That Second Time I Got My Friend To Draw Obey Me With Me

06/25/2023 - 06/29/2023

In a previous chapter, I had my friend Sparrow draw Obey Me with me. He drew Asmodeus (cuz very simpable, fr) and I drew Mammon (cuz I'd already drawn Lucifer and I wanted to go in order of the brothers). We had a lot of fun, even if throughout the whole process, we were complaining about how concerning the art was. (It was the literal definition of trust the process).

Well, soon after that, Sparrow and I had decided to draw Obey Me again. Except this time, there was a little twist. Sparrow decided that we should try drawing a brother each in a more sus way. I had no idea what he meant, so we ended up asking the help of our friends to make up a sus scale.

Based on this sus scale, Sparrow would roll a couple of dice and combining the numbers, that would be how sus our drawing would have to be.

We landed on a six on the sus scale.

Six is equivalent to crop tops (not sure how that works, but okay).

Anywho, we had already chosen which brothers we would be drawing prior to the creation of the sus scale, and the way we did this was pretty fun. I compiled a list characters in Obey Me, and Shigey rolled the dice to get his character. I really wanted to draw Leviathan (since he was next on my list), but of course, Shigey got him instead. -_-

Then, he rolled for me, and I got Belphegor. I'll take that.

I had a general idea of what to draw, but then I remembered this particular card for Belphie, and I immediately decided to draw that. Sparrow at the time hadn't decided on which picture to use as a reference.

Now, keep in mind, all this planning happened MONTHS ago.

We both got busy and we just weren't in the mood to draw.

BUT!

Recently, we both felt like drawing (for me it was because I'd gotten new paint brushes). I really wanted to try out those brushes, but I also needed to get a feel for them and understand how the work, so I suggested to Sparrow that I try painting something first before getting to Obey Me. He agreed since he was also going to warm up for it.

Allow my to indulge you in the fact that though Sparrow was the one who wanted to draw the drawings in a sus manner, he ended up finding a different reference picture that wasn't sus at all (I can't blame him though; the fanart was just too good) and drew that instead. So in the end, I was the only one who drew a brother in a crop top. :(

If you saw the previous chapter, you'd know just how difficult this whole thing was. Furthermore, I only made it more difficult for myself because I was multitasking. If you recall, I was working on the Tarot drawing as well as the Belphie drawing at the same time, because, well, I'm insane. ^-^

I ended up finishing the Strength card first since I got started on it a decent amount of time before I started the Belphie card. Honestly, this is the most art I've done in a long while-

Throughout the whole process, Sparrow and I felt that the process was very difficult to trust and he kept cracking jokes about how he's "definitely" trusting the process (we both were not-). It was very clear that the drawings this time did not go as well as the previous time. Nonetheless, we had a lot of fun a̶n̶d̶ p̶a̶i̶n̶!

Without further ado, allow me to introduce you to the more than 5 hours of pain that we went through!

Here is Sparrow's reference picture:

I told you it's fantastic, didn't I?

And here's my reference:

For any of you wondering, this card is called Make a Wish!

Now, here's Sparrow's sketch:

And here is mine:

And finally, the moment you all have been waiting for, Sparrow's final product!

Is it not so dang pretty!? I adore the ripple effects and just the overall watery theme (It's Levi of course it's watery-). Plus, the hair is so pretty~

Last but not least, my own final product:

As you can tell, the paint got smudged (darn) and it didn't turn out as lovely as I'd envisioned it. However, I still went through more than five hours of this, so I'm cool with how it turned out. I'll admit, I do like the hair quite a bit. It's a rather striking color. Also, I think I was so sad about not drawing Levi that I made Belphie's hair a little too purple-

So, what do you guys think? Who do you think we should draw next?

Until next time!
