Baby Holland
Tom stood outside the hospital's nursery, leaning against the windowsill as he stared at his daughter through the glass. He gulped, wanting to feel nothing but joy for the beautiful little baby that he was lucky enough to call his, but he couldn't until he knew that Y/N was going to be okay. He wanted nothing more than to just have his little family. He looked up, swallowing thickly as Harrison walked up to him.
"Any news?" he gulped.
"Yes, actually. They stabilised her. She's currently on a lot of drugs and so is asleep, but she's going to be absolutely fine." He nodded. Tom's eyes wavered, a tear leaving his eye as he puffed out and put a hand against his chest.
"Oh my god, I've never felt such relief in my life." He sighed in relief, resting against the window.
"I'm pretty sure that I can say the same. Congrats, your fiancé is going to be okay and you can now fully celebrate the birth of your first child." Harrison smiled as he patted him on the back. Tom returned it and nodding, wiping his eyes as he joined Harrison in looking into the nursery.
"That's her, right there." He nodded, pointing to the hospital cot labelled "Baby Holland".
"Mate, I don't know what to say. She's gorgeous." Harrison smiled.
"I know. She already takes after her mum." He returned, making Harrison chuckle and shake his head as a nurse came out of the nursery.
"Sir, do you want to take your baby back to your partner's maternity suite?" she asked. Tom looked at her.
"I can take her back?" he asked.
"Of course. She's been weighed and checked, she's a little underweight but that's to be expected given that she's come a month early. Apart from that, perfectly healthy, and ready to see mummy." She smiled. Tom returned it and nodded, smiling at Harrison as the nurse went back into the nursery and grabbed the plastic cot. She wheeled it out to Tom, making his smile widen as he looked down at his sleeping daughter.
"Hello, beautiful girl. Aren't you precious?" he cooed, gently tickling her stomach as she continued to sleep.
"You coming?" he asked, looking at Harrison.
"Not yet, I'll give you and Y/N some alone time with her before I show up. Also, someone does need to tell your parents and brothers that Y/N had the baby." He chuckled. Tom's eyes widened.
"How the hell did I forget to tell them? Fuck, it just left my mind." He sighed.
"Given what happened, I don't blame you. I'll call them, see you in a bit." He nodded. Tom returned it and gave him a small smile as Harrison walked away. He turned back to his daughter, the smile returning to his lips.
"Come on then, love, let's go see mummy." He cooed as he started to push the cot down the corridor.
Y/N's P.O.V
"Hello, gorgeous girl."
"You hungry, love? We'll feed you once mummy wakes up."
"Ooh, big yawn."
My eyes fluttered open as I heard Tom's voice. I opened my eyes fully, my eyebrows furrowing slightly as I appeared to be back in my maternity suite. I looked to my side, a smile immediately spreading onto my lips as Tom sat by my hospital bed, looking down at the baby cradled in his arms.
"Tommy." I whispered, making him look at me. His eyes widened.
"Oh, sweetheart, thank god. You gave us quite the scare." He sighed in relief as he stood up and hugged me, though being careful whilst cradling our baby.
"What happened?" I asked groggily.
"We almost lost her. And then, we almost lost you. Needless to say that I'm extremely relieved that you're both okay." He nodded. I gave him a small smile and returned the nod before my eyes shifted down. I looked at the little blanketed bundle in Tom's arms, making him follow my gaze.
"You want to meet her?" he asked quietly. I looked up at him through tear-pricked eyes.
"It's a girl?" I smiled.
"Yeah. Turns out that we were right to be calling her "her" for the last five months." He chuckled, making me laugh as he gently lowered her into my arms. I bit my lip, tears leaving my eyes as I wrapped my arms around her.
"Hello, beautiful girl." I whispered, unable to stop my smile from growing as I looked down at our little daughter. My smile dipped slightly.
"Tommy, is she meant to be this small?" I gulped.
"Considering that she came a month early, yeah. They said that due to her being premature, she is underweight, but not unhealthily so. She just needs to eat well in the next month, and she'll be perfectly okay." He reassured. I sighed in relief and nodded as I looked at her.
"Now then, since the pregnancy is over, we need to start talking about the wedding." he chuckled.
"Tom, I've just had a baby, I'm not wearing a wedding dress for at least six months." I scoffed, making him laugh as he sat on the bed next to me and gently pulled me into his side.
"You always look stunning, darling." He spoke, making me smile as he gently kissed my head. Both of us looked up as the door opened and Harrison appeared.
"I know that you guys have been through hell today, but Tom's family is here." He smiled sheepishly.
"It's okay, they can come in." I chuckled.
"You sure, babe? They'd understand if you didn't want to see them, given what you've been through." Tom nodded.
"The nurses said that I'm okay, so I'm okay. Anyway, it's their granddaughter and niece, of course they're going to want to see her." I shrugged.
"Alright then." Tom chuckled, nodding at Harrison. He returned it before ducking his head out of the room for a moment. A second later, he walked fully in, followed by Tom's parents and brothers.
"Y/N, Harrison told us what happened, are you okay?" Nicki gulped, immediately hugging me.
"A little shaken, but I'm alright. Just glad that she's okay." I smiled as I looked at our baby.
"She's stunning, you two." Dom stated, making us smile.
"What's her name?" Sam asked. Tom and I looked at each other.
"Go on, Tommy." I reassured. He gave me a small smile and gently kissed my head before looking at his family.
"We were pretty sure that we were having a girl, so we picked the name Elizabeth. Elizabeth Nicola Holland." He revealed.
"Oh, you guys are too kind." Nicki smiled, biting her lip as tears pricked her eyes.
"Can I hold her?" Harrison asked. I nodded and sat up slightly, Harrison meeting me halfway as he bent down and gently took her into his arms.
"There we go." He cooed, smiling down at her as Tom's parents and brothers all crowded around her. Tom looked down at me and gently stroked his hand through his hair.
"I know that this isn't what parents are meant to say on the day that their first child is born, but today has been the worst day of my life. Thinking that we had lost her, and then thinking that I had lost you." He mumbled. I sighed as I felt a drop of water on my head, telling me that Tom was crying.
"Surely her getting to us safely outweighs those things?" I asked.
"Now that I know you're both okay, definitely. But before, when I didn't know what was going on, it was the worst feeling that I've ever experienced. I felt like my heart had been ripped out of my chest, first when Harrison told me that something was wrong with her, and then when they started to lose you in the surgery. I never want to feel that again." He shook his head, his eyes wavering as tears left them. I looked up at him and sighed.
"And you never will, Tommy. I'm okay, and she's okay, and I'm sure that any more children that we have will be okay too. You're never going to lose either of us, alright?" I asked as I gently cupped his cheek. He looked at me.
"Alright." He nodded. I gave him a small smile and leant up, joining our lips. He returned it, gently cupping my cheek before breaking the kiss and touching our foreheads. I smiled at him before nestling my head into his chest and letting him wrap his arms further around me. I sighed in bliss, suddenly becoming aware of how utterly exhausted I was. I yawned and let my eyes flutter shut, taking the opportunity to catch up on some sleep knowing that Elizabeth was safe and that I too was safe, in Tom's arms.
