Dream Musical Castings

So I got this idea from sugarbutterbetsy because she did a similar chapter in her book! You guys should check it out! (Sorry for the shoutout if you didn't want it and if you don't want me to use this idea please let me know!!!)

So basically I'm just going to cast some of my favorite actors in shows and roles that they have not been in but definitely should be in my opinion!

~~~~~~~
Aaron Tviet - West Side Story
Aaron Tviet would make the most perfect Tony in West Side Story! I watched him perform Maria and The Balcony Scene on the televised concert of Bernstein on Broadway and it was gorgeous! Maria is one of my favorites musical theatre songs and he performed it so well! It was probably the best Maria I've ever heard so I think it would be great if he played the role of Tony!!! I'm hoping for a Broadway revival of West Side Story soon so fingers crossed that he'll appear in that!!!
Dan Domenech - Jesus Christ Superstar
So for those who don't know who Dan Domenech is, he is JD in the full bootleg of Heathers with Barrett Wilbert Weed on YouTube and I saw him in a production of Evita. He was also in Rock of Ages on Broadway at some point. I think he would make an awesome Jesus Christ in Jesus Christ Superstar because he has an insanely high register and rock background which is well suited for the role! He's also a very talented actor and I think would be able to play the part well! Also since he was in Evita, he already has a background of Andrew Lloyd Webber's music which I think is helpful in going from Lloyd Webber show to Lloyd Webber show since he writes with general themes in all of his musicals. In Evita specifically, he has to hit some decently high notes in The Money Kept Rolling and he did so flawlessly so I think he'd make a pretty decent Jesus!
Andrew Rannells - The Last Five Years
Okay hear me out on this one! Even though Andrew Rannells has a much higher voice than most Jaimes, I think it would be really interesting to see how he would handle the role! I don't think the range is completely far fetched from his, as I have heard him sing in a lower register before and honestly I'm sure he could take it up an octave! Also he's brilliant at acting emotionally as we've seen in Falsettos and I feel that his performance of Nobody Needs to Know would be gorgeous! However, I think it would be difficult to find a Cathy who's voice fit well with his but I'm sure there is someone! I'd really like to see this just to see if it would be good or not!
Hadley Fraser - The Last Five Years
Okay I'm sorry for doubling roles but Hadley would be perfect as Jaime! He has the voice for it and the acting chops as well! I'd pay so much money to see him in this role to be honest! I think it would be a really astounding performance!
Gardar Thor Cortes - Dracula
For those who don't remember, Gardar was supposed to play The Phantom in the French production of Phantom and is currently on tour as The Phantom in Love Never Dies! He's also an crossover/contemporary opera singer and has a gorgeous voice! Other people who have placed Dracula that I've seen were James Barbour and Thomas Borchert - both former Phantoms and compared with Gardar, they all have pretty similar type voices! I find that typically in musical theater if you've played on role you are more capable or more likely to play another such as if you've played Christine you could probably play Cosette and vise versa. So I think Gardar could pull off an amazing Dracula!!
Sierra Boggess - Guys and Dolls
So I I remember correctly from an old Seth Redetsky video, I think Sierra performed this musical in high school but I want to see her in a professional production. I think she'd be a really great Sarah Brown! I've heard her sing If I Were a Bell, which is Sarah's biggest song and it was beautiful! I'd love to hear her sing I've Never Been in Love Before as well!!! I think it would be a great and she'd play the role really really well! And I typically think Sierra brings something different to her roles that I don't see in other people who've played them so I wonder if she'd bring a different flare to Sarah Brown!
James Barbour - Sweeney Todd
So similarly to what I said about Gardar, a lot of Phantoms have played Sweeney Todd and if that trend continues James Barbour should definitely give it a try! I think he'd be great! He's definitely got the voice for it and it actually might be a little deeper than most, but I think that could be pretty awesome for Sweeney and maybe make it a little scarier! I think he'd add a wonderful fear element to Sweeney and make him even more psychopathic than he already is which would be pretty awesome! I'd really want to hear him sing My Friends!
Laura Osnes - Carousel
Laura would make the most perfect Julie Jordan and I would literally give anything to see her play this role! I'm obsessed with her If I Loved You and she has the perfect innocence to play Julie! She'd be such a believable farm girl and it would be so cute!!!!!
Laura Osnes - The Sound of Music
Look I'm sorry to repeat people but I also think Laura would be a really cute Liesl Von Trapp in The Sound of Music. She might be a little too old to play her now but I think she could pull it off! I think she has the dance background to perform Sixteen Going on Seventeen and the voice as well! I know it's odd to cast her as a supporting role and not a lead but I'd love to see her perform that dance sequence!
Annaleigh Ashford - Guys and Dolls
So I don't think I've talked about Annaleigh Ashford at all yet but I discovered her when watching Bernstein on Broadway on PBS and she's been in lots of shows like Wicked, Sunday in the Park with George, Assassins, Kinky Boots, You Can't Take it With You, and Legally Blonde! She has a really unique voice and is really good at accents and characters! At least based on what I saw of her on the program. Therefore, I think she would make a really fabulous Adelaide in Guys and Dolls since Adelaide is unique and bubbly and has the most fun accent! I think Annaleigh has the range for it and the comedic capabilities to do a flawless performance of Adelaide, specifically the song Adelaide's Lament! I think she'd be charming and hilarious and really embody Adelaide in all of her quirkiness!
Michael Ball - The Phantom of the Opera
I know what you are all going to say 'but he played Raoul already' yes I know! But I'd love love love to see him play the Phantom!!! I know he's much to old now to play the role but when he was younger he would have been amazing!!!! I understand that there were a lot of obstacles on his life that made it nearly impossible for him to okay the role but I really wish that he were able to because I can't think of anything more perfect!
~~~~~~~

Well that's all of the different castings that I could think of! If I think of anymore I'll definitely update to this list! I know this chapter is a little long but I really hope you guys enjoyed it!!!! Comment your thoughts as well! I'd love to hear them!
