9 - The little things that matter
Iseul's POV
Jin oppa surprised me when he took me by the hand to into his room after breakfast.
I'd just walked downstairs to meet him and the guys when he saw me, his face lighting up as I walked towards him.
"Oh good, you're here, I need to tell you something important." Jin says, taking my hand in his, interlocking his fingers with mine and walking me back up the stairs.
"Oppa! Aren't we going out now!?" I asked him, confused with his behaviour.
"Yes babe, but first I need to tell you two really important things." Oppa replies as he pulls me into his room, and shuts the door behind me dramatically.
He pins me to the door, holds me by my waist, kissing my neck briefly, then my lips and pulls back smiling like someone on a high.
"So- sorry... I can't help my myself. I love you and I'm really going to miss you when you're gone back home." He says sadly, then clears his throat.
"I love you too Jin. And I'm planning another visit sooner than you think." I say to him, hugging him and placing my head on his chest.
"Uh- about you going back to Seoul... Tae and I were talking just now in the kitchen and we realised something about our brother So-jin." Jin seemed to have sobered up from his high as he now looked more like the serious business man I saw the night he saved my life.
It was very sexy. But I paid attention because I knew that look well...
"What's wrong oppa?" I asked him, not sure what to say.
"Okay, it's just a theory based on what you and Tae have shared with me... and his addition, applying the curse of having a twin." He says in a low, deep voice.
"I think he's kidnapped his daughter as a way to claim a ransom from Mr. Ji and my parents, because both parties love their granddaughter so much. We're guessing he wants to claim Taehyung's shares and my inheritance from our parent's and grandparents- " He paused, looking at me carefully, running his thumb over my lips distractedly.
" -and he wants to use Yoon-ah to take over Hana Enterprises.... It's not much to go by. But it's a hunch I have." Jin finishes, looking into my eyes, as if reading my thoughts.
I had to say, I'm impressed by his deductions. And I agree with him.
My very own Sherlock Holmes.
"I thought about what you said last night, too. And I think you're absolutely right oppa. I've been having second thoughts about going back because I'm worried either your twin or my so called sister would either harass or try to harm us. But I need to go back because I only have a two-day stay approved..." I sniffed, holding him tighter as he gently stroked my hair.
At some point I had began to tear up, and so did Jin.
We realised this when we looked at each other and broke into small smiles, laughing at our silliness.
"I tell you what, let's just be safe okay. I'll book you a flight for another day? And even if you don't get a flight, you have your passport kept safe here right?" He says to me, brushing a stray strand of hair behind my ear and holding me again.
"Yes, but I have meetings oppa. I need to go back t-" But he places a finger over my lips.
Okay then...
Well... I do have a month's leave approved... HR finally approved it this morning!
I didn't think he'd come around so soon, and since he did, I was going to head back to the office after the two days I had this weekend if HR decided to reject my leave.
But... I guess I'll be staying...
"I'm having a bad feeling about home right now for you. And I don't think it's safe for you, my girlfriend, to go back all alone just yet." Jin says, holding my face in both his palms.
"Especially since I'm not there to physically protect you from my twin. He looks like me Iseul. He knows things even if we try to conceal them. God only knows how he finds these things out! I just want you to be safe." He says to me, pressing his forehead to mine, his eyes closed.
I felt his tears fall onto my cheeks and reached up to wipe his eyes.
"Hey... come on now oppa don't cry. I'll stay if it's really bothering you. I do have a month's worth of leave that was just approved by Diane in HR - she's been giving everyone hell since you Kim brothers resigned! I'd taken some time off to find you and gather my thoughts, but since I found you sooner, I was going to head back to the office since I could only get a booking for two days in Québec City. But, I trust you. So I am going to stay as long as I can." I said to my boyfriend, kissing his left cheek.
"You got a whole month free?!" He says, his eyes lighting up.
"Yes. I applied for a month's leave to find you. I couldn't take it anymore at that place. In fact, I had also sent in my resignation. But they rejected the resignation and only my leave was approved because HR felt that too many people were resigning in such a short space of time and since I am the 'daughter' of the boss, I was asked to reconsider my resignation. So I said I will but after a month." I grinned at him, kissing his other cheek.
Jin was so over the moon; he kissed me full on the lips, then he quickly stopped himself as he was about to pick me up and carry me over to his bed.
"Okay-" He huffed, his beautiful smile telling me everything I need to know. "I'll behave now Jagiya." He whispered, his arms still hugging me.
"Come on, I want to go out! You said you'd show me Québec, Jin oppa!" I say to him, pulling him out of the room and walk downstairs into the living room.
"Oh... finally Mr. And Mrs. Kim walk out of the room!" Taehyung rolled his eyes sarcastically at us.
"I'm actually a Park.... not a Kim..." I corrected him, trying my best to smooth my hair over.
"Iseul agreed to stay. And she's already taken a month's worth of leave before coming here which was onky approved today!" Jin grinned at his friend and little brother, who stared at us in bewilderment.
"Iseul didn't you say you have - Oh... yes... you had a two day booking at the hotel. Then I guess we have no problems here." Yoongi says to me cheerfully, giving me a hug.
"But Jin oppa, what am I going to do for the next month in Canada?" I turned to ask my boyfriend.
The plan sounded great until I realised I'd be bored out of my mind with no work to keep me occupied while they were all at the office, as I was officially on leave.
Maybe I could help him with some gardening... (in addition to my share of the chores).
I noticed that Yoongi oppa had some brilliant plants growing in his back yard - I could tend to those and maybe add a few Begonias or Daisies.
Hmmmmm.... I'm going to have to research what kinds of plants grown well here in Québec. Maybe I could add roses.
"Don't you stress about that Iseul. I have a wonderful itinerary planned for you." Jin winked at me, and something about that wink told me that it was more than him pulling me into corners to make out. I knew that look in his eyes well.
Kim Seokjin was up to something.

Seoul, South Korea
Amidst a rainy backstreet not far from Hana Enterprises...
A man stood in the alley of a backstreet, smoking a cigarette when his phone had rang.
He was well into what sounded like a deep conversation, the speaker clearly asking him for his opinion.
" ... and I received a call from So-jin about the case we're handling, though I evaded his questions. Yeah... it's the one related to the psycho who apparently had died... but she's still alive somehow... it gave the entire department a heart attack - it was a real sight." The man paused to listen.
"Yeah, she's the daughter of that business tycoon Ji Dong-Woo... Look, I don't know about that hyung... I don't want get involved, especially since this is now involving both your older brothers and both the Ji sisters." The man paused to listen to the speaker on the other end of the line once more.
He grunted in agreement with the speaker, nodding out of habit.
"There's a child involved Taehyung hyung... yes, she's safe. She is with social services now. It's traumatising for a ten year-old... my daughter would probably do the same." He said into the receiver, pausing to hear whatever his Taehyung hyung had to say.
It sounded important, because the man stiffened and nodded every few seconds, grunting and humming in agreement.
"Okay, I'll do this just for you and Seokjin hyung, seeing as she's your niece too. Alright then, please send me his number and his email address. I'll call him up for more details." The man's face suddenly broke into a broad smile.
Taehyung continued speaking, his rich deep voice almost audible to a passerby.
"That's a good move. Keep her safe with you guys. Yeah, don't worry about the legal shit... I have a contact in Canada that can help you with that part. Does she have her passport kept safe? Nah... then she should be good. Okay, see ya around Tae."
The 26 year-old man named Zachary Peterson looked serious as he'd hung up the call from Canada.
'It's now or never Zac. The Kim brothers need you. It's your chance to repay Seokjin hyung for all his kindness.' The young man sighed to himself.
Zachary Peterson was a high ranking officer at the Seoul police department. He'd been assigned the messy case of the Ji and Kim families' continued drama. And it was up to him to end this chaos.
Kim So-jin had recently broken out of jail and had gone straight to Ji's mansion where his 10 year-old daughter lived. Meanwhile, Ji Yoon-ah had risen from the dead - probably another act for attention as she'd always been so dramatic even when she was little.
But before So-jin could lay a finger on his daughter, the old man, Mr. Ji, had the girl moved to a safe house with social workers chipping in to assist.
And... Zachary knew about something else too.
An interesting piece of information that turned the tables completely...
If So-jin found out about it ... He'd go straight for her.
But it's his - Zachary Peterson's - job to make sure that Kim So-jin never discovered this piece of information.
And in order to do that, Zachary had to find Yoon-ah and take her into police custody - before that crazy bitch blabbed everything to her boyfriend. Because Kim So-jin and Ji Yoon-ah never actually broke up. It was all a little stunt to get rid of Seokjin hyung all those years ago.
'And when that had royally failed, they decided to fake Yoon-ah's death. As if that would transfer the Ji inheritance to So-jin! Pssht....' Zac snorted. He'd been around long enough to have witnessed most of this for himself.
But he was just a student then.
So-jin was dumber than he looked. His planning was sloppy and was heavily fueled by his hatred for his older twin. It's a pity he was Seokjin hyung's younger twin.
The two were nothing alike.
"It's me. Do you have the girl? ... Good. Keep an eye on her. She's a vital part of this case." He clicked the phone off and dropped his cigarette into a puddle on the road, as he walked off into the gloomy night, the rain still pouring down in sheets.
He needed to send that email before it was too late.

Taehyung's POV
Jin hyung trusted me with the task of calling Zac. We were classmates and had always remained in contact.
Even after I'd began working at Hana.
Zac was an orphan who was adopted by a middle class family that couldn't afford to pay for his university tuition fees. Hyung, however, had paid for everything upfront anonymously, but Zac had later found out who it was when he investigated, being unable to rest until he could meet the person. He wanted to thank the God sent angel.
Jin hyung refused to take the money he offered as a repayment; and Zac was looking for a way to repay Jin hyung.
But that wasn't why Jin hyung had asked me to call Zac.
The real reason we were calling Zachary Peterson - or as he preferred we called him, Zac - was that he was recently promoted and is the new Chief Investigating Officer at the Seoul police department. If anyone was able to help us, it was Zac.
And he's just emailed Jin hyung and me some interesting documents. Being the Chief Investigating Officer had its perks. Mr. Ji's lawyer handed over all the documents to Zac almost instantly, claiming that Zac was making it easier for him.
Iseul probably didn't even know how lucky she is to have chosen this weekend to fly to Canada.

Jin's POV
Yoongi's house, living room - 16h00
The four of us sat in silence as we absorbed the news that Zachary had shared with Taehyung and me. I received the email, thinking it would just be a case number and some details about the case that was reopened.
Instead, they were lawyer's letters and a will.
I scrolled through the papers again as I sat in silence.
Iseul sat next to me, in shock, her hand covered her mouth as she mumbled something over and over in Korean.
She wasn't aware of this. And it clearly shook her.
Yoon-ah wasn't Mr. Ji's daughter either. She was his step daughter. As a result, he didn't trust her, especially since her recent stunts with Iseul and me.
So, being the silent, kind hearted man he is, Ji Dong-Woo had transferred all his properties and businesses over on to Iseul's name, with immediate effect.
She was now the main shareholder of Hana Enterprises and the Ji empire.
Apparently Mr. Ji had been planning all of this for a while, because the transfer was approved two days ago. The day Iseul had landed here in Québec.
'Well... if that's the case, Iseul doesn't need to go back to the office!' I grinned to myself. She's now the new boss.
"Can you believe this guys?!" She says out loud after what feels like an hour of everyone sitting in silence.
"Nope... I'm just as perplexed by this as you are, Jagiya." I replied in a hushed tone, shaking my head in disbelief.
"But it makes perfect sense Iseul. It's not like Yoon-ah was reliable enough. Imagine if Mr. Ji transferred everything to her by some delusional mishap." Yoongi, the voice of reason, said to her.
"Park Iseul... owner of Hana Enterprises Ltd." Taehyung mused. He'd been lost in deep thought as well for the past half an hour or so.
"And to think we all worked there just three weeks ago..." Iseul laughed, sobering up from the shock of receiving such news.
"Uh... I haven't. But I'll be happy to do business with you miss Park." Yoongi grinned at my girlfriend.
"Good idea! We can set something up. But first, I'm concerned about this case." She sighed, massaging her forehead and temples with her fingertips.
"I knew there was a reason I asked you to stay. Imagine if you landed in Seoul tonight and So-jin's goons kidnapped you! What would I have done from here!" I panicked - even though there was no need to.
My heart raced, blood rushing through my brain, giving me a headache. I wouldn't be able able handle it if anything happened to my love.
'We need to be cautious about our next move. Anything can happen now.'
