Again a very unknown musical! It's another historical musical! (Yeah I'm a total nerd) This one is a little darker because it's about all the people who tried to or successfully assassinated presidents! It's a Sondheim musical and it's so clever lyrically and characterally (yes I'm aware that's not a word haha) I highly suggest that you guys check out the original cast recording it is awesome! If any of you are big Aaron Tviet fans then you might know it because he recently starred in the musical as John Wilkes Booth.

Favorite Song: The Ballad of Booth! This song is about John Wilkes Booth and his motives to kill Abraham Lincoln. It's a very interesting song to hear about from his perspective but it's also sang from the perspective of I guess almost all people in America. It's a bit of a duet between the Balladeer and Booth and it's so cool! Even if you didn't know who John Wilkes Booth was this teaches you a lot about him and why he did what he did. Also for reference the Balladeer is a character that is meant to represent the American Dream and he interferes and throws out his opinions on the assassins a lot!

Least Favorite Song: So I'm really not a fan of the song You Can Close the New York Stock Exchange for whatever reason. It bores me.

Favorite Character: This one is hard because they're all assassins. They all killed people. Like for real. Not in a war or anything either. Like in cold blood. But they're really fun to learn about so the one I like learning the most about is John Wilkes Booth so I'll go with him. In my opinion he's like the only one who had a legitimate reason to kill the president (I don't think he should have but I mean he had his reasons) He didn't do it because he was getting bad reviews or because he was crazy. He did it to repay what he thought was wrong. There are a thousand better was he could have done it...but nonetheless it happened so I guess all we can do is learn from it.

Least Favorite Character: Squeaky. She freaks me out. She tried to kill the president because she was in love with Charles Manson and would do anything for him. For those of you who don't know who that is he and his whole family are like mass murderers. "Squeaky" basically joined the family and wanted to do anything to please him which is a little terrifying.

Historical Accuracy: For the most part I find that this is mostly historically accurate. Actual letters and quotes are used and it's really cool! Out of all the historical musicals I've watched I think I've learned the most from this one! So if you're into that type of thing then you should really give it a listen! I did a lot of my own research after I listened to it and found some really interesting stuff about all the "characters" so again if you're a proud history nerd like me you'll probably love this!
