I just transitioned phones from an iOS operating system to a Galaxy Note 8. With this came the freakishly amazing digital art function. I've been using it ever since to create Star Wars fanarts to drool over. Today, though, I'm going to show you my procedure when drawing digitally. Maybe it will prove helpful.
The primary pencil outline is first drawn by making what looks like a stick figure. Then you fill in the head, neck, torso etc with simple, ovular shapes.
This shows what you'll be drawing with and gives some depth to the final piece.
The secondary pencil outline is used to center the features correctly on the face. The upper line shows where the forehead stops and the part of the hair begins.
The next step is to color (of course).
The secondary black outline is a precaution in case you draw with rough lines or accidentally color over the primary outline.
Hair is colored last so you aren't dancing through lasers when trying to color your piece.
And finally, some shading to give it dimension!
Tip #1:
Outlines will save your life when you are drawing. I have trouble with proportions if nothing is outlined. The pencil outline is what I start all of my drawings with. If you'd like a breakdown of my outline in another chapter, let me know.
