Chapter 19 - Something Borrowed Something Blue

Carly's POV:

My mom carefully arranged my hair and fretted over the dress. I knew this was going to happen. As her oldest daughter she was going to make my wedding the best she had ever seen. I looked down at my dress and sighed. Mom had insisted I looked horrible in white so I was wearing a blue dress. It would go nicely with the blue and white roses. Besides my favorite color was blue. So I didn't mind too much. I would have worn a gunny sack to my wedding if that is what I had to do to marry Erik.

"My darling, you look perfect. The perfect bride. I knew I would see this day but I didn't think it would come so fast." It had come fast for her. Erik had agreed to wait until I was out of collage for the wedding but it still came too fast for Mother. I couldn't come fast enough for me. I double-checked the lace to make sure it was in place. I turned to look at Mom and saw tears in her eyes. She hugged me and I soothed her gently.

"You haven't lost me forever. I will be living in the same town. We will still see each other. Don't worry." She nodded and wiped her tears away.

"I know. Its just a very emotional time for me. Very emotional. Come on, your groom is waiting." I blushed and followed Mom to the doors of the sanctuary. I gripped my boquet of blue and white roses so tight my knuckles became as white as the roses. Sapphire was my bride's maid and I saw her raise her eyebrows. I glared at her and whispered,

"You will be nervous too." She laughed and whispered back,

"Sometimes I am slightly jealous of you. Your husband is so handsome. Jonathan is handsome but your husband..." She trailed off and I laughed. My husband was built well that was for certain. I believed that God had made he like he had because otherwise he would have had the women all over him. By giving him that one blemish it had kept him humble. And it made me able to love him more if that was possible. God did everything for a reason. I smiled and winked at Sapphire. Suddenly the doors opened and I walked down the aisle. Since my father was officiating the wedding I had to walk alone. But that was okay. I didn't mind. Because I walked alone I could hurry a little. Sapphire went down before me and grinned at Erik's Best man, Jonathan. I resisted laughing. Erik had gotten over hating Jonathan and they were kinda close. Since Erik had no one else for his best man, he had chosen Jonathan. I looked at Sapphire and raised my eyebrows than nodded toward Jonathan. She blushed like a tomato. I loved to do that. At last I reached the alter and took Erik's hands in my own. I glanced at the whole church who were sitting in the auditorium and I knew there were more than a few wet eyes. I looked at my mother who had finally broken down. She had tears of pride and joy running down her cheeks. I turned back to Erik and fixed my eyes in his golden ones. It was hard to believe that four years ago I had been in the choir loft and had seen this handsome man in the background. And now I was standing across from him and about to say my vows. I took a deep breath and listened as Erik said his vows. They were filled with so much love and I nearly started to cry at the romantic nature of them. I spoken mine with what voice I had left and I could have sworn that a tear slipped down his masked cheek. I smiled and then my father said,

"Do you, Erik Destler, take my daughter, Carly Richmond, to be your wedded wife, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, til death do you part?" Erik nodded and said,

"I do."

"Do you, Carly Richmond, take Erik Destler to be your wedded husband, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, til death do you part?" I nodded and said,

"I do."

"Are you sure? I mean I know what a temper he has..." I shot my father a glare and he laughed. "I had to to do that. I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss-" Before Father even said "bride" Erik kissed me like there was no tomorrow. What caused a big eruption of clapping was when he dipped me to the ground. He finally lifted me up and, taking my hand, led me back down the aisle.

"Mrs. Erik Destler. I like the sound of that." He whispered in my ear.

"So do I." I replied. "I belong to you now." He smiled.

"And I to you. Forever." I smiled up at him and placed a light peck on his cheek.

"Yes, forever."
