So I found this video by the channel Ms.Mojo on YouTube and I obviously was pretty excited! What Ms.Mojo does is just endless Top 10 lists! They've posted other musical related videos in the past but none that I thought were all that discussion worthy!

So if you don't feel like watching the video, they based the rules off of the fact that these couples had to be from musical adaptations only. So if the musical was a movie first then it didn't count. Like Hairspray for example did not count because it was a movie first and not a stage musical.

So in this chapter I'm just going to be recapping the list that they gave and my personal opinions about the matter because I had a lot of thoughts and I thought you guys might as well!

10. Sandy and Danny - Grease

So I'm kind of confused as to how Sandy and Danny made this list because Grease was a movie long before a musical but I think they seem to make the argument that Sandy's last name is different so it's a different character? I think that's stretching it a lot but I guess they felt obligated to place them on the list. Either way I think Danny and Sandy are a really sweet couple and the whole opposite attracts thing is very sweet in this musical! There's a lot of different dynamics and layers to the progression of their relationship which make it interesting and all together quite satisfying! I'm not a huge fan of the fact that she completely changes her goodgirl image for him but she does it because she loves him and he attempts to change for her too so I suppose it works out! I think 10 is a good place for this couple even though they really shouldn't have been on the list based on the rules!

9. Jack Kelly and Kathrine Plumber - Newsies

To be honest, I think Jack and Katherine should have been way higher on this list! They are one of my favorite musical couples! I think they are so cute and they benefit each other so much! They both have such charming dispositions that it makes their love believable and entertaining! 'Something to Believe In' is one of the greatest love songs as well! Their love is just so pure! However, the musical doesn't really focus very much on their love story aspect so I do understand why they didn't end up higher on the list!

8. Eliza Schuyler and Alexander Hamilton - Hamilton

This one makes me so mad! Eliza and Alexander shouldn't have even been considered for this list! They weren't a great couple because Alexander was terrible to Eliza in the musical!!! He never listened to her, he ignored her wishes, and he cheats on her!!!!! He cheats on her and then reveals it to the whole world to save his own image!!!!!! He advised her son to participate in a duel, that he died in and then participated in his own stupid duel that got him killed!!!! In the musical, Alexander does everything for himself and nothing for Eliza and she deserved so so so much better from him! Their relationship is cute in Eliza's perspective because she loved him so much but I don't think they had a good relationship at all because she clearly cared way more about him then he did her.

7. Sky Masterson and Sarah Brown - Guys and Dolls

I was so happy that they including Guys and Dolls on this list! My favorite couple in Guys and Dolls are Nathan and Adelaide but since the musicals focuses more on Sky and Sarah I understand why they were chosen for the list! But Sky and Sarah are really cute! It's fun to watch Sarah fall in love with him because she becomes so giddy and happy that it's just heartwarming throughout the whole musical! Sky is so charming and fun and everything he does to help Sarah with the missionary is really sweet and shows a lot of progression in him! They truly bring out the best in each other so it's hard not to love them together!!!!

6. Elphaba and Fiyero - Wicked

So I don't really have any string opinions about Elphaba and Fiyero because I ship them but I also ship Fiyero and Glinda so I'd say this is appropriately ranked. I think Elphaba brings out a lot of good traits in Fiyero such as being a little less shallow but he brings out a softer side to Elphaba as well so they're a pretty nice pairing!

5. Angel Dumott Schunard and Tom Collins - Rent

So I've never seen or heard anything from Rent besides Seasons of Love so I have no idea if this is a cute couple or not. If anyone could enlighten me that would be great! It seems from the video that they are very close and have a lot in common so I'm sure they're a great couple but I truly have no idea.

4. Marius and Cosette - Les Miserables

I'm sure you guys could imagine my excitement for this one! I didn't think they'd be on the list since so many people are against this pairing so I was thrilled! I think Marius and Cosette are such a lovely couple and it's so sweet I've talked about this a lot before so I'll keep it brief but I am so in love with this pairing so I was thrilled to see it on this list!

3. Tevye and Golde - Fiddler on the Roof

I was so shocked that this was on the list!!!! And at first I was like 'no? They aren't a good couple?' But then thinking about it they completely are! They aren't cute or cuddly nor anything like that but they love each other in such a pure way! A way in which they want the bets for each other and want each other to be comfortable and eat well and sleep well and such! That's so sweet because they had an arranged marriage that grew into a love that they barely realized but they did!!! That being
said, I do think they are a little high on the list but honestly it's such goals that's it's fine!

2. Captain and Maria Von Trapp - The Sound of Music

So I also don't have a lot to say about this one because I've only seen The Sound of Music once, but in multiple parts so I don't remember it very well. (I know that makes me a terrible theatre fan) In my memory I think they were really really cute! I remember the scene that they dance and that was really sweet so I'm sure this is appropriately rated!

Honorable Mentions:

Evan Hanson and Zoe Murphy - Dear Evan Hanson

Okay so I'm really really really really sorry but I don't agree with this at all! I don't think they should have been considered either because their love blossoms based on lies..... about her brother! Maybe I'm looking at it the wrong way but I really really just can't get behind this one! I could go a little further but I really don't want to upset anyone so I'll just keep it as such! I'm really sorry I don't want to make anyone mad or anything it's just my opinion!

Billy Crocker and Hope Harcourt - Anything Goes

I've never seen Anything Goes and I know nothing about it so I have no idea if they are cute or not!

Curly McLain and Laurey Williams - Oklahoma!

I sadly haven't seen Oklahoma in a very very long time so I do not remember this couple well! The song 'People Will Say We're in Love' is a favorite of mine so I definitely believe that these two are a cute couple!

... and last but not least...

1. Tony and Maria - West Side Story

Obviously Tony and Maria have the best love story ever! Considering it's based on Romeo and Juliet which is considered to be the most romantic story, then Maria and Tony definitely win in terms of musicals! 'Maria' is one of the most heartwarming and sweetest love songs of all time because it embodies love so well in its receptiveness! You can tell how in love Tony is with Maria immediately and it's so precious! And of course he balcony scene is just gorgeous!! And of course that finale!!!!!!!! I don't want to spoil it in case you guys haven't seen it but my goodness it's just beautiful in its own way. If you haven't seen West Side Story and you want a beautiful and dramatic romance definitely watch it! It's wonderful! I definitely agree with this placement on the list!

I was slightly shocked at the lack of Christine and Raoul but I suppose it makes sense that they wouldn't be concluded since it's so widely disputed as to who Christine actually loved!

I was also interested to see a lack of Jaime and Cathy since I figured they'd be included for the sake of being including but I was glad to not see them on the list as they clearly didn't work out at a couple!
