Chapter 4: Holy sweet peaches, I didn't think that, did I?
I hated my Math teacher. During my high school life I hadn't gotten a single detention and she was the first to give me one. And you know why? Because Cameron couldn't keep his hands to himself and played with my hair. I let him for the first ten minutes but enough was enough and I yelled at him. "Detention!" Ms. Graham was shooting daggers at us. The detention was for the both of us of course. He was the bad boy of the school, there was no way he wouldn't be on the detention room. There were some other jocks on the other side of the class, but they ignored us. As I looked through the classroom, I noticed I was only female specimen. Somebody help me!
"Nerdhead!" Cameron whispered on my ear, sending shivers down my spine. I wanted to slap myself for reacting to his actions. Even the darned whisper affected me. "Hey, Nerdhead, talk to me." he continued to bug me. They say detention is fun, but I didn't think so. Detention was pure torture if you have Cameron next to you. I had given him silent treatment since morning.
Only fifteen minutes had passed. That meant I had thirty more minutes to kill. And killing Cameron seemed a good idea.
Just kidding. Or am I?
"Nerdhead, come on." he pleaded and I did my best not to laugh. "I'm sorry." he said suddenly. Huh? "I didn't mean to cause you detention." he continued. Oh. Well, since he said he was sorry... no, no one told him to get me in trouble. "Nerdy, pwetty pwease!" he made a puppy face and I couldn't hold it anymore. I laughed.
"Never heard of 'no'?" I said, still laughing. He frowned and stuck his tongue at me. Copy cat.
"No. Does that mean you forgive me?" he said in a childish voice.
"You're deluded." I grinned. "Fine, I forgive yo-" he grabs me in a bear hug. "C-can't bre-breathe."
"Sorry." he let go of me and smiled, a real smile, with dimples. Could he be more perf- What?
Holy sweet peaches, I didn't think that, did I?
"Nerdhead, are you okay?" Cameron asked and I merely nodded. I was not okay at all, I had reached the level of insanity. I saw the time, twenty-five other minutes to kill. What should we do? I glanced at the jocks on the other side and an idea popped on my mind. I smiled evily and leaned onto Cameron's ear, his scent hitting my nose, and whispered. "Those jocks seem bored. How about we entertain them a little, don't you think?"
He smirked, apparently loving the idea. Then he turned to me. "What's the plan?" he asked, rubbing his hands and acting like a little kid in Christmas. I chuckled and told him my plan. He listened to me carefully, nodding. We started preparing and waited for the last ten minutes to start. This was going to be fun.
***
"Run!" Cameron yelled and I didn't wait but ran like my life depeneded on it. And maybe it did. Those jocks didn't seem happy. I ran through the hallway, down the stairs and towards the school entry. Cameron was on my tail and the jocks behind him. Holy macaroni! They were going to kill us. Someone grabbed my hand and lead me to the opposite side of the parking lot to the road. We went behind a building and hid in there. I caught my breath and put my hand in my knees. Cameron did the same as we looked at each other, bursting into fits of laughter. "That definitely got them out of boredom." Cameron chuckled.
"Can't say I'm not a genious." I smirked. He rolled his eyes at me before grinning. "Did we lose them?" I asked as Cameron watched down the road.
"I guess so. Come on." he said grabbing my hand for the second time and dragging me out of our hiding place. His hand in mine sent lightnings through my skin and made my stomach flutter.
We walked towards the school's parking lot where my Ford was parked. Yup, I was a proud owner of a Ford. It was a deep blue with a cute - ahem - stink on the backseat. Apparently the previous owner of this car had a cat who bore her kittens on the backseat. Anyways, it was a nice car and I wouldn't change it. Who knew in the future? I could have my red Ferrari and my own driver when I'd be a famous writer and-
Snap out of it McKanzie.
My phone buzzed in my butt and I jumped startled. Those daydreams will give me a heart attack one of these days, I swear. I took out my phone and saw the caller ID: J-Lo.
Oh sweet peaches! I forgot about her. I immediately answered the call, waiting for a screaming match from my friend. "Cindy McKanzie Garfield! Where the hell are you?" she screamed as I predicted.
"Calm down tiger. I'm at the parking lot. Come here and I'll explain." I said calmly. She took deep breaths and agreed. Jesus Christ, that girl was loud. "Mind if we wait for Jennifer?" I smiled sheepishly at Cameron. He furrowed his brows at the mention of her but nodded nevertheless. Then he got on the car, in the driver's seat. What the he-
No cussing McKanzie. My concious reminded me.
Phew, that was close. I swear, every time this guy is near me, I was not myself. "What are you doing? That's my seat." I growled as I approached the window of my car.
"So? I'm driving." he shrugged his shoulders. Oh the blessed cherries! If he thought he was driving my car, he was not on the right state of mind. "I am in the right state of mind Nerdhead. Now give me the keys." he ordered. Did he just read my mind or did I say it out loud?
I took the keys out of my pocket and handing them to him. "Take care of my baby." I whispered as Cameron laughed.
"You're weird." he stated and started the ignition. Just then, a furious Jennifer appeared. She grabbed my hand and dragged me out of Cameron's hearing range.
"Why didn't you tell me he was with you?" she asked, pointing at the curly brown haired boy in my car.
"Is there a reason I should tell you?" I raised an eyebrow. I knew something had happened between them, the tension could be felt from miles away.
"Whatever. Come on." she shrugged it off like she wasn't the one who wanted to rip my head off a few moments ago. "So, McKanzie, explain." Jen demanded after we got on the car. "Why didn't you call me?"
"Well, I got detention because of someone." I dragged the 'someone' glaring at Cameron. He just snorted and continued driving. "We pranked some jocks and then ran for our lives." I said. "Where's Arden?" I asked. Cameron gripped on the steering wheel until his knuckles turned white. That only proved my suspicions.
"Probably banging some chick." Jen said as I cringed. Ewww, too much information.
"Since when did Arden become a player?" I was surprised. He had been a nerd in freshman, even though an evil nerd. But he had never played around.
"Since we came here." Jen answered. It was just me or it was getting harder to breathe? The tension between Jennifer and Cameron was getting unbearable and I couldn't stand it anymore.
"Okay, that's enough." I yelled, the two of them staring at me, startled from my outburst. "What the freaking Superman is going on between you two?" I asked, lowering my voice. Cameron turned his attention to the road while Jennifer stared at her lap.
"Nothing." they both said at the same time. I glared at both of them. "We're here." Cameron announced and stopped the car, climbing out of it immediately. I shook my head and climbed out of my car as well, shutting the door behind me.
Jennifer followed me as I entered my house. Cameron was nowhere to be seen, nor my sister or Oliver. I headed to my room and when I opened the door, I almost screamed. Nope, I did scream. Cameron was there, on his boxers, trying to wear his shorts. I closed my eyes shut and ran out of the room, grabbing Jennifer's arm and going to the kitchen. "What happened?" Jennifer asked.
"Cameron was half-naked." I breathed, catching my breath. My best friend gasped.
"What was he doing in your room?" she whisper-yelled.
"He kinda lives here." I shrugged and sat on the counter. Jen's eyes popped out of her skull.
"He lives here?" she screamed and I smiled sheepishly at her.
"Never heard of knocking Nerdhead?" Cameron appeared in the kitchen, fortunately fully dressed in a white t-shirt, which showed up his muscles and black shorts. "Unless you want to-" he trailed off as I shot him a glare.
"I didn't know that I have to knock to enter in my room. Never heard of bathrooms?" I gritted my teeth.
"I can't stand him!" I yelled frustrated after I dragged Jen out of the kitchen. We entered in my room and I ensured the door was locked.
"Explain!" Jen muttered as we sat on my bed. And so I told her everything, since the first day I met him at the principal's office until then. She listened to me carefully. I didn't tell her about the almost kiss and the sparks I felt. I was trying to convince myself I didn't like him. "Well, that was something girl, especially the part when you called him a hot piece of meat. That's hilarious!" she giggled and I smacked her.
"Don't make fun of me." I pouted. She laughed and kissed my cheek. "So, tell me about Blake." I wiggled my eyebrows as she blushed. The situation was serious it seemed.
"Well, I met him during the summer at the bar I worked. He is in our school, a senior and in the soccer team. We've talked to each other during the summer and now that the school started he asked me out on a date." she said.
"Do you like him?" I asked. She deserved to be happy.
"Yeah." she said in a 'duh' tone.
"So, where's the date?"
"I don't know. He only said to wear something comfy and not a dress." she said and I put a hand to my head. Comfy and not a dress?
"Do you still have that shirt I bought you for birthday?" I asked her.
"The white shirt?" I nodded. "I guess."
"Perfect. That would be great with black skinny jeans and boots." I said excited.
"Thanks. You're the best."
"It's my middle name." I smirked.
"Modest much?"
***
Jennifer left at five to get ready for her date. I didn't know where the freaking Batman Cameron was and my sister came home early, teaming up with Jennifer and putting ideas in my head. What was wrong with them? Jennifer obviously couldn't stand Cameron and Clara...ughhhhh.
I was in my room, finishing off my homework when my phone buzzed. A text from Charming Ron.
Charming Ron: heyy nerdhead ;)
Oh boy! Now I had to deal with that guy.

He logged out. What the freaking apples just happened?
"McKanzie!" Clara yelled. What does she want now?
"Yeah." I called back.
"Dinner's ready."
"Coming." I shouted and got up from my bed. My hair were like a bird's nest from running my hands through them in frustration. To say I hate Math was the understatement of the century. I opened my room's door and went downstairs in the kitchen. Oliver had already started eating, Clara was filling my plate and Cameron wasn't there. Where did he go? I hadn't seen him since he left in the afternoon. I hope he wasn't in some kind of trouble. I sat down on my chair and started digging in my steak. My sister knew how to cook a delicious steak, even though it wasn't better than mine. "Where's Cameron?" I asked no one in particular.
"He said that he would sleep over at a friend's house." Oliver answered and I nodded.
"Well, if someone would've let him sleep in a real bed than he wouldn't have to sleep over." Clara pointed out and I shot her a glare.
"Shut up. I won't let him in my bed." I growled and continued to eat my steak. She really was frustrating. I won't sleep with Cameron. That sounded dirty!
