In My Defense

I don't mean to offend anybody, but I feel like I need to make a defense.

JuliaTheMantis inherited the Foxfins, and I took inspiration for my Flizzards. I really looked up to her in her artwork, and I expected for her to be more of a mentor to me and that she might like the fact that a young, new artist was trying to follow in her footsteps.

But I soon found out, that creating a species with even significantly different features appears to be off limits.

Flizzards are a different species than Foxfins. Not a copy. I used some similar wording, and that turned out to be offensive, and I can change that. But I'm not going to change the species history or Classifications. Mythic or mythical are two common words used quite often in many things. So is the word extinct. I can use these without stealing.

When she asked me to make them more unique, I created an absolutely original kind of Flizzard. I was accommodating.

But she still wanted them to be completely different. She even drew a redesigned Flizzard and redesigned all the details. This really hurt me, because it seemed like she was telling me what was okay to draw. Who tells her what's okay to draw?

I have a right to be upset, and she said I should remove Flizzards from Wattpad all together.

Mantis sent me a drawing of what I should draw and told what I can't draw. Has she done this to anyone else?

Art should be fun, free, and unregulated. Let's keep it that way.
