Crimson "I'm not your sister."

Short story to somewhat explain the picture:

Feather was wrapped around the egg, her only surviving siblings, at least the only ones that mattered. When she'd stolen the egg from her father, after her mother had given it up, she'd watched the swirling of blue and red on the egg. She'd never seen anything like it, but she knew what it was. Their were twins in the egg. A boy and a girl. The colors swirled like they were fighting for dominance. Little did she know an evil was stirring writhing the fragile egg.

When Feather woke in the morning, she glanced at the egg she was wrapped. She stopped in chilling horror. The egg was a full blood color. No blue remained. Grief cursed over her. Feather knew what that meant. The boy was dead. Her brother was dead. Her grief was over washed by anger. She blamed her mother for this, for giving up the egg. She blamed her father for stressing it out by moving it. Most of all, she blamed herself. She hadn't cared for the egg well enough. It was her fault.

Feather wrapped tighter around the egg, ignoring the leaking from her eyes. She would protect her sister with everything she had. She wasn't losing another sibling. She had lost so many already. Not again. Not ever again.

Feather traced the egg with her talons gently. She would give the boy a name, even in death. Luka, he would be Luka. And in honor of the blood they had lost, the girl would be Crimson.

Feather watched the seven year old Crimson boundaries from tree to tree, practicing her balance. The chilling skull still rested on her face.

When Crimson hatched the skull had come to. It had hurt Feathers heart to see the tiny skull of her brother. Crimson had taken an automatic liking to the morbid item. She had quickly accidentally broken the bottom jaw off then gotten the skull stuck on her face. She had been inseparable from it since.

Eerily enough, the skull had seemed to grow with Crimson. Even after seven years of rapid growth the skull still fit perfectly.

Feather had many times tried hiding it to rid her sister of the obsession but Crimson would throw a tantrum and refuse to leave until they found it whenever she discovered it missing. It didn't help that Crimson suffered from violent temperaments much like their mother.

Still, in Feathers eyes, Crimson was perfect. She could do no wrong.

The shattered remains of Lukas skull laid between the two dragons. Feathers eyes were flaming and Crimsons were rage filled, even more blood colored than usual. The biggest argument ever had taken place between the sisters and rash actions had been taken by Feather.

Quickly though the rage faded and something else replaced the look in her eyes. Something terrifying. Crimson slowly slipped into a sly smile.

"I simply must thank you for that. You have no idea how grateful I am." Crimsons voice was sickly sweet. She picked up a piece of the skull and examined it. "Even as an infant the little brat was to pure for his own good."

Feathers face turned to one of shock. "W-what?" Crimson ignored her and turned to leave. Feather reached out to stop her. "Crimson, wait! What are you doing?"

Crimson turned on her, eyes slits. "I wouldn't do that. Don't think I'm not grateful and all, I've been waiting for years, but don't think I'm merciful."

Feather glared defiantly. "I'm your sister. You'd never hurt me."

Crimson growled an flashed out so quickly she was a blur. Her claws scored down Feathers snout. Feather gave a cry of pain. She was lucky she hadn't lost an eye.

Feather stared in utter shock, blood dripping slowly from the deep gash on her snout. Crimson had a temper, but she would never have done that. Not to Fetaher. Feather was the most important thing in her life.

"I'm not your sister." Crimson said, looking completely calm, and then taking off. As she turned, her eyes flashed. Literally, they started glowing a flaming color. Feathers wings were silent because of her feathers, but the drag created meant she had no hope of catching up to her sister.

Feather glanced at the broken bits of skull of the ground. What had she done? And what had happened to her sister?

Hey, so I tried to make it short and still give you guys enough of the story. So, any ideas why Crimson suddenly changed?

If you already know, no spoilers.

Oh, and Crimson is my OC. She's sarcastic and deathly loyal with a massive soft spot for innocents. I want to write I book with a close variation of her and Feathers backstory. Anyway, I'm going to color this later this week (probably Thursday or Friday) and then I'll explain what happened to Crimson.

Well, it's late at night and I didn't spell check so later people!
