Butterscotch's gender is a . . . Um. Mystery. . .? Technically Butterscotch is inter-sex but they will not disclose their gender. At least not what gender they consider themselves. If you ask them if they're a boy or girl, they will answer "What do you think I am?" To some people Butterscotch is a girl, to some they are a boy. So Butterscotch's actual gender and what they consider themselves, is regarded as a mystery. Hence the question marks in place of the title. No one knows for sure what gender they are so they don't know if Butterscotch is a prince or a princess. And since there is no unisex title for royalty, Butterscotch is simply Butterscotch.
