Chapter 14: Don't be a chicken and admit it.

I hate my best friend.

"Fine, I'll do it." I cut her off before Alexis could have heard it. I didn't want anyone to know about my plan on getting revenge on Cameron.

"Girls, the teacher said for us to gather at the lobby in ten minutes." Anna, one of my classsmates, called from the door. I groaned and got up from the bed.

"First step of 'Seduce Cameron' is on." Jennifer whispered in my ear. I laughed as we made our way to the lobby. There were all the students and the five teachers. I saw Mr. Rodriguez trying to hide. Poor guy!

"Now that you are all here, I'd like to tell you some rules!" Mrs. Lambert spoke in a really loud voice. I rolled my eyes. "We are staying here for three days and I want you to behave. Mr. Willson here," she pointed at a mid aged man next to her, "will be our guide. Tomorrow, we will make a trip to the forest to explore different animals and plants there. There will be some rules..." I ignored her about them. She already told them yesterday in class. What I needed to do now was to find some pair of green eyes and start the first part of my plan.

I searched for him and found him on the corner, talking with Blake. I walked through the stdents until I reached them. Then I faked like I tripped on my own foot and fell to the ground with a loud thump. My poor butt! "Ow." I groaned loudly and put my hand on my fake-sprained ankle. Cameron turned his head immediately and looked down at me. As soon as he reealized that it was me, he sat down to examine my ankle.

"Are you alright?" he asked. He really sounded worried. I did my best not to blow up my acting. I groaned again as he took me in his arms like I weighed nothing. Was I really that slim or was he stronger that I thought? He did have a six-pack though. Now it was the right time. I wrapped my arms around his neck and looked directly into his green eyes. I leaned forward until our lips were only inches apart and I could feel his hot breath. As he prepared to kiss me, I whispered in his ear. "It's not sunset yet."

One for McKanzie, three for Cameron.

I burst into laughter as he let go of me. Then I ran away from him towards the elevator. I pressed the button but the stupid elevator was in eight floor. "Oh, come on." I huffed. I saw Cameron walking towards me very slowly and with a furious look on his face. Now I can imagine what slow and painful death meant.

I could try stairs, but man, he was faster than me. No, I was not going to lose without a fight. I lunged towards the stairs and started climbing them two at once. Cameron was on my tail, but I wouldn't give up. I was panting, but I didn't care. He wasn't going to catch me. Never. "Cinderella!" he called and I squealed when I felt two strong arms catch me by my waist. We were in front of my room.

"Let me go!" I tried to get free from him, but no success. He was way stronger than me.

"Big mistake, Cinderella." he whispered in my ear, sending shivers down my spine. Oh boy! Here we go again.

"McKanzie, the history teacher..." I heard Jennifer's voice behind us. Cameron let go of me as I ran towards my best friend and grabbed her hand.

"I love you." I said as we stopped behind the wall.

"So, I came in the wrong time." she smirked.

I glared at her. "You saved my life."

***

Last night was a disaster. I hated Alexis with a passion. She made my life a living underworld just by staying there. Not only she didn't let me sleep, but she brought one of her minions. Besides that, nothing else happened and the first day of our trip was over.

The second day started now. We were going to explore the forest with Mr. Williams. How great is that? Well, it had a good part, because the second step of 'Seduce Cameron' was going to get place. I hope to get out of this alive.

I wore my blue sweater, black yoga pants, a black beanie, which I stole from Cameron and a pair of boots. Then I got out of the room and went straight to the elevator, which wasn't empty. Arden and another guy, Elvis was his name, were there too. "Morning Arden!" I greeted him as I pressed the ground floor. He smiled at me and turned his attention to Elvis. Grumpy much? The elevator stopped twenty one seconds later, not that I counted, and I got out from it, the boys behind me.

The others were already on the lobby when I arrived there. That included also Cameron, who locked eyes with me and gave me a you-are-dead look. This was going to be along day.

After the teacher gave us the instructions, we headed to the buses. They had gotten another bus fortunately. I got on the bus and took one of the seats in the front. Hopefully, no one would sit with me. The bus got crowded in the next five minutes and luckily for me, nobody came to sit on the seat next to mine.

The ride was only thirty minutes as the two busses stopped on a road that lead you to the forest. To be honest, I was a little scared because the nature was not something I liked, especially in the places I had never been to. The watch on my hand showed that it was ten o'clock, which meant midday and the lunch time for me. I didn't have breakfast and my stomach was growling. Oh great!

As I got out of the bus, the cold wind made me shiver. I raised my head to look at the sky and it seemed like it was going to rain. Could this day get any better? Note the sarcasm.

Like that wasn't enough, Cameron thought it was a good idea to bug me. "Leave me alone." I hissed and took his arm off of my shoulder. He put it again, this time more strongly.

"Not today Cinderella." he smirked as we continued to walk through the creepy forest. We were in the middle of the crowd. Mr. Williams started talking, but I totally ignored him, including everything around me. Everything was green, even Cameron's eyes, who were looking at me.

"Can you stop staring at me? Is creeping me out." I winced. He looked startled from my complain and whipped his head in the opposite direction. So, I caught him off guard. "Anything special for you to look at?" I asked sarcastically. My second part of the plan was on.

"Huh?" he pretended to be oblivious.

"It's not that I'm ugly, but you were looking at me like I was the most beautiful girl you have ever seen." I winked. Man, since when do I have flirting skills?

A pink colour appearde at his cheeks, but it disappeard as soon sa it appeared. "No, I wasn't staring at you. Pffft!" he tried to laugh. I wasn't born yesterday Court!

"Oh, come on. Don't be a chicken and admit it." I said and saw him clench his jaw. Then he took off his arm from my shoulder and walked away, cursing under his breath. What was wrong with this guy?

I searched for Jennifer and found her with Blake in the front. I grabbed her hand and pulled her away. "Sorry, bud, but she is mine now." I smiled at the brunette guy and walked away from him. "Cameron is a butthole." I huffed.

"Tell me something I don't know." she laughed. "What did he do now?" she asked as we walked through the muddy road.

"He is bipolar, I swear. One minute he is smirking and the other, he storms away, cursing." I hissed in frustration. "I want to kill him."

"Slow down tiger. How is the plan going?"

"Well, I tried to flirt with him earlier, but he left. I guess I'll try it later."

"Good luck." she winked as we continued walking on the mud. Yay for me!

Twenty minutes of walking and I was alredy starving. Some drops of rain were falling here and there, but not really a rain. Mr. Williams finally decided to let us rest before we would turn back to the buses and straight to the hotel. Man, I couldn't wait anymore. I was alone since Cameron was avoiding me and Arden was busy flirting with other girls. And to think he said that he liked me. Yeah right!

It's not that you're spending time with him. My stupid unconcious just couldn't stay where she belonged. It's true though, but what should I do? I don't like him, I like Cameron.

Jennifer was busy making out with her boyfriend so I was left all alone. Not that I minded though. I used to be alone in my junior year. I didn't really have many friends back hime because I had some trust issues. Not that you could blame me. Neither my brother thought that I was good enough to tell me that he used to be a drug addict. "Is the princess alone?" a very annoying voice chuckled evily behind me. That's what I needed right now.

I ignored her and scrolled through the photos on Cameron's phone. I don't know how it ended up in my pocket, but my phone isn't. I guess we had accidentally exchanged them. There were mostly photos of him, but I stopped at one of them. It wasn't him, it was a middle-aged woman, with blonde hair and green eyes, smiling at the camera. She must be his mother, because the facial features were pretty similar. I swiped the screen and another photo appeared. This time I gasped. It was me and it wasn't a pretty one. I was sleeping, with my mouth open and drooling. Did I really sleep like that? Oh my freaking gosh!

"Did your friends leave you alone?" that voice spoke again in my ears. Didn't she have another to bother?

"At least I have friends." I shot back and locked Cameron's phone. That picture was creepy. I heard Alexis huff.

"Listen to me b*tch," I cringed at her swearing. "Cameron is mine, do you get it? M-I-N-E. And if you try-" I cut her off before she could annoy me more.

"Honey, first of all, Cameron is not a property," I stated, turning to look her evil face in the eye. "second of all, you can have him and last of all, leave me freaking alone." I said the last part in a loud voice. If Alexis could be annoying, I could be deafening. I seriously was resisting the urge to swear at her for frustrating me so much.

"One, don't call me honey, and two, I will leave me you alone when I want to." she hissed.

"How about now?" I suggested sarcastically and pushed her away. She gaped and lunged at me. I didn't have time to avoid her as she pushed me hard backwards. I couldn't hold my balance and fell on my butt, on the mud. You're so on for this Alexis.

I got up and ran towards her. She didn't expect it so we fell both on the mud, me on top of her. We started pulling one-anothers hair and slapped each other until I felt something pull me down. I panicked. What could pull me down if I was already on the ground? Then it hit me. "Stop!" I screamed. If I knew anything about suction sand it was that the more you moved, the more it pulled you down.

Alexis stopped when she realized where we were. She started to panic and scream for help. One of her minions grabbed her arm and started pulling her up, but she wasn't strong enough. But no one came to rescue me. I felt the ground pulling me more until the sand reached my chest. I was going to die. I knew it. I closed my eyes and waited for the ground to fully absorb me. I felt tears at the corner of my eye, but I fought them. I didn't want to die crying. I was stornger than that. I felt someone grab my hand and starting to pull me up, but I knew I was imagining. Who could possibly rescue me?

"Cinderella, hold my hand." someone, or should I say Cameron spoke. Huh? I opened my eyes and locked them with a pair of familiar green eyes. "Cinderella, come on!" he oredered as I held his hand stronger. He pulled me up and I could feel myself freeing from the suction sand and I was only with my feet inside. Blake caught my other hand and helped me to fully be free.

Seems like there were people who cared for me.
