June 23, 2017.

Ah, the bell rings for the last day of school. Everyone leaves their lockers open as they bolt for the door, shouting and celebrating and hugging their teachers goodbye. I stroll down the hallway, savoring the final time I step out of this building until September. 

We stared at the clock. We signed yearbooks. We sat around with nothing to do. 

That was all we did today.

All of it is even better considering we were released at 10:30 in the morning. 

Riding home on the bus, the bus driver drops us closer to home, and we give him the biggest of thank-you's. The birds and rabbits greet us, the sun welcomes us, and the breeze engulfs us as we chase each other down the street.

We are free at last!

No more homework, no more studying, no more waking up early, no more, no more, no more!

And so with a hearty goodbye, I bid you adieu, 2017 school year, and welcome summer with open arms. As long as I wear long sleeves.

I mean have you seen those bugs? They are nasty!

But yeah! Freedom!
