Foreword: Griffin

What is it that they always say? Innocent until proven guilty?

In a justice system that's meant to be impartial, where your life and freedom hang in the balance, is this always the case? Is anyone innocent until proven guilty?

Or are you guilty, until proven innocent?

The media drags my name through the mud, speculation runs wild in the tabloids. My lawyers insist I remain silent. I'm only allowed to say two words to the press: 'no comment'.

They say the truth will out. They say the truth will set me free.

But that's not always the case, as I've come to learn. I told the truth and it did not save me. It did not absolve me. It did not set me free.

I learned the bitter lesson that, sometimes, truth is subjective. Sometimes, truth is buried, lost, or hidden. Sometimes, truth is fabricated.

No form of power or privilege can save you when you cross into that dangerous place, where truth has no weight.

So, when the truth fails, it's time to turn to lies.

All I need is one person to believe me.

The truth cannot save me. But she can.

It might be a deal with the devil in her eyes but, with only one convincing lie, she'll become my beautiful alibi.

I just couldn't resist a little teaser in the foreword. I can't wait to dive into this story and bring Griff and Annabelle to life.

I'll be working with alternating POV. The character names in the chapters will indicate which POV the chapter is narrated from.

Stay tuned! I'm aiming for one chapter a week between now and the holidays! Ambition: Wednesday or Thursday evening updates Central European time.
