So I was debating on making this for a number of reasons. For one I don't want my content to be souly on one character and I want to make things people will enjoy, two it's already been a week or three since his passing, three I don't think many people would see this on an art book I abandoned, and also four, I don't want to make myself look this emotionally attached. But at the same time, I did a thing like this for the first Elemental, so is it fitting to do the same for this one? After all I made a lot of art on this guy and never showed any of it on wattpad! So maybe this is a good excuse to show you how I've improved! Or maybe ranting out all my thoughts and feelings will help me move on with this insignificant loss. I dunno. I probably sound weird talking about it. But how about I just get straight to the eulogy.

Elemental Steve. A friend, a brother, a villain to some, and a child to others. Rainbow Quest Elemental has claimed many of these titles over a length of 6 months. Yes six I looked. In about 5 intros of the series he resonated in, he's made an impact on many people. Steve or human. Some say his death was more tragic than Rainbow Steve's. but how exactly did it come to this? How did he go from a innocent child, to a misled soul so quickly. Let's review.
November 11, 2020. The day Elemental and his brother were born. This came as a surprise to many people and they all had many mixed feelings. Aside from me I was livid. Galaxy had been presumably destroyed and people were already starting to bet how long it would take for Elemental to turn evil. But overall people were optimistic.
Fast forward a few episodes and Void Steve comes clearly into the picture after destroying Galaxy. Elemental and Time jump in to save Sabre, Rainbow and Blue Steve in the knick of time, and they're very coordinated too! Time and Elemental worked together well. Their bond strong and their strength nearly unmatched. At our first look of Elemental's personality he's shown to be different from the original Elemental. He's blunt, straight to the point, tempered, slightly sarcastic, and unsophisticated. He also seems to take orders more than make them. Especially to Time and Sabre. Time usually had to calm Elemental down whenever his hot temper spiked up.
Time and Elemental join Sabre's team and together they settle down in a new rainbow hub curacy of Rainbow Steve. Soon however their time in the rainbow hub is short as a green portal indicates darkness had attacked the green kingdom. Elemental volunteers to go and follows Sabre and Rainbow to his first experience with darkness. It isn't a pretty first experience. Darkness shrouding the land, steves infected. It overwhelms Elemental a little. They make haste assessing the situation and Elemental goes on his own accord to scan the area. A decision he makes on his own. He discovers steves being held captive and with the help of Sabre frees them. Elemental attacks Void with ice, they make a get away with the two green steves, and the mission was... not a success. I mean to them it wasn't but I loved the episode! A whole episode dedicated to Elemental on the good side. Everything I ever hoped for! That feeling doesn't last long however...
One of the green steve refugees was infected. Time can save this Steve, but Elemental panics and kills the Steve in front of everyone. Everyone is mad, Time is horrified, and people were now starting to bet money on evil Elemental. Elemental tries to say it was to protect everyone, after seeing what darkness can do in all. He thought it was the best option, when in reality there were alternatives routes. This is foreshadowing for what is to come.
Elemental storm off to cool down on his own and for a few episodes things are only getting worse. Mainly for Rainbow who is on Void's team now. Eventually Elemental talks with the others and again tell them he thought it was the right thing to do. No one is happy about this, but they teach Elemental that killing is bad and move on.
This is crucial to Elemental's character. Unlike Time, Elemental learns things. He isn't born with knowledge and has to learn these things bit by bit. After learning killing is bad, he has a new opinion on things and works to never harm another steve. This learning trait is shown in many other moments later on. Like when Time tells him to be patient he listens, when he's told not to go places he's loyal to that, when Sabre tells him to be optimistic, he teaches that knowledge to another steve. It's proof that he's a learner and doesn't understand things until it happens to him.
A few more things happen. They get captured by Void Steve, escape, go the the great library where Elemental gets stuck on a chandelier and scares everyone with the idea of going evil (my god he was adorable), try to trap Rainbow in a machine which backfires, and they fight Rainbow. Elemental is put on defence for the fight and is shown to cheer Time Steve on as he battles Rainbow. A little moment of Elemental caring a lot for Time. After the battle he's also shown to be clingy with Time. Like a little brother. This fact is truly talked about when Time goes away for a long time to the time dimension.
Time is weakened by an attack in the rainbow hub after sending his friends away from the scene including Sabre and Elemental. When Elemental can't feel Time's presence using his energy sensing powers, he has a full out mental breakdown. He can't handle the idea of Time gone. It's truly a sign of weakness and the first time we've seen any Elemental depressed. Sabre comforts him and leads him away to focus on other things. Together they evacuated the yellow kingdom, send the Yellow Leader away to a pocket dimension, evacuate the orange kingdom, send the Orange Leader away, and have a couple brief moment together in the fallen orange kingdom, and in the in-between Elemental made on his own time. Sabre sees Elemental more mature after the green Steve incident, and it looks as if Sabre and Elemental are genuine homies. Seriously though that "heck yeah dude," from Elemental was beautiful. Makes me think Elemental learned that slang from Sabre though.
Elemental is used in a machine to find Time and the moment he sees a ghost version of him he's overwhelmed with joy, wanting to get out of the machine and see Time as quickly as possible. When Sabre refuses it for good reasons such as "Time is the only reason Rainbow is alive," he gets fussy, but understands and accepts it; knowing he'll see Time soon. Later after knowing where Time is a portal to Rainbow opens up and Elemental aids Sabre to rescue him. The mission ends in a tragic death with Rainbow Steve gone, the crystals separated, and Void Steve becoming the legendary Rainbow Void (I love this Void era). Filled with pure terror from both the heroes it looks like the end for them. Sabre tells Elemental he was a good friend and Elemental struggles to do anything against Void to save themselves. Just as Void is about to kill them both though, Time comes in and takes the two to the time dimension, now that he has no link to Rainbow and is feeling better. Time insists they leave without him to the overworld, but Elemental gets all puppy dog eyed begging Time to come with them. Another moment of Elemental truly caring. Time buys into it and accepts to come with them. This immediately makes Elemental happy and he practically drags Time to the exit.
A lot happens after this. Rainbow's funeral is held, Sabre becomes evil, and we can only imagine what happened after two months of what I like to call... the Dark Ages (TM).
Once Sabre gains back control from the darkness he goes to Time and Elemental. Elemental isn't having none of Sabre and Time agrees with him, but still is willing to help Sabre despite everything.
I like to think Elemental is mad at Sabre because the shadow sword that Sabre uses, is the same sword Elemental gave him. After Sabre comforted Ele, he gave Sabre and iron sword straight from the ground. I know this is more of a theory than fact, but here. Look at the two swords compared.

The iron sword from Elemental has 16 attack speed and has unbreakable, the Shadow Sword has the same properties. The only difference is the attack damage, but I think we can blame that difference on the number of lives Sabre has taken. Darkness logic am I right?
But anyways that's my take on the whole thing. At one point after Sabre hears rumours of him killing Rainbow and Funny Orange, he goes to Time and Elemental. He confronts them about letting the rumours happen, but the conversation is turned onto Sabre over the sword, Elemental tries to take it from Sabre but Sabre retaliates by striking the sword on him and knocking him down a small flight of stairs. Time doesn't like any of this. He banishes Sabre out of the time dimension to protect his brother. Now it's Times turn to show how much he cares! I mean it was obvious he did from the start, but even after the incident Time still takes Elemental's side and stands by him when Sabre asked for allies in the battle to Rainbow Void which I find noble of Time.
So Sabre destroys Raknbow Void, gets the rainbow crystal, hands the darkness sword to light, hide it, heal all the infected steves including Orange and Yellow leader, and they all have s party!! I WISH, this was the ending to Rainbow Quest. I really do! Everyone is happy, the steves are at peace at last, the evil that ruled the world for generations is gone, and they even end the episode with a Gerald cameo! Things are great. But of course you can't end a series like that. There has to be more to the story. And this is an Elemental Eulogy! He had to die at some point.
Time and Elemental start to get these vision dreams from Galaxy himself in the rainbow kingdoms era, and they agree to stop interfering with the overworld. This agreement unfortunately is the snowball that rolls into a boulder of trouble. Time is less into the whole idea with no interacting with the overworld, and starts to help Sabre behind Elemental's back. The more Time helps, the angrier Elemental gets. So bad to the point Elemental cuts ties with everything and... well I don't like to talk about this side of Elemental. Sabre always calls it a hostage situation where Elemental is keeping Time away from everyone, but we all know it's a form of... abuse. I just don't like to think of Elemental this way. He has good intentions of why he's keeping Time like this, but there's no good way of ever glossing over this fact of Elemental. It's abuse plain and simple.
Sabre and Elemental fight over Time and eventually Sabre is able to get Time away from Elemental for a long period of time. Time isn't looking too good and gets healed by the Professor, after taking down Void a second time in steve hell, Elemental finds them in a village they've settled down in. There's a bit of a conversation before Time straight up disowns Elemental. God that shattered me. They were inseparable for so long, and just like that Time wants nothing to do with him. I got no bias on Time he had every right to do what he did. Elemental after all was becoming too much to handle. But Elemental wasn't having any of this. He performs a move called "Earth Splitter" and destroys the village they were in, along with accident killing another green Steve. I say accidentally because Elemental never intended on hurting anyone. Again he learned killing is bad, that green Steve (known as a village leader) was just too close to Elemental's devastating attack and he didn't realize it sooner.
The village is healed and after a bit of time Elemental comes to Sabre for what we believe is help. He doesn't know how to fix things and doesn't know where to start. To me, I feel like this could have been dealt with better. Sabre tells him he has to figure this all out on his own. He understands this feeling Elemental is going through because of the darkness he went through, but despite that Sabre refuses to help Elemental and turns him away just as everyone did to him. I disagree with how this is handled because as said before, Elemental is a learner. He doesn't know how to apologize or fix what he's done. Heck he once told Sabre that he isn't good at apologizing. He's only ever done it once. So how can he fix what he's done when no one will tell him the proper steps? Elemental gets mad again and storms off in an emotional fit.
The second time Elemental is shown is when he wants to check on his brother. It's shown that Elemental has gone into some sort of denial phase. He believes that nothing needs to be fixed because it was either all fixed by Time, or was never physically damaged to begin with. He doesn't consider the idea that feelings were hurt however, and unfortunately Sabre has to break it to Elemental that he did something that can't ever be fixed. Elemental upset to hear that he killed another steve, refuses to believe it and runs off again, struggling more than ever.
The third time Elemental comes around is when this time he want to talk to Time. No one knows what he wants to say, but after knowing what happens next might be a possible outcome, at least that's my theory. Time runs off before Elemental can talk to him, and Sabre and Elemental get into an argument. Elemental gets so heated up that he's considering killing Sabre, no thanks to Sabre as he's the one taunting him. Just as Elemental I think actually wants to go through with, Professor Red comes in and takes Sabre. This turns out to be a big mistake, and soon the biggest mistake of Elemental's life. Elemental teleports back to Sabre in Professor Red's lab and in come the Red Leader. Full of rage, Elemental attacks the Red Leader and threatens Sabre to stay away from Time before leaving them. What Elemental didn't know though was that red steves can't regenerate, so if it wasn't for the Professor, Elemental would have killed the Red Leader next (low key kinda wished he did though if I knew what would happen). In comes the one and only, Hypno Steve. Angry at Elemental for attacking him, he goes to Elemental and tricks him, he makes a machine designed to kill Elemental, but tells him he can use it to merge Time and himself to create Galaxy Steve. Thinking this would fix everything and please Galaxy, Elemental is thrilled and gullible as always. Once Time and Sabre confront him Elemental activates the machine.
This is by far the most heart wrenching fight scene we've ever had to whiteness as viewers. Despite Time saying he wasn't caring for Elemental at that moment, he doesn't want to hurt Elemental in the battle, where Elemental wants to fights Time so he can win, knowing there's only one way out and it's to become Galaxy. The battle ends in a tie and it's at this point where Elemental realizes he's been tricked, along with realizing all the mistakes he's made. It usually takes a life threatening moment to point out your mistakes in most people, so I wasn't too surprised by this. Knowing there's no way out, and Elemental could never live without Time Steve, Elemental tells Time to kill him. He knows there's nothing left for him if he lives. He knows he can't go back on his faults, and he probably even believes Time doesn't love him anymore. Time of course refuses to kill his own brother, so Elemental unfortunately takes matters into his own hands and kills himself. As he falls apart, Time by his side, he leaves with these parting words...

"Always do your best - your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgement, self-abuse, and regret."

And with that... Elemental is gone. A steve with great potential, but was misled by a vengeful steve, and was presumably abandoned when his actions could have all been avoided with a bit of help. His final words have meaning. He had experienced regret from straying so far, self judgment from having high expectations to please his creator, a dead steve never there in the first place, and self abuse I don't know much about honestly. Who knows what went on behind the scenes.
Did this Elemental surpass the original Elemental Steve? It's debatable. Did both teach a valuable lesson? Absolutely. Is the RQ Elemental a carbon copy of the original? Oh yeah totally. Never the less, the story of Elemental comes to a close... I think. I'm no mind reader I don't know what Sabre has in store. Unless Sabre posts "the Story of Elemental Steve Rainbow Quest Edition," there could be hope, but now, we can look at the fond memories of a steve whom had good moment's, and bad moments. A steve who cared so much for the people around him, but had imperfect morals clouding his judgement. A steve... who will never be forgotten...

Now if you're someone that completely skipped over that long eulogy to get to the art, I completely respect that. I mean my god I'm already at 3012 words as I write this! Well say no more folks. Let's look at the art and reminisce of the good old darkness days...

I made this comic to test out my new pencil crayons. It's a short comic of an idea of why Elemental would hate Sabre. Obviously it's not cannon. I did change Elemental's design to implement this idea of him losing his arm though. Such as a full lava hand to replace it, and a cape to cover up the incident. Sorry for the blood.
