Okay so if you guys don't know what Raoulstine and Erikstine are (I'm sure you do but just in case) they are the ship names for either Raoul and Christine or Erik and Christine. So this chapter will be my opinions about both of these ships. I know I've talked about this a bit before but this is something I really feel like talking about a bit more in-depth. So here we go! This will be based on
both the musical and the novel. For this purpose we shall ignore the face that Love Never Dies exists.

So firstly I'll say that in a way I ship both of these but mainly I ship Raoulstine for several reasons.

-They are adorable. They were children together for crying out loud! And then they broke apart but came back together! It doesn't get more adorable than that!

- Raoul is really sweet. Especially in the novel. He's a bit creepy because he kind of stalks her (not to the same level as the Phantom but still) but he's trying to protect her and it's cute when he gets all awkward about it.

-He risks his own life to save hers. There's nothing sweeter than that! He would literally do anything to make sure that she was safe! Love requires sacrifice and that's the biggest sacrifice of all!

-He makes her happy and let's her feel safe. Christine honestly shouldn't be with someone who she's a bit afraid of. That doesn't make sense. Raoul makes Christine feel safe and she's so happy with him. Like at the end of 'All I Ask of You' their kids is so perfectly blissful and sweet. And in the novel when they skip through the opera house hand in hand that's so cute and their relationship is the definition of young love!

-He'd be miserable without her too. Erik isn't the only one who would have a major problem losing Christine. Raoul would probably go insane too. In the book specifically Raoul obsesses over the fact that Christine might love someone else. He would be lost without her too and that's really cute.

Now my thoughts about Erikstine:

-Most people want Erik and Christine to be together because they feel bad for Erik and want him to finally be happy and I feel that way too but if you look at it from Christine's perspective it's not fair. If she didn't love Erik (which I don't think she did) then it wouldn't be fair to her. And it's a hard call to make because Erik is so deeply in need of someone to love him but it's not even fair to him for Christine to pretend. I think he'd be okay with it but it would be pretty heartbreaking in the end for both of them.

-We all know that if Christine and Erik ended up together the story wouldn't be as good. It wouldn't be loved nearly as much. It's what makes it what it is! The tragedy of Erik's story is what makes Phantom so compelling to watch it read over and over. If Christine chose Erik it would be predictable and people wouldn't love it as much. At least I wouldn't I guess I can't speak for the whole world.

-So as much as people naturally want Erik and Christine to be together I don't think it would work the way anyone would want it too. I don't think he would ever hurt her though. I see a lot of other Raoulstine shippers say that he would and though it's completely valid I personally believe that love would redeem him and he wouldn't hurt her. And of course Erikstine is quite fun to fantasize about and write phanfictions and make phan art I don't think it would work and I think Christine and Raoul are a much better fit and I love them together!
