(Chapter 12- Solution)

“What do you think they are going to do?” Crystal asked sitting on my bed.

“I don’t know. Apparently their great uncle has been after the families position here for centuries and will do anything to get it back including threatening people close to them.” I told her.

“Wow.”

“Yeah I know. It’s got them worried. Has Josh explained any of this to you?” I inquired.

“Not really. We have mainly been trying to get to know each other. He is a really nice guy.

“He loves you, you know. It may seem strange because you don’t know him but he does. He felt it from the beginning even if you didn’t.” I explained.

“You seem know a lot about this.” She stated.

“I do I can feel it.”

“How?” She asked interested.

“Well let’s just say that I have been through a lot. I didn’t accept Chase at first and he went to some extreme measures.” I said.

“Like what?” She questioned.

Thinking over all the things I went through I knew it would probably scare her to hear all of it. Then she would probably be afraid of Josh. I will tell her at a later time when she and Josh are actually together. I don’t want to cause any problems for them.

“I’m not going to go into the whole story with you right now but one of them was the bonding.” I answered.

“What is that?”

“It’s where you exchange blood with another person. Once the blood is in your system then you can start to feel and understand each other’s feelings.” I explained

I have to admit I was not happy about it when Chase told me what he had done but I’m getting used to it now. Sure Chase and I have some differences to work out but it’s getting better. I feel like I am starting to fall for him but I just wish I knew if it was the bonding or just me. Sometimes I wonder if the bonding never happened if I would feel this way. It bothers me to not know for sure.

“Sounds romantic.” Crystal gushed.

Yeah Crystal is a hopeless romantic. I mean she was one of these who is looking for The Notebook kind of love. I mean who isn’t but that kind of love is very rare. Honestly I don’t know of anyone who has ever been that much in love. I wonder if it even exists, it would be depressing to think that it didn’t wouldn’t it?

“You’re a hopeless romantic you know that?” I laughed at her.

“Yeah I know. Don’t you just wish that you could find someone who totally and consumes you in love?” She gushed.

“Who doesn’t?”

“I know.” She smiled.

“Crystal can I ask you a serious question and promise me the truth?” I asked her.

“Yes.”

“Do you still like Chase?” I questioned.

As much as I hated to ask that question I knew I had to know. She has been in love with Chase for a long time. I hope she doesn’t because I don’t want to hurt her. I know how it feels to watch the person you like go after another girl.

“To be honest yeah he is bring you to your knees hot but I never got too attached. I knew he was always yours. I never let myself fall to hard. I knew what I was signing up for when I slept with Chase. I knew it would always be you.” She confessed.

What on earth is she talking about? Did she know how much Chase liked me? I didn’t know that whole world knew how he felt. Man, imagine everyone knowing how you felt except the person you had feelings for. I can’t believe I always talked about other guys and flirted in front of him. I know that didn’t feel good for him.

“I didn’t know you knew.” I stated.

“Yeah everyone that knew you or Chase did.” She admitted.

“I’m sorry Crystal. I know you liked him but you know what I bet you will really like Josh once you give him a chance. You should go on a date or something.” I hinted.

She thought about it for a minute and smiled. I guess she liked the idea. I hope so because she needs to get out and find someone who loves her as much as she loves them.

“Yeah I think your right. I haven’t been on a date since Chris.” She said sadly.

Oh yes the famous Chris, the one who crushed crystals heart into a thousand tiny pieces. He was an ass. Crystal always has the habit of falling fast. She said she was in love with Chris by their first date. I mean she though he was the one. They did everything together. He was really good to her and even I thought they were going to be together a long time. Then one day she walked in on him and our ex best friend April having sex. Let’s just say she was crushed. It took a whole year to pick up the pieces. That’s when she started liking Chase. I was really surprised by that because Chase was a ladies’ man. Maybe she thought he would change or something I don’t know but either way she always goes for the guys that break her heart. That’s way I hope she goes for Josh. He will love her unconditionally and he would never hurt her. He loves her after all.

 Someone knocked on the door and Chase pocked his head in.

“Hey I hope I’m not disturbing anything but Josh wants to see Crystal.” He stated.

“Tell him I’m coming.” Crystal told Chase. He nodded and closed the door.

“Well I guess I better go. Thanks for the talk. It’s been nice getting to spend time with my friend again. I have really missed you.” She smiled.

“Same here.” I said hugging her. “Who knew three days would feel like so long.”

She hugged me back then left the room. After she was gone Chase came in. He made his way to me and pulled me up. He looked like he had something on his mind maybe even worried.

“Hey what happened?” I asked.

“Everyone thinks we need to take action against them before they get to us.” He stated.

“So what does that mean?” I questioned.

“It means that we are going to fight. We need everyone we can get. If we lose than we have lost everything. If they take over then they are going to revel themselves to the humans and enslave them all.”

Oh no this could be really bad. Everyone I know will either be at risk or fighting. I don’t want anyone I know getting hurt. I don’t want Chase to get hurt either. I know he will fight and I can’t stop him. I wonder how many fighters they have. Do they have enough?

“Is there enough people to fight?’ I asked.

“We estimated our fighters at 500.” He stated.

“How many does your uncle have?” Let’s just hope he is out numbered. That would be our only chance at victory.

“From what we have been able to tell they have 300”

“That’s good we have more than them.” I said happily.

“We?” He questioned smirking.

“Yes, we. I’m part of the organization now, right?”

“So you are accepting it now?” He smiled.

“Yes, yes I am. I’m doing it for you.” When I said that he smiled the biggest smile I have ever seen. He looked like I just gave him the world. It made me smile to know I made him smile. I like happy Chase a lot better than mad Chase. “Since we have more fighters there is nothing to worry about right?”

“Not exactly. My uncle is a descendant of the organization which means he is a lot stronger than ordinary vampires. He could wipe out a few hundred on his own easily. If we fought him right now than it would be 50/50. The fact that he is older than all of us makes us weaker to him also.”

“So what can we do to defeat him?” I asked.

“We need an element controller but there has not been one since my grandpa. It’s very unlikely there will ever be one again. Like I said before it’s a very rare gift.” He explained.

I felt bad for him. I could see they worry in his eyes. I wish there was something I could do for him. I walked hugged Chase and rubbed his back. I hate feeling so helpless. I want to do something but what? Then that’s when it hit me. He could change me. If he did then I could fight. That’s a great idea. I didn’t want to do it for me but I wanted to do it for him. I had to protect this family. I have known them for so long they are like my own. I didn’t want any of them getting hurt. I would make sure that didn’t happen.

“Chase I know what to do.” I said confidently.

“What?” He asked curious.

I looked him dead I the eye and smiled. I don’t know why but I was feeling good about this and I wanted to do it. I needed to do it.

“Change Me.”
