From the author: So, Alfonso isn't a character I went too deep into, so he might seem a bit dull at first, but he could not have been entirely dull for a woman like Lucrezia to fall in love with him.

 Alfonso was a good and fierce politician and businessman. That was what led his family to have many enemies and what caused the murder of his wife, Lucrezia. Alfonso was never able to determine who had done and have them brought to justice, and Alfonso himself was suspected of poisoning his wife.

 Nineteen years after his wife's death, Alfonso died from illness as the age of 51.
