Chapter 11- He is just an acquitance.

I was stunned, surprised. Arden liked me? It couldn't be possible. He, my best friend, was falling for me. I mean, I'd heard plenty of stories where best friends fall in love with each other, but I never thought it could happen to me.

"I..." I started but the words wouldn't come out. What would I say? I never looked at Arden in that way. I mean, of course, he was good looking and all, but he was my best friend. And there was another problem, I liked Cameron, his supposed arch enemy.

"Don't say anything. I know it's hard and unexpected for you, but I just had to tell you." he said and I looked at him for the first time since he confessed. His expression was unreadable. I wanted to say something, but I didn't know what, so I remained silent.

We stayed there for a while, just watching the busy city in front of us. I felt guilty for not liking him back. He was a wonderful guy and every girl wouuld be lucky to be with him. He maybe was a player, but he was a good guy if you searched deep in him. Before I could process what I was doing, I threw my arms around him and hugged him tightly. He stiffened for a moment but hesitantly hugged me back. "I'm sorry." I apologized.

The ride back was silent. How would I act around him now?

We entered in the living room, which surprisingly was empty. Arden grabbed my arms and spun me around to face him. "McKanzie, I don't want you to act differently with me. They are my feelings and I understand if you don't return them. And I still want to be your friend if you want too."

"Of course I want you to be my friend. Except Jennifer, you are the only friend I have and I don't want to lose you. It's just that...I was surprised." I said honestly.

"What about him?" he asked. I knew who he was talking about. And that him was right in front of me, looking between us. My eyes locked with his and he immediately looked away and clenched his jaw. What was wrong with him anyway?

"He is just an acquitance." I answered, making my voice loud enough for him to hear. He had hurt my feelings by avoiding me all this time. Now it was my turn to hurt his, if he had any. "Nothing more." I added, ignoring the hurt that those words caused. He was so much more for me, but I wasn't for him. I hugged Arden and saw the look that Cameron gave me, a look of betrayal.

Cameron coughed loudly, causing Arden to turn around and face him. "Am I interrupting something?" he asked, venom laced in his face.

"Yes, you are." I said before Arden could speak. Arden stiffened, but didn't say anything. I looked coldly at Cameron, but he still didn't leave. Stupid you-know-what!

"Oh sorry." Sarcasm was clear on his voice as he smirked. "I didn't know that pr*cks were allowed on my house!" he spitted. Arden couldn't hold anymore his calmness. He lunged at Cameron and punched him stright on the face. I gasped. Cameron punched back and the you know what breaks loose in this kind of situations. Punches and profanities were thrown between them while I was screaming for them to stop, but it seemed that no one wanted to stop. "STOP!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs for the last time. They stopped dead in their tracks and I sighed in relief. Finally. But my relief was cut shor when I looked their busted faces.

Arden had a cut on his left eyebrow and on his lower lip, while Cameron had a bloodied nose and lip. They were both panting and glaring at each other. I went between them and put my hands on each of their chests to separate them. "You," I pointed at the blonde dude. "Out!" he looked at me confused and wanted to protest but I shot him a don't-you-dare look. He nodded. "And you," I turned to the curly one. "Upstairs, now." I commanded. Man, since when was I this bossy? With a winning smirk and a groan, Cameron climbed up the stairs and went to my room. Arden sighed.

"Sorry, I just can't stand him." he said apologetically and I knew he really ment it. As long as I knew, Arden wasn't the one for fights.

I grabbed his arm and dragged him to the door. "He's a..." I trailed off. Arden understood what I wanted to say and chuckled at my lack of swearing words. "And you're not better." I spat. He groaned in pain and hugged me.

"You love me anyways." He winked and walke towards his car.

I closed the front door and prepared to deal with the dork that lives in my house. I headed to my room and entered inside. Cameron was lying in my bed and snoring. Was he sleeping already? I groaned and went to the bathroom to get the first aid. His nose needed to be taken care of. As I returned to my room, he was still sleeping and an idea came up to me. He liked Kendirck Lamar, right? So It's On Again was his song. I took his phone and searched through his songs and bingo, I found it. I blasted the music and put the phone on his ear. He jumped from the bed and cursed under his breath. "What the f*ck?" I cringed at his use of words, but the look on his face made me burst on laughter. He looked terrified.

"Your...face!" I managed to say but I couldn't stop laughing. That was hilarious.

"Ha-ha, very funny." he huffed and sat on my bed. I stopped laughing and opened the first aid kit. Fortunately, his nose wasn't bleeding anymore. I sat next to hom and started to clean his nose and lip. Cameron hissed in pain sometimes, but he deserved it. He was the one who provoked the fight. "What was that about?" I asked as I finished with his face.

He frowned and looked away. "I hate him." was all he said. Ughhh. I stood up from my bed and went to my laptop. That history project won't prepare itself. I opened a new PowerPoint presentation. "What are you doing?" he spoke behind him. I shivered.

"Homework?" I said sarcastically. "The project that we are partners on?" my sarcasm continued. "And that you didn't want to-" he cut me off by placing a hand on my mouth.

"I get it." he stated. "No need to be sarcastic."

History, teacher, Cameron, project. I guess you get the picture. I was stuck in history class with Cameron and presenting the project, more like standing in front of the class like a tree. Cameron, like the smart guy he was, wouldn't let me present the project, but kept hitting on the teacher. I swear, as soon as this class ended, I was going to strangle him to death.

"Germany and USA-" I started for the millionth time but as usually, Cameron couldn't keep his mouth shut.

"You speak too much Cinderella, you're hurting my ears." he fake-whined and I stooped at his foot. "Owww." he groaned.

"Sit down McKanzie, your grade is a B and Cameron, your grade is an A." she said. What the freaking oranges? Was she out of her mind? I had never gotten a B on history!

"But-" I started but the -ahem- raised her index finger to silence me.

Cameron snorted beside me. "Oh come on Nerdhead, it's only a B, not the end of the world." he said like it was nothing. What was wrong with him?

"For me it is." I protested and turned to the teacher. "Please, I did all the work, he did nothing." I said, stomping on the other Cameron's foot.

"Is this true Mr. Court?" she asked suspicially and I did a happy dance on my mind. I turned to him and gave him a murdereous glare.

"Well, she did the most." he said defeated.

"Fine, you both get an A." she said and went to sit on her chair. I wasn't happy because he didn't deserve an A, but anyways my A was important.

Before I could sit on my seat, I turned to Cameron and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. "Don't you ever mess with my grades, understand?" I threatened. He didn't look intimidated at all, in fact, he looked amused.

"I like it when you're mad." he smrked that million dollar smirk of his. Idiot!

The bell rand and I grabbed my bag, storming out of the class. I wasn't paying attention to where I was walking. Big mistake. I bumped at someone and then my butt met the hard floor with a loud thump. "Ouch."

"I'm so sorry." the voice was familiar. I lifted my head up and met the brown eyes of Blake. "McKanzie?" he asked worried and offered his hand to help me up. I took it and stood up to my feet again.

"Thanks." I said.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah, don't worry." I shrugged it off. In fact my butt was hurting.

"No, you're not. Come on." he grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the busy hallway. Then he lead us to the cafeteria. I had a free period, so I didn't mind. We sat on a table. "I brought you here because Jen told me something."

"Of course she would." I groaned. Great, now Blake knew about me liking Cameron. Couldn't that girl keep a secret? "You havent told him, have you?" I asked terrified.

"No, I haven't." I sighed in relief. "And I won't. Look, Cameron and I have been best friends for a long time and I know him at the palm of my hand." he said. I knew what he meant. Me and Jennifer have been friends since I can't remember. We were like opened books to each other. "And he had had a difficult childhood. Do you know about his parents?" I nodded. "Well, because of that he doesn't believe in love and that's why he has put that bad boy image on him. He doesn't want to end up hurt. I don't know if he likes you or another girl, but I suggest you to not give up on him."

"I don't know Blake. He is so confusing and I can't deal with him." I said honestly. "And besides, he is with Alexis." I added. I hated to admit it, but it broke my heart every time I saw them together. But there was something else bugging me. "Do you know why Cameron and Arden hate each other?" I asked, curiosity getting the best of me.

"You don't know?" he asked surprised. I shook my head no. "I hope Jennifer doesn't kill me." he said more to himself. "Well, I wasn't here when all of that happened. Jennifer and Cameron were in a relationship in sophomore year for four months. Cameron was the bad boy of the school and Jennifer the new girl. Arden didn't like Cameron, but he had to accept him for the sake of his sister. But something happened. Cameron cheated on Jennifer. You can imagine what happened after." to say my jaw was on the floor would be the understatement of the century. Cameron and Jennifer had been dating? And no one didn't tell me that?

"And you're okay with it?" I asked surprised. I had so many other questions, but this is the one that decided to come out from my mouth.

"It happened before I knew Jen and everything is over between them." he said simply and I nodded. That explains everything. Why Jennifer and Cameron didn't want to see each other and why Arden hates Cameron so much. What I don't understand it's why didn't they tell me when I asked them?

***

"Jennifer Ellen Collins!" I called her. The school was over an hour ago and since I didn't see her anywhere at school, I decided to come on her house. She was not with Blake and Arden told me that she was in her house. I went to her room and knocked on the door.

"Come in." I heard a faint voice speak. I opened the door and entered inside. The room was messy, which was weird for Jennifer. She usually kept it tidy. "What are you doing here?" her loud voice startled me. I turned around to see Jennifer crumbled oh her bed, crying her eyes out.

I ran towards her. "What happened?" I asked worried.

She stopped sobbing and turned angirly at me. "You should know it better since you kissed my boyfriend." she hissed as I stared at her. I kissed her boyfriend? What the freaking cherries? Who told her that lie?

"Jenn-" I started but she cut me off.

"Get out! I don't want to know nothing about you." she screamed.

"What is happening here?" we both looked at a confused Arden at the door.

"That b*tch over there," Jennifer pointed at me. "stole my boyfriend." she finished.

"Is that true?" Arden asked in disbelief, looking accusantly at me. What? Neither he didn't believe me. "McKanzie," he was angry. Of course he would be. Jennifer was his siter, while I was the stupid nerd that he was falling for.

"No, it's not and I'm going to prove that to you." I yelled as I stormed out of her room and ran down the stairs. Then I opened and closed the front door angirly. I just lost my to best friends. As I got on my car, I broke down into tears. I have known Jennifer and Arden since the first grade and now they hate me. Why? Because some evil made them believe that I was a boyfriend stealer. Who told her that lie? There was only one person in this world that could have done that.

You're on Alexis Williams.
