promise." Elizabeth nodded.
"Uh-huh." Tom chuckled before looking at me.
"As I was saying before our bed was invaded by our children, goodnight, I love you." He spoke.
"I love you too, Tommy." I smiled. He returned it before leaning in and gently kissing me. I returned it and broke the kiss before resting my head against the pillow. Tom's arm curled over my waist again, pulling me and the kids slightly closer to him as he rested his chin on top of my head. I let my eyes flutter shut as I let out a small sigh of bliss. I drifted further into sleep, my life finally being perfect and feeling complete as I fell asleep next to my children, and in the arms of the love of my life. Tom.
