Gold Sprinkles Of Dust
Sitting up abruptly on my bed, I quickly left my room in search of Sapphy.
I looked up at the wall to see it was 2 am.
'Where did it go in the middle of the night?'
"Sapphy? Where are you?" I called out loudly. In response, I got the tickling sound of the clock and the thickening silence.
In the night, the house seemed too spooky and quite and that made a chill run down my spine. My own house appeared unfamiliar to me.
I tried to increase my hearing capability by listening to everything carefully.
'What if someone broke into my house and Sapphy tried to protect me and they-'
'No no no...'
I purposely pinched myself to remind myself I wasn't dreaming and was in my full senses.
Sapphy was really gone and I had to find him.
Oddly enough in those days, my heart grew a soft corner for that creature and in his presence, I felt really happy. Probably it was my loneliness in this house knowing that someone was there with me. Someone whom I could talk with without being judged.
A loud crunch was heard from outside making me jump back in fright.
Holding my breath I listened and flinched back as again that sound came with more louder this time.
Tiptoeing I managed to gather my courage and slowly peeped out from the hole in the door.
When I saw no intruder around, I slowly opened the door only to be hit by the cold wind. The satin nightgown wasn't helping my state as my teeth chattered against each other.
Wrapping my arm around myself, I walked a little in the courtyard as again that crunching sound revolving around the adjacent.
All of a sudden, I became alerted about my state. Heck, I didn't have anything to defend myself if anyone showed up with a dagger in their hand. It would be easier for them to drag my fragile body.
This time the crunching sounded more like a flapping of wings where I was standing under the tree.
With uncertainty, I looked up only to meet with the familiar pair of yellow eyes glowing down straight at me.
At first, I flinched back from the intensity of it but immediately relief flooded in my system that it was none other than my notorious little bird who decided to play hide and seek in the middle of the night.
"You scared me to death, Sapphy. Now be a good boy and come down already. I catch you." Huffing I was about to return back when an abrupt glow illuminated the area, making my eyes go blind for a second.
Squinting my eyes, I looked up and watched in bewitchment as Sapphy's white body started to fade in a gold sprinkle of dust and landed down smoothly in front of me, making a shadowy figure.
The dust was rotating like tornado whipping my eyelashes but I forced them open to see the unearthly phenomenon happening in front of me.
It began to shape into a human form and in the next moment, a tall figure was staring down at me intently.
All I recognized were those deep yellow orbs.
