Colored Crimson

So, I finally colored her, just like I promised! I'm really stressed and upset right now so it wasn't hard to find the time, drawing is awesome escape. So yeah. Anyway, part two of the short story. < written Friday afternoon. After a weekend of renaissance fair I'm feeling better. Minus a killer sunburn. Also I own dagger now.

Feather held a sobbing Crimson in her wings. Crimson was smeared in drying blood and was in absolute hysterics. Her face was buried in Feathers shoulder and her whole body was shaking from the effort. Luka's skull was clutched tightly to her chest.

It took a lot to make her sister cry. Crimson was scarily strong but right now she seemed so broken.

"I-it was me... I k-killed h-him....I-I-" She broke off sobbing again.

"It's alright, it's okay, it wasn't your fault..." Feather said all the things she was supposed to, but in her heart she knew nothing but time could help. Her sisters heart was broken.

After Feather had broken Luka's skull, it had become quickly evident that her sister wasn't her sister anymore. Feather had been determined to fix that.

It had required contacting her older brother, a not so fun experience she had been trying to avoid. It had also involved hunting down and threatening a dragon with magical abilities and an a lot of head hurting research and lore hunting.

Feather had found out that a long time ago, there were four sisters. Their names had been lost over the years and they were simply referred to as 'The Spirits of Blood'. The sisters had terrified the tribes in life, eventually being taken out. But even in death their black souls didn't stop. The continued their rage as spirits until they were finally locked away forever by the only thing that could stop them, magic.

One spirit was destroyed and the others locked away. Over the years, one sister's sealing magic wore away, and she eventually became free. However, she was to weak to do anything. She needed a host to gain strength. However, she was to weak to even be able to take control of an adult host. She needed a dragonet. More specifically, an infant.

Even as an infant Crimson had shown signs of being powerful. She was a successful hybrid and would grow up physically strong. Blood, as Feather referred to the spirit, had seen Crimson as a suitable host. However, she didn't pay enough attention to Crimson's twin.

Luka had an incredibly pure soul, even from birth. Having the evil of Blood right next to him didn't go over well with Luka. Had he been an ordinary dragonet, nothing would have probably happened. But Luka had magic. Out of instinct his magic fought Blood and attempted to protect his sister.

Luka wasn't strong enough. He couldn't destroy Blood, he was to young and weak. However, he did seal her away, deep inside Crimson, never to be free. The magic cost him his life. And his skull sealed the deal. His skull was used as projector for the magic. It sealed the spell.

When Feather shattered the skull, she shattered the spell. But a spell made with the sacrifice of a life can never truly be broken. If the skull was repaired, the spell would go back into action. That's why Feather had hunted and threatened someone to repair the skull.

Upon repairing the skull, the spell rushed back at full force. In fact it was so forceful that it slung back, dispelled Blood, and in the end weakened her so bad she could never again return to a viable form.

Still, Feather was too late. When she returned, she found her sister covered in blood, crying over the form of a dragon. Feather had quickly whisked her away. After a lot of sobbing, Feather put the pieces together.

Her sister remembered every moment of being possessed. She'd felt every moment.

Recently, Crimson had fallen in love with a young dragon her age. The two were good together and it was Crimsons first experience at all in romance. She was head over tails.

While in possession of her, Blood had literally ripped his heart out. Crimson had felt while the heart of the first dragon she fell in love with got his heart ripped out.

Crimson was now feeling the guilt, and there was nothing Feather could do to make the pain stop. Feather was her older sister, it was her job to protect her. And she failed.

Feather couldn't take away the guilt or the pain, but she would stay here with her sister. She would do as she did when Crimson was young. She would hold her and she would be here. She would be a proper sister once again.

So, what did you guys think? All of this is part of my characters backstory. It is sad, but our past helps shape who we are, and this was part of what brought on Crimson's mercy, her need to defend the innocent.

I'm sorry, I'm being deep and nows not the time. Oh and I'm not spell checking, I'm too lazy.

Also I'm eating microwaved pizza from a bowl. Ha ha. Anyway, peace out people. And do me a favor will you? Have a great week.

Later.

Allons-y!

-Crimson
