This is probably gonna be really bad as this is the first time I have done this kind of thing.

For this tutorial, you need a digital drawing app. I might make one for actual drawing on paper but that's for another day.

Ok, here we go!

To start this tutorial, we need a picture. It can be any picture but I will be using a picture of a human (me!).

((yes, I use an Amazon kindle. Sorry if I look hideous😅))

Next, we crop it down to what we want to focus on. In this case, it would be the eye.

Sorry about the rubbish camera quality. But it doesn't matter.
You need to duplicate this layer two more times. This leaves you with three copies of this picture. You can make a fourth to show yourself a before and after but that's up to you.

Make all of the picture layers invisible (opacity 0%) except one. You will be drawing over this.

On this layer, using an airbrush tool (opacity 10%) begin to remove blemishes, spots, scars and bags. You can create longer lashes and a filled eyebrow. Make sure you use the eye dropped tool to get the correct colours. To make the colours blend and look slightly more realistic, use the blur tool.
When you finish and are proud, you should be left with something like this:

I had blurred everything and added the eyeliner effect too. I had to airbrush over the kindle part. Which was hard.

Now make one of the other layers 100% opacity. This picture would end up covering the colo r later we just created. To create the effect we are aiming for, use the hard light filter on the picture.

You would get slightly more realistic look to it. But it still looks like a cartoon eye. Unless your happy with it, go one to the next step.

Make the third picture layer have the same filter and 100% opacity.

And there it is!

If you have obstructing objects in the picture, such as my kindle, use a soft eraser to rub them out on the other two layers after using the filter. In the colouring layer, just airbrush over it.

I hope this tutorial helped. It is a good hack for making it realistic. I'll try and make some for other facial features too!
