Depression...very common now a days...I would help them be positive, help them think of the good in life and that life isn't so bad..I mean that person who's close to me dealing with depression got good friends...it's either she/he does something about it (besides suicide) or stay depressed...without pretending to be happy...just think about the people who loves them and the people who loves you...that might actually love you back...try to have fun and try to be happy...if none of these work...confront someone about this that you think might help...sometimes telling someone about this helps you face it....
