⚡️Ep.16: Carpet Diem⚡️

~~~~~~~~~Dipper's POV~~~~~~~~~
It had been a few days since the pool. (y/n) kept us informed about the situation with her friend Leo, and he seemed to be recovering well.
At the time, Mabel And I were playing Attic Stuff Mini Golf, a game we had invented. It was basically just mini golf with whatever we could find. It was really fun, and sometimes (y/n) would join too!
"HUAAA, TOTAL DOMINATION!!!" Mabel yelled as her arms waved around in victory. "I am the master of attic stuff mini golf!!! From the mighty Swiss Alps, to the Bad Lands of Dipper's old laundry where man fears to thread!!!"
I rolled my eyes with a smile, walking over. "Alright, let a pro on the field! Or floor or whatever."
I hit the ball, which went through many obstacles before crashing out the window and hitting someone, hearing their yell and quickly realizing it was Grunkle Stan.
"Ah, my head!!! It hit my right in the head!!!"
"Yes, Stan shot!!!" I cheered, looking at Mabel. "Is that legal?"
She turned to Waddles, who was eating the point papers before looking back at me. "The judge says it's out of bounce."
"You're out of bounds!" I softly poked my club against her stomach, making her laugh as she did the same to me, battling with the clubs.
That's when Mabel's kitty alarm rang throughout the room, making us both look over, a smile growing on his face. "Let's continue this later, I gotta go hang out with Candy and Grenda tonight!"
"Aw, again? You can't leave in mid-game!"
"Don't be silly, I'm not leaving!" She spread her arms with a bright smile. "My friends are coming to me!!"
My eyes widened as realization dawned upon me, looking around. "What?! Oh no, no no no...!!! Sleeping bags?!? Rom-Coms?!? Calling All Boys Preteen addition?!? You're not having a-!!!"
Finishing my sentence, Candy and Grenda bursted into the room, both with big smiles. "Sleepover!!!"
"AHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
[There should be a GIF or video here. Update the app now to see it.]
I sat on my bed, pillows covering my ears as I stared at the ceiling, wanting to block out everything as Mabel and her friends sat in the middle of the room.
My sister giggled. "Okay, so how much do you like boys?"
"Sooo much!!!"
"Boys make me think about kissing!!"
"Candy, oh my gosh!!" She threw a pillow at Candy, who didn't react much at it.
"We are so crazy tonight!!!" Mabel shrieked, her friends doing the same as Grenda harshly punched the ground, making me growl in anger.
She soon stopped, looking at them. "Who wants to smear makeup on my face?!?"
Mabel sighed. "You're already so beautiful, Grenda, what would be the point?"
"Beautiful!!! Beautiful!!! Beautiful!!!" Once more, she started punching the floor, the whole room shaking.
I broke, sitting up as I glared daggers at them. "Mabel, do you think you can do this somewhere else?!? You're laughing at frequencies only dogs should hear!!!"
She only shrugged, her smile not leaving her face. "C'mon, it's not that bad."
"You know what they need~?"
Mabel gasped at Grenda's question, soon smirking. "A makeover~?"
Candy pulled out some makeup supplies, and I felt a sudden rush of fear. I grabbed my pillow and blanket, racing out the door and downstairs, I needed to get out!
I found Soos, walking over. "Hey, Soos, can I sleep in your break room tonight?"
"Of course, dude." He opened the door to reveal a very cramped room with hazardous pipes and steam, crawling inside. "You just gotta make your body go like a video game puzzle block. Beebity boop boop beep beepity boop bop boop boop. The trick is to hold perfectly still." He rested his hand on pipe, but is forced to pull away as his arm gets scorched. "Ow, wait wait."
He continued to do this for a bit, and I eventually gave up, walking out of the shack.
I set my up my little place, lying down as I stared up at the sky, letting out a heavy sigh. "Nothing like sleeping under the stars."
There was a sudden pain on my leg, and I let out a scream as I saw a wolf chewing down on it. The louder yelling from my bedroom blasted louder than my scream.
I lied back down, crossing my arms. "This is still better."
The wolf suddenly ran off when a piece of steak was thrown a bit far from me, making me sit up in surprise. It wasn't long until I saw (y/n) walking over, her bag seeming a little bigger than usual.
"Got thrown out?"
"No, I let myself out. Why are you out here, it's past midnight."
She gestured to her bag. "I needed some ingredients, they only grow at this hour."
"Huh."
She sat beside me. "So, Mabel has another sleep over?"
Another heavy sigh escaped my lips as I lied back down. "Yep, and as usual, she didn't even bother telling me beforehand. I should be used to it by now."
"I'm sorry, dude. But hey, at least I'm here to keep you company. Even if just for a little while."
She lied down beside me, and I let out a small chuckle. I could always count on (y/n) to make me feel better no matter what.
We stared up at the stars, a silence hovering around us, the breeze in the trees only heard.
"So.." I turned to (y/n) as I heard her voice, seeing her gaze still focused on the sky. "How are things with Wendy..?"
"What do you mean..?" I was a bit confused at her question, and why she asked.
"Any progress on your little winning Wendy adventure..?"
There was an empty expression on her face, almost as if she hated the mention of it, which only confused me even more. I looked back up, thinking before speaking.
"Actually.. I've stopped trying anything with Wendy.."
"Really..?"
"Yeah, I just.. well.. ... It's hard to explain.."
This time she looked at me, curiosity obvious in them. "I have all night.."
I stayed quiet, trying to form the thoughts in my head, deciphering how to put things out. "I.. I think I don't like Wendy.."
Her eyes widened a bit at my confession, it seemed to take her off guard. "But all you ever talk about is Wendy..!"
"Don't get me wrong, she's a cool girl, and I love spending time with her.. But it's always been more of a friendly feeling.. One I easily mistook for something else.."
I turned to look at her, and she looked back at me. There was a spark in her eyes as the moon lit over the forest, making them a glimmering (e/c).
"Something made me realize I was wrong about my feelings.."
Not something..
Someone..
"Well it's good that you realized it sooner rather than later.." She gave a small shrug, along with a small smile.
After that, we chatted for a while, and eventually she had to go back home, leaving me alone to my thoughts.
The feelings had always been there, the chemistry..
I was just too much of a coward to admit it..
Admit how much.. I liked her..
I liked (y/n)..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The sun burned my face, forcing me awake. I had barely slept at all, waking up at random points in time.

I sat up with a yawn, stretching my arms and taking off the leaves from my hair. Taking my stuff, I want back to my room.

Had a tornado passed through?! This place was a huge mess!!

As Candy and Grenda left, Mabel walked over to greet me with her usual smile. "Hey brother! You want any of this leftover pizza? It's got glitter on it~!"

"Mabel, last night an owl tried to eat my tongue." I replied with a glare.

However, she only laughed. "That's great!"

"No, it's not great!!!" I looked around the room. "This is impossible to live with!!!"

"What?!? I'm delightful to live with!!! Get ready to be poked by the fun stick!!" She picked up a random branch from the ground, poking me with it. "Boop!"

I was having none of it.

Smacking the branch out of her hands, I glared at her. "Mabel, I've had it with the fun stick, you've totally wrecked our room!!! And-!!" I let out a gasp, picking up a broken piece. "Oh no!!! Our mini golf course!!!"

"Hehe, yeah, Grenda sure loves breaking things!"

"Mabel, we need to lay down some ground rules if we're gonna be living in this room together! First of all: No sleepovers!"

"What?!?" She returned the glare I had on my face. "Well, if I can't have sleepovers then you can't keep us up every night with your summer reading!!!"

"How does reading keep you up?!?"

"You always start clicking your pen and it's annoying!!!"

"Well at least my bracers don't whistle when I breath!!!"

"At least I wash my clothes once in a while!!!"

"Washing clothes is a waste of time!!! I'm a busy guy!!!"

"Meow meow meow meow meow!!!"

"Alright, if you meow one more time-!!!"

"Meow meow meow!!!"

An angry growl left me, my glare sharpening as my blood boiled in anger. "Okay that's it, that's the final straw!!! Maybe we shouldn't share a room anymore!!!"

Her eyes widened a bit, though quickly glared back. "Well- ... well maybe we shouldn't!!!"

"Fine by me!!!"

"Double fine by me!!!"

"Then we need to talk to Grunkle Stan about moving rooms!!!"

"Yeah, he's a reasonable guy!!!"

We ran downstairs, seeing him yelling his usual things at the tv. He turned to us once we entered the room. "Grunkle Stan, we want different rooms!!"

"Ha! And I want a pair of magic money pants. It's not gonna happen."

"Magic money pants?" Mabel asked as she tilted her head.

"C'mon, Grunkle Stan! Can't we work something out?"

"Look kid, there's my room and the attic. That's it. What do you think, there's some kinda 'secret hidden room' in the Shack?"

As if on cue, a very loud crash is heard, Soos's voice heard from another room. "Dudes!! I found some kind of secret hidden room in the Shack!!"

We all walked over, seeing Soos standing beside a brand new door. "Okay, so I was cleaning behind the bookcase when BOOM, mystery door!! This whole shack is full of weird secrets!!"

He opened the door, letting us walk inside. It was a bedroom, and a cozy one for that matter, it had a nice feeling to it.

"Woah...!!!"

"Classy...!!!"

I looked over at the tag on the carpet, kneeling down to read it. "Experiment 78...? Grunkle Stan, what is this place?"

"I dunno, just another room I gotta clean up."

Mabel lied down on the carpet, making some angels. "This carpet is amazing!!!"

"Yeah, if you're into things that are terrible." Stan rolled his eyes.

I looked around once more, seeing a key as a smile grew on my face, taking it. "Problem solved, I'll move in here!"

"What?! Why do you automatically get the room?! We both saw it at the same time!!" Mabel glared at me.

"Wait a second." That's when Stan snatched the key, an amused grin on his face. "So you both want this room, huh? I guess I'll give it to which ever one of you I like more!"

He untied his shoe. "Uh oh, looks like my shoe's untied!"

Mabel and I exchanged a quick glance before tackling each other to try and tie his shoe back as he chanted 'Fight!'.

Soos stopped us from following our uncle as he left, standing in front of us. "Woah, I don't know, dudes, this room gives me major creep-o vibes.. Maybe you two should appreciate what you got."

We shared a glance before running after Stan.

Nothing's stopping me from winning that key!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We had spend the rest of the day and the next morning trying to gain 'Suck-Up' points. Apparently the one who got the most won the key, and that's all I had to know.
I had this competition set in a bag by now, so I went to the bedroom to get my stuff ready.
When I got there, I felt a cold chill go up my spine, but I simply shrugged it off, sitting down on the couch. I took off my shoes, rubbing my foot against the carpet.
I was gonna win this, for sure!
"Hey brother, don't get too comfortable." I turned to see Mabel standing by the doorway with her arms crossed, a cocky grin on her face. "I just made Stan an omelette shaped like his own face!"
She walked over as I stood up. "Face it, I'm like a suck-up ninja, this room's as good as mine. You might as well give up now. What do you say?"
As I looked down at the hand she offered, I felt the glare grow on my face. "I say I'm gonna win this room somehow, and when I do, I'll finally have my own space, and we'll never have to share anything ever again!"
I smacked Mabel's hand to seal the deal. However, the action caused sparks to fly around and knocking both of us back, my vision going dark for a while.
Gripping my head, I sat back up, feeling a bump from on the back. "Ugh, what happened...?"
"Dipper...?" I turned to the side, my eyes widening to see- ... myself?!? "Why are you wearing my clothes...? And my... face!!!"
We both let out a scream, that was Mabel's voice!!
I looked down at myself, seeing that I was wearing her clothes, and that I had her long hair!!
She patted her- or, my face. "Am I in your body?!?"
"Am I in your body?!?"
The two of us ran and screamed around the house in a wild panic, not knowing or understanding what the heck was happening!
Eventually, we calmed down, going back into the room. I let out a frustrated sigh. "Great, just what we need, more of Gravity Falls weirdness."
"This is stupid! Sharing a room was bad enough, now we're sharing bodies?!?"
I bit a few times, cringing at the feeling. "Ugh, bracers are horrible! It's like my mouth hates me!  And what are these?!" I said as I flicked a small portion of hair on my head.
"Why are you so sweaty, and awkward....?" She looked around, then at me. "Should we call (y/n)? She might have an idea about this!"
"Actually, I might have one myself." I replied as I walked over, kneeling in front of the carpet and reading the tag. "'Experiment 78: Electron Carpet.' Atoms can swap electrons! This carpet must build up a static charge so powerful it can swap minds!! It was the static electricity!!"
I stood back up, facing her. "If the carpet switched us, it can probably switch is back!"
She wiped her sweat in relief. "Phew! Glad I'm switching back! If I was you I would totally loose the contest!"
"And if I was you, which I am, I could sabotage myself!! Then Mabel would loose all her points and the room would go to Dipper!!"
"What?!?"
"OH STAAAAAAN, I'VE ALWAYS HATED YOUUUUUU!!!" I laughed at my brilliant plan. "Let's see who he gives the room to now!!!" I ran out of the room.
"NO, WAIT-!!!" I heard a thud before she spoke again. "TIE YOUR SHOES!!!"
Now I was sure to get the room!!
"Grunkle Stan!!!" I called as I ran into the kitchen, seeing him sitting at the table and eating the omelette Mabel had made.
"What's the word, Mabel?"
Oh, right.
"That's right! It's me, Mabel! If you like that omelette, you'll love this!" I took out what I had made on my way here, placing it on the table. "A sandwich made out of rocks!"
Stan took the sandwich, inspecting it for a while. "... Candy rocks?"
I shook my head. "Regular rocks."
A glare grew on his face. "Keep that up and I'll be giving your brother that key!"
"Haha!!! I-I mean, darn!!!"
That's when Mabel, in my body, ran inside yelling. "Hey, Grunkle Stan!!! Your face looks like a butt!!!"
"What?!?"
"Breaking stuff is so much fun, I am Dipper and I stink!!!" She sang as she flailed her arms around like some maniac, breathing anything they hit.
But I had some more tricks.
I climbed onto the table, taking the cereal box and spilling it all on me. "Mabel's gone bananas!!!"
"Well, this is getting weird." Stan quickly left the room.
"Wait!!! Are you gonna duck Mabel pointing?!?"
"Dipper should loose all his points!!!" Mabel tried to run to Stan, but I immediately jumped on top so she N's fall.
"Grunkle Stan!!!"
Sure this plan seemed reckless, but it was gonna work!
Right?
~~~~~~~~~Your POV~~~~~~~~~

Mom and I had been making sure Leo had a healthy recovery. Since neither of us really knew much about wing anatomy and medicine, we simply did the best we could with Leo's medical history.

And of course Aiden comforted him like the lovely beaver he is.

I was on my way to the shack, feeling the hot summer sun. Jeez, it didn't get any less brighter.

Once inside, something already was a bit.. off..

Maybe it was just a change in atmosphere, or just more of Gravity Falls's weird things.

That's when Mabel came running to me with a panicked expression. "(y/n), help me!!"

"Mabel? What's wrong?"

"You need to hide me!!"

There's was seriously something wrong. As a witch, I get the power to see people's aura's, which gives me a brief description of the person.

Mabel's aura had changed completely changed! It wasn't bubbly or cheerful, it was a little duller and more deep thoughts around them. Almost as if it was..

"Wait, Dipper?!"

Her eyes widened at the mention of the name, backing away a bit. "How'd you know?!"

I gave him a 'You should know by now.' expression, and he immediately got what I meant. "Oh, right, witch."

"Yeah. So, um, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!?"

"Long story short: Mabel and I fought and decided to get different rooms, so we found this hidden room and we've been trying to win the key to it but turns out the carpet can actually make people switch minds, so now I'm in Mabel's body making Stan hate her more."

I stared in disbelief, what the heck?!?

"Wh- Why would you do that?!?"

"I thought it'd be a good idea at the time!!! Now help me, her friends are forcing me to a sleepover!!!"

"You need to change back, that's the only way!!"

"What?!? No, I still have to much to do!!!"

I growled under my breath, then saw Candy and Grenda walking by the door, hiding the cocky grin that grew on my face. "Hey girls!"

Mabel- er, Dipper's face grew pale as both girls turned to us. I grabbed his wrist, raising it up. "I found your third buddy!"

"Mabel, there you are!!" They both said in synch, Grenda picking him up with ease.

"NO NO, WAIT!!!" They started running to the door, Dipper glaring daggers at me.

I let out a heavy sigh, sitting behind the gift shop counter as I passed a hand through my hair. I hated it so much when they fought. Not because they're annoying, even though they are.

There's a more.. ... personal reason..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A long while had passed, and I was getting super bored. I decided to see this 'new mystery room' Dipper told me of, walking around the shack and seeing the unfamiliar door.
I walked inside, a cold chill filling the air, forcing me to shiver. That was already a scary sign..
The room itself was pretty cozy, and it had pretty nice decor, minus the horrendous body switching carpet.
I was about to leave when Dipper, or should I say Mabel in Dipper's body, ran inside, locking the door.
"Um?"
She let out a scream, facing me before coughing a bit, leaning against the wall as she did her best boy impression. "Oh- uh- Hey, (y/n), what's shakin'?"
"I know it's you, Mabel."
"Oh. ... Hello!!"
I sighed in frustration. "Are you guys still doing this room competition thing?!"
"I want this room, (y/n), and I'm not gonna stop until I get it!!"
It was just then that someone knocked on the door.
"It's Candy!"
"And Grenda!"
"Friends!!" Mabel over and opened the door. "Hey guys! What's up?"
Her eyes widened as Dipper stood behind her friends with a smirk on his face. "Dipper!! W-wait, don't let him in here!!"
"Makeovers!!!" Both of them ran in and tackled Mabel as she cried for them to stop, both girls covering her face in some horribly placed makeup.
Once her face was covered in makeup, Dipper walked over to her. "Good job, ladies. Now let me just add one.. final.. touch.." He had shuffled his feet in the carpet and poked Mabel's nose, and a shock of electricity was seen before they were both pushed back.
Dipper, now in his own body, softly pat his face. "Ah, my body! I'm a genius!" He laughed as he pulled out the room key, then wiped off the makeup. "Alright, Mabel, the room is mine!!"
Grenda was the first to step in. "Wait, hold on here! What just happened?"
Mabel let out a sigh. "I barely understand it. All I know is that if you shuffle your feet on this carpet, you can switch bodies or whatever."
We all turned at some sounds, seeing Candy shuffling her feet in the carpet before looking at Dipper. "Zip, zap."
"NO-"
It was too late. Candy had already poked his nose, switching bodies.
Dipper groaned, snatching back the key. "Aw, c'mon!"
"I am a boy now!" She lowered her voice. "Wassup, bro, let's grow some mustaches!"
"Dipper, give me that key back!" Mabel ran up to Dipper, and I could already sense another fight.
This was getting ridiculous!
Grenda and I ran over to pull them apart, and unfortunately, one of us had gotten the shock..
Dipper now had Grenda's body, Grenda had my body, I had Mabel's body, Mabel had Candy's, and Candy was still in Dipper's.
"Oh no!!" Dipper groaned again, then flexed his arm. "Then again, I like having muscles for once."
"Wow, now I have tiny little doll hands!" Grenda yelled as she stared at her/my hands.
I gripped my stomach, holding in a groan. "M, what the heck do you eat?!"
She only shrugged before looking at the others. "Everybody look. Swap back in three.." We All shuffled our feet as we pointed at the person with our bodies. "Two.."
"Oh dudes!!"
Waddles, with Soos's voice?, came running into the room, followed by Old Man McGucket. "Come back!! I wanna deep fry your ears!!"
There was a lot of switching after that.. I lost track of where my body was for a second. Right now I was in Grenda's body, and Dipper was right, it does feel nice to have some muscle.
"WOOEE!!" McGucket laughed, now as Candy. "I've regained my innocence!!"
Dipper, who was in Waddles's body, let out a sigh. "Well, I guess I'm a pig now, so, that's a thing." He grabbed a nearby apple, nibbling on it.
We all tensed up as the police walked into the room, the sheriff speaking. "We've got some reports of excessive gigglin'."
You can guess all that happened for a while.
Switching.
Switching.
More switching.
And arguing.
I hope this day ends soon..
~~~~~~~~~Dipper's POV~~~~~~~~~

After a while, I pat my cheeks, looking at Mabel, le someone in her body? "Mabel, are you you?"

She smiled at me. "Yeah, I'm me!"

"Well I've got the key!!" With that, I ran out of the room as fast as I could, Mabel chasing behind as she yelled for me to stop.

I reached the attic, but it was too late to lock it since Mabel was already in. We began to fight again, making sure I still had the key in my hand.

"Mabel, the room is mine!!! Give it to me!!!"

"Never!!!"

"Just give up already!!!"

"I will never give in!!!"

"Why do you have to be so annoying?!?"

"Why do you have to be so awkward?!?"

"What does that have to do with anything?!?"

"I don't know, but it's true!!!" At that, she smacked the key out of my hand, which slid across the floor and softly bumping into something.

(y/n)'s foot.

She leaned out, picking up the key, her expression unrecognizable.

Mabel pushed me off, standing up. "Thanks, (y/n)! I knew I could count on you to help!"

"Are you serious? She's helping me!!" I yelled back.

"She's my best friend!!"

"She's my best friend!!!"

"FUCKING SHUT UP ALREADY!!!"

We both were startled when (y/n) yelled at the top of her lungs, an angry glare on her as she tightened her grip on the key, a (f/c) glow surrounding her.

"I'VE HAD IT WITH THE TWO OF YOU!!! I KNOW ALL SIBLINGS FIGHT, BUT THIS HAS GOTTEN WAY OUT OF HAND AND I'M TIRED OF IT!!!"

There was something else besides anger, I could see it in her eyes..

At the tears forming in them..

Sadness..? Maybe even guilt..?

But why..?

"YOU GUYS HAVE NO IDEA HOW LUCKY YOU ARE TO HAVE A SIBLING, A TWIN, SOMEONE WHO HAS YOUR BACK NO MATTER WHAT SHIT YOU GO THROUGH, YET YOU BOTH TAKE EACH OTHER FOR GRANTED AND- AND-!!!" With one last groan, she threw the key on the ground, storming out of the room.

Mabel and I were left in the aftermath of her words, the room now surrounded in a deep silence. We then looked at each other, both with genuine concern.

"Why did we start this...?"

Mabel shrugged at my question. "I don't know, I never even wanted to move out..."

"Me either..."

"Then what was all this...?"

I thought for a while, thinking of what to say. "... Everything was fine until you started bringing your friends around every night... I mean, hanging out with you this summer has been fun, but now you're always with Candy and Grenda and (y/n) isn't always here to join our games so I'm just... left behind..."

"Aw, Dipper..."

"It's okay, I've just been having a hard time, you wouldn't understand what I'm going through..."

"You're probably feeling awkward and sweaty, huh..?"

"... Yeah, how'd you know..?"

We both chuckled a bit before she grabbed the room key, offering it to me. "Here, I won't fight you for it.."

"Thanks, Mabel.." My smile soon faded as I looked to the door. "Though, we should probably apologize to (y/n) as well.."

"We should.."

We walked out, seeing (y/n) sitting at the shack's front porch, hugging her legs and resting her chin on her knees. Mabel and I walked over, each standing on one side as she spoke. "Hey (y/n).."

She looked up at us, her eyes a little red. Mabel shuffled her feet in shame. "Dipper and I talked, and.. we're sorry we dragged you into this mess.."

"And that we started this mess in the first place.."

She stayed silent for a while, but then let out a heavy sigh. "I'm sorry for yelling at you guys, it's normal for siblings to fight.. I just.. ... I don't know, it's hard to explain.."

I sat beside her. "It's okay.. We deserved it.."

"That you did.."

The three of us chuckled a bit before sharing a group hug.

That night, I felt lonely without Mabel. So I went back upstairs and knocked on the door. She stared at me a bit confused.

"Hey, do you wanna have a sleepover...?" She smiled and opened the door more for me.

I only had a few seconds to avoid the golf ball that flew my way as Mabel yelled. "Fore!!!"

In the end? I moved back to the attic, and we gave Soos that new room to replace the boiler one.

Thanks for reading!!! 'Till next time!!!

❤️❤️❤️
