David's POV
After a long week of recording I flew home. When I got off the plane I saw a certain brown haired girl waiting for me. I dropped my bag as she ran towards me.
"Em!" I said. She was tiny bit taller than me. I picked her up as I hugged her. She is my best friend but I also have a crush on her.
"Hey Bats! I missed you." She said. My heart fluttered. She missed me. Plus I love her nicknames for me.
"Let's get going before we get a mob." I said. Emily picked up my bag and we went to get the others. My mom came and picked me up.
"Where's sis?" I asked. I have an 18 year old sister.
"She couldn't get off of work. She'll be home soon and we'll go to dinner with Emily's family." My mom said. I nodded and nudged Em.
"You gonna actually dress up?" I asked.
"Mom's making me." She said. I laughed. She wasn't a girly girl. Right now she was wearing black shorts and a peach flowing tank. She was wearing the key necklace I gave her. I had the same one. She noticed me looking at it.
"Never take it off, especially when you're gone." She said mumbling the last part not knowing I heard the last part. I grabbed her hand and laced our fingers together. It's not the first time I've held her hand but I don't usually lace our fingers together. I really like her. My mom gave me a knowing look. She knew that I liked her. I noticed Em had fallen asleep and had her head on my shoulder. I tucked a random piece of hair behind her ear. I stroked her cheek.
"She was so excited to see you. She barely slept last night." She said. I smiled and looked at her. Her eyes were closed so you couldn't see her beautiful blue eyes. When we got home I gently shook her awake.
"Hey Em!" I said. I was still holding her hand. I smiled and that thought.
"Sorry I fell asleep on you Bats." She said. I laughed.
"You better get changed." I said. She let go of my hand and got out of the car. She waved and walked to the house next door which happened to her's. I smiled to myself and grabbed my bags. I went to my room and took a shower.
"David. We're going to a fancy restaurant. Please dress up." My mom called. I brushed my hair and put on gray pants, a red dress shirt, gray vest, and a black tie. I put on my black dress shoes. My hair was slightly curly. I walked downstairs to see my family ready.

When we arrived at the restaurant we saw her family waiting there. She was wearing a mint green high low dress that was strapless, black sandals, and the key necklace. Mom made me take off mine before we left. My mouth opened slightly.
"You look beautiful Em." I said. She blushed and looked down. She was embarrassed a little. I could tell.
"You look very handsome Dav." She said. She only called me by my full name when she had something very serious to say.
"Why don't you two go for a walk?" Her mom suggested. I grabbed her hand like before and pulled her away.
"How uncomfortable are you?" I asked and smiled. She laughed and smiled.
"Mom barely let me wear the necklace." She said and touched it.
"How long before you go back to recording?" She asked.
"In two months. Only for a month." I said.
"Just in time for our birthday." She said and smiled.
"Of course. I wouldn't miss it for the world." I said. Our birthday is February 18, 2001.
"So I know this is weird but would you like to go on a date tomorrow?" I asked and rubbed the back of my neck.
"Of course Bats!" She said and hugged me with her one arm.I rubbed my hand on her back. She is so amazing. How did I get such a sweet and beautiful best friend? I'm so lucky.
"We probably should head back Dav." She said. I nodded and we walked back. When we got to the restaurant and sat down. I grabbed her hand under the table. One thing that Emily hates is her family only really carry about money unlike my parents. She is a different story and I'm glad. I looked over at her. She was laughing at something my dad had said. The way her eyes light up when she laughed. She was always the most beautiful girl in the room to me. She glanced over at me.
"You're dad asked you a question."
She said. I blushed.
"Can you repeat the question?" I asked. Em squeezed my hand gently under the table.
"I asked if you two are dating?" He said.
"Um yes." I said. I had asked her dad before.
"About time." Her mom said. I laughed.
"I couldn't agree more." I said. Em looked down. I gently squeezed her hand. She gave me a small smile.
"Emily. Your father and I are going out of town for two weeks on business. You'll stay with David and his family." Her mom said. She nodded. She was sad.

When her parents left and she brought herself clothes over. My sister was at her house. Em went to change. I went to my room and changed. I put on a red v-neck and gray pj pants. I walked out and down to the living room. I saw she was wearing gray soft shorts and a navy shirt that happened to be mine. I had given her before I left for the first time.
"I remember that shirt." I said.
"Yea. I worry it all the time. Cause I missed you so much." She said.
"Doesn't smell like me anymore. I guess I'll have to give you another." I said and nudged her.
"No objection." She said. We both laughed. I put an arm around her and she put her head on my chest. I pulled a gray soft blanket over us and put on Flash. Our favorite show. After a few minutes I noticed she had fallen asleep.
"Night princess." I said and kissed her cheek.
"Night Bats." She said. I smiled to myself.
