Musical Song Challenge
So I figured this would be a fun thing to do! I found it while reading a book by wendlabergmannnn {sorry for the shoutout if you didn't want it and also sorry if you don't want me using this! Just let me know and I'll take it down! :) }
I'll try not to be too repetitive and pick songs from lots of different musicals!
~~~~~~~
1) A song from the first musical you ever saw/heard
The Overture from The Phantom of the Opera. This was the first ever song I've ever heard from a musical and Phantom was the first musical I ever saw and from its first moments it's just spectacular!
2) A song from you're latest musical obsession
Dust and Ashes from Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812. This song and this musical have been my obsession all summer!
3) A song to demonstrate how underrated you think a musical is
Raise a Little Hell from Bonnie and Clyde. Just the vocals alone on this song prove how underrated this musical is! Not to mention everything else!
4) A song to demonstrate how overrated you think a musical is
Naughty from Matilda.
5) A song that makes you happy
Times are Hard for Dreamers Amelie. I always smile while listening to this song! And it can always put me in a good mood!
6) A song that makes you sad/teary
Tell me on Sunday from Tell me on Sunday. I always tear up during this song! Between the lyrics and how Bernadette Peters sings it I never fail to be emotional
7) A song sung from your favorite female singer in a musical
You Must Love Me from Evita. Evita is one of my favorite female singing roles of all time! I love everything she sings and the broad spectrum that she has!
8) A song sung from your favorite male singer in a musical.
Valjean's Soliloquy from Les Miserables. Valjean is one of my favorite male roles and this song conveys all of the reasons why!
9) A song from a musical you know all the lines to (or almost all the lines)
Think of Me from The Phantom of the Opera. I could perform this entire musical from start to finish at any time or any place of merely asked to do so!
10) A song from your least favorite musical
You Can Fly from Peter Pan. I'm really just not a fan of this show or the story. I don't know if it's my least favorite but I really don't like it
11) A song from the musical that's had the most impact on you
The Point of no Return from The Phantom of the Opera. I would not be who I am if this musical wasn't in my life so I owe it a lot.
12) A song you could listen to all day
One Day More from Les Miserables. I think currently this is because I am performing this song with my school's band so I listen to it all day anyway!
13) A song from a musical you loved after hearing the first note
Maria from West Side Story. I loved West Side Story from the very very first moments! It's so magical
14) A song from a musical you haven't heard or seen in awhile.
I've Decided to Marry You from and Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder! I haven't listened to this in quite some time but I am now persuaded to do so!
15) A song from your favorite musical composer.
This Side of the Sky from Stephen Ward. A slightly unknown work of the Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber but a magnificent one nonetheless. He will forever be my favorite composer!
16) A song from your least favorite musical by your favorite composer.
Where Did the Rock Go from School of Rock. Asking me to choose a least favorite Andrew Lloyd Webber musical is like asking me to pick a favorite child. I love all of them!!! However, School of Rock would I guess be my least favorite? I really enjoy it though!
17) A song from a musical with the best music
A New Argentina from Evita. Evita has one of my favorite soundtracks of all time! There's not a single song I don't care for! Phantom as well but I tried to pick a different one!
18) A song from a musical with the best lyrics.
Lyrically Music of the Night from Phantom is my favorite of all time so I have to do with that again!
19) A song from a musical that disappointed you
Waving Through and Window from Dear Evan Hansen. I really wanted to enjoy this musical more then I did. However I enjoy this song!
20) A song from your guilty pleasure musical
Non-Stop from Hamilton. It's not necessarily a guilty pleasure but it's different from what I normally listen to
21) A song from a musical that inspires you
Defying Gravity from Wicked. The lyrics of this song are pretty inspiring.
22) A song from a musical you wish was never turned into a movie
Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar. I didn't enjoy the Jesus Christ Superstar movie all that much because I didn't like the man who played Jesus very much so it would have been better if it didn't happen
23) A song from a musical everyone should see performed live
Cell Block Tango from Chicago. I feel like everyone should see Chicago at some point. It's classic!
24) A song that makes you laugh
Joseph's Coat from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. I don't even know why this song always makes me laugh but it doesn't nevertheless. Really the whole musical makes me laugh in a good way!
25) A song from a musical which is your favorite
Macavity from Cats. This is my favorite song from Cats and Cats is one of my favorite musicals ever!
26) A song sung by a character you can most relate to
Santa Fe from Newsies. I relate to this song and a lot of other traits that Jack Kelly has a lot. Specifically this song though because I'd also like to run away somewhere I love and start a new life! I relate to the character of Pierre a lot as well but I didn't want to choose the same song twice!
27) A song from a musical you'd like to see with all of your favorite performers
You Oughta Be Here with Me from Big River. I'd love to see Ramin Karimloo in this musical specifically!
28) A song sung by a character that is so evil or you love to hate
The Master's Song from Dracula. Renfield is so disturbing and evil that he's a lot of fun and kind of lovable.
29) A song from a musical that you'd love to be involved in (directing or singing or ect)
Goodbye Until Tomorrow/I could never rescue you from The Last Five Years. I'd love to direct a stage version of this show! I'm actually very interested in directed but I know that's semi impossible so it's super fun to imagine! This show is very complex and has so many different layers it would be very fun!
30) A song from your favorite musical
All the songs from Phantom! Phantom is still obviously my favorite musical!
~~~~~~~
Well that's it! I just thought this would be fun! Feel free to comment your thoughts too!
As usual these are just my opinions and aren't meant to be offensive in anyway! If they are I apologize very much!
