Chapter 26- Mover
(Chapter 26- Jumper)
It had been one constant argument after the next since I told Chase my plans on saving Crystal. He was still fighting me on it but my mind was made up. He even threatened locking me up even though I knew he wouldn’t.
It killed me to see Josh like he was. He was not the same without her that’s for sure and I wouldn’t stop until he had her back. I was responsible for this whole mess so I needed to be the one to fix it. I just hope Josh doesn’t hate me for getting her taken.
“Can you just stay here for the time being until I can talk to my family about this?” Chase said irritated. No doubt because I would do what he said.
“Fine but you better hurry because I’m taking Action quick. We don’t have the time to waste.” I stressed.
“Ok but don’t do anything until I get back.” He said and walked out the door.
I paced the room anxiously dying to know what was going on with Crystal. It was killing me that I had let this happen. If I would have just went back to Don like he wanted everyone would be ok right now. Why don’t I ever learn? I should have gone back and found away to be with Chase again.
Sure I didn’t love Don but maybe I could fool him, just long enough to get Crystal out. I had a feeling once I showed back up he wouldn’t be so quick to let me go this time.
As I continued to pace the floor I grew more impatient. It’s been an hour already surely they have discussed everything by now. Suddenly I felt like something more was going on. I walked to the door and pulled on it didn’t budge.
“What the hell?” I yelled. “He actually did it.”
Well I guess I was wrong. I never thought Chase would follow through on his threat. I am so going to kill him when I get out of this room. I banged and pounded on the door but no one came and I was getting more pissed by the minute.
All of a sudden I got a brilliant idea. I ran over to my bag on the bed and pulled out crystals phone. I made sure I kept it in case anymore calls came through. I guess it was smart after all.
I looked through her phone and called Josh. It rang about four times before he answered. He was exactly what I needed to get out of here.
“Ashlyn?” He whispered.
“Yes. Find a way to get away from the meeting and come to my room, and don’t tell Chase.” I said in urgency.
“I’m on my way.” He said before hanging up.
Once the phone was free again I looked for the last number that called Crystals phone and dialed it back praying that someone would answer it. Maybe I stood a chance of talking some since into Don. After it rang several times I was about to give up but then someone answered and that someone just happened to be Don.
“Is she alright?” I asked not bother making conversation.
“Yes she is sitting next to me. Would you like to talk to her?” He offered.
“Yes.”
I heard him mumble something in the background that I couldn’t quite make out and then hand over the phone.
“Hey.” She answered.
“Oh my god Crystal I am so sorry.” I said relieved to hear her voice.
“It’s not your fault Ashlyn. Don’t blame yourself.” She replied with sadness. I know she was missing Josh.
“Are you hurt or anything?” I asked.
“No not at all. We have just been talking.” She confessed.
“Well don’t worry. I’m coming to get you. Once I’m there he will let you go.” I said.
“No.” Crystal screamed. “Don’t do it. It’s all a trap-“
Suddenly Crystal was cut off and I heard more angry muffled conversation in the back. It sounded like he was not happy with her actions. I really hope he didn’t hurt her. As bad as a guy Don seemed I just didn’t believe he would though or anyone else close to me. I just think he is desperate and that’s why he is doing this.
“She’s already said too much.” Don stated with irritation.
“Don’t blame her. I know what I’m getting myself into.” I said matter of factly.
“So what is your plan of action?” He asked amused.
“I’ll be there soon.” I spat before hanging up on him.
I glanced at the clock realized that sometime had passed since I contacted Josh. What was taking so long? I walked back to the door and tried to open it again but of course it was still locked. I don’t know why I thought that might have changed. I guess I was just desperate.
Finally fed up with waiting I decided to text Josh and find out what the holdup was. I typed in his number and started the message but didn’t get far when the door finally opened. Josh stepped in quickly and shut the door behind him.
“What took so long?” I questioned.
“Sorry they were asking me so many questions and I couldn’t get away.” He said apologetically. “And I had to find the key.”
“Where was it?” I asked curiously.
“It was in Chase’s study on the desk.” He stated.
I looked at him in surprise. “Chase has a study?”
“Yeah all the member of the organization do.” Josh said like it was known.
“Oh.” I replied dumbly. “I guess I missed the memo.”
How sweet, I didn’t even know my husband had a study. I guess he felt it wasn’t important to tell me. I could help but feel a little left out though.
“So is the plan?” he asked.
I gave him a questioning look. I don’t remember telling him I had a plan. How did he guess it? Was I that obvious?
“You’re like an open book. I knew you would come up with something.” Josh answered before I could ask.
“Well that’s nice.” I said sarcastically.
“I need you to get me out of the palace. When I am gone don’t let Chase know anything. The longer it takes him to realize I left the better.” I stated.
“Ok but on one condition?” He said seriously.
He waited for me to answer and I nodded for him to go on.
“I’m coming to. I‘m not going to stay behind while you go off to Don alone and plus I want to go after Crystal myself.” He said.
“I guess I can understand that.” I admitted. I thought about his reasoning for a minute before giving in. “Ok I guess I could use some help anyway.”
Once Josh and I can to an agreement on our plan of action when we got there he managed to sneak me out the palace. We made our way over to the unattended stables where they kept the horses.
“Are you kidding?” Josh asked.
“No. How else are we going to get there without being spotted? If we get a car someone will notice us.” I stated.
“I have a better way.” He smiled.
“Why do I get the feeling you know something I don’t?” I joked.
He grabbed my hand and held it in his not yet answering me. I gave him a very confused looked not sure of his actions. I suspected he had something to tell me but not sure what exactly. I looked at him as I waited for him to answer me.
He grinned.“I’m a mover. Also known as teleportation.”
That blew me away. I can’t believe he is a mover and I wonder why the question of his gift never came in to question. I knew he had to have one but come one, this was so cool.
“What?” I said in surprise. “That’s an awesome gift!”
“Yeah but I haven’t practiced much with. I figured this was safer for you than riding a horse.” He said looking at my stomach.
I laughed. “So it’s basically like being in a car with a new driver.”
“I guess so.” He said shyly.
“Well let’s go.” I smiled. “I’m ready when you are.”
And with that we were gone to save Crystal
