Voltron: Legendary Defender (Plus Season 3 Review-of-Sorts)
Three days ago, since everyone had been talking about it, and since the third season was going to come out on August 4, I decided to check it out on Netflix.
Now I'm obsessed.
You do not understand. I binged both seasons in two days.
Like??? No show has ever compelled me to do something like that???
The characters are awesome and relatable, the story is great, the animation is spot-on...
Almost everything about the show is enjoyable, and honestly while I was watching, I didn't even focus on the shipping (though there are some fantastic pairings in the fandom), legit everything was enough to keep me entertained.
The fight scenes are what really got me in, though. I'm usually not a fan of action or sci-fi but wow did Voltron drag me in with those explosions and tense fights.
And my dad is low-key berating me for liking it more than Voltez V, which is also a good and very similar show, but...I don't bother with it at the moment.
Did I mention the plot twists??? Those are awesome, too.
The official season 3 trailer released today looks bomb, though.

However! I wouldn't recommend watching it if you're currently watching Voltron, or planning on watching it soon. There's a...uh...spoiler.
Gah, I'm just so excited!
Edit (4/5/17): Okay...wow. That was a doozy of a season. Only seven episodes, though? Really? But wow, what tragic backstories...and man, am I in love with Lotor and his crew. Talk about squad goals. And walking L'oreal commercials.
I might also get into a bit of a ship rant.
Although some bits during the middle of the season were choppy, and the pace sometimes felt way too fast, I heartily enjoyed every minute of it—including the Klance scenes.
It's funny that everyone gave up hope for the ship becoming canon, and then when it came out...it gave Klance/Laith shippers almost everything they could've wanted.
I'll be honest, I wasn't that into Klance during the first two seasons. But with all of those explicitly fond, touching scenes between the two of them...I'm actually predicting it's endgame now. Like, seriously expecting it to be canon.
It's way different from all of my other ships. I see John and Sherlock on-screen and I don't expect them to kiss, because that wouldn't be realistic and I know what's real and what's fanfiction. Same with Dean and Castiel. But when Keith and Lance are on-screen, you are basically watching a fanfiction. All the tropes are laid bare, and you'd have to be a fool to ignore the signs, even if you do ship Sheith, or LanceLot, or whatever.
*sigh* Okay I think that's it.
I was really happy with the character development concerning Lance and Hunk and Allura...but new Shiro in general bothers me.
For one, he can't style his hair to save his life. Give me back his old hair. Or at least keep the long hair!
Second thing wrong was the way he acted toward Keith. I don't know, something about it...it makes me suspicious.
I'm totally up for the theory of him being a clone of the real Shiro. He...he's not himself. And really, his whole presence makes me uncomfortable.
I loved the throwbacks to the original show, though, with Lotor's helmet and Sven. Also, I don't really have a stance on whether it was a good or bad idea to split the thirteen episodes into seasons three and four, but overall, this was a very, very good season. Really good.
I can't wait until October!
