IN MURTHY HOUSE

Ramesh reached home by 8 : 00 PM and directly went to his room to freshen up in his room. He didn't talk to anyone regarding anything which made a bit suspicious but she chucked it thinking he must be worried because of work and will talk to him later. Thinking this she resumed her work in the kitchen and prepared food along with Nandini. While Jass was in her room busy with her studies.

At around 9 : 00 PM the dinner was kept on the table and entire family settled down to have it while everyone was eating suddenly Ramesh asked

NF : Nandu child how was your day

Listening this her food got choked (as she got a complete flashback of Manik in just a matter of two seconds ) but she gave a comfortable smile and said

N : It was a nice day dad

NF : So how is this semesters syllabus and subjects

N : Dad this semester is quite easier than the last one. Infact most subjects are related to common basis.

NF : Very good then you do your best

N : Yes dad I'll try my best

NF : You should after all this time your in-laws will also wait for your result

Nandini gave a shy smile and nodded

Then everybody talked for some more time while having their dinner. It was a cute little family time while having food

Post dinner Nandini went to kitchen to complete the left work whereas Jass again got busy in her studies because her exams are near. When both girls went to do their works. The couple was sitting in the living when out of nowhere Shanno asked

NM : Murthy ji were you disturbed about Nandini's study today

NF : Who said I was disturbed

NM : Ji I am your wife so I can understand you better and your face was really showing that you are disturbed

NF : Shanno I was bit but its not about that

NM : Then tell me what's the matter

Before Ramesh could say anything Nandini came and said

N : Mom I have done my work and now I am going to my room

NM : Yeah sure go now you have to wake up early

Nandini was about to move when her father said

NF : Nandini wait a minute and sit here with me

She nodded and sat on the sofa

NM : What happened suddenly

NF : Wait

NF : Nandini you know we love you very much and want your best

N : Yes dad I know but what happened why are saying this

NF : Today I got a call from your father-in-law and he was asking about your number

N : But why dad?

NF ( smiles ) : Nandu why people get anybody's number only to talk to them

Nandini nodded

NF : So I have given it to him and from now onwards they will be able to contact anytime whenever they wish including Manik

Nandini looked her father in utter shock when he said that Manik can also call her same was the situation with Nandini's mother whereas Jass who came out of her room to drink water also heard this and gave a shocking expression. Nandini's father sensing their shocked faces said

NF : Why you people are shocked I am saying what is right

NM : But Murthy ji

NF : Shanno ( he with eyes shushed her )

N : Dad but you don't like all this

NF : I know my child but if everything is in limits than there is nothing wrong. Moreover if you won't talk to them then how will you able to understand that family and Manik and maybe anyone will call you soon

N : Ok dad

And she stood up again she started to move from there when her father said

NF : Nandu child stop you didn't even asked for Manik's number

Nandini was going to say something when Murthy put his hand in his pocket to get the thing and then forwarded a paper to her. She took it from him when he said

NF : This is Manik's number

Hearing that the paper has his number her heart skipped a beat as she was very scared and confused scared that if her dad came to know that she already has his number then he may get angry confused because he himself has asked her to not talk to him but now he is giving her his number

NF : Nandu child remember one thing I trust you and want you to never break it

N : Yes dad I will never do such thing which will break this trust

NF : Very good my child ( and he lovingly caressed her hair ) Now you can go and yes one thing more no mid night calls and texts

N ( smilingly ) : Sure dad

She left from there also before anyone could see Jass also left to Nandini's room to meet her. After Nandini left from there Shanno saw Ramesh with questioning eyes and he understood the same so he said

NF : Today evening Mr Malhotra called me

NM : Why what happened

NF : Shanno let me speak

NM : Yes tell me fast

NF : He was asking about Nandini's number he said that time has changed and we should also we trust our children that they will never do wrong and disrespect their family so If they will talk then its not wrong so he asked Nandu's number

NM : And you agreed to it

NF : So what should I have done

NM : You can just say no to this because you don't like all this

NF : I know but I didn't want to show them that I am very conservative man whereas its not like that I just only think about society also along with giving best to my children

NM : So are you feeling bad now

NF : No not at all

NM : But you have agreed to this because of pressure

NF : No Shanno I also think its good to change with the need it was just my insecurity towards my children after seeing what's happening in this society but now I think its not compulsory that what happened with others will also be same with us

NM : You are right Murthy ji

NF : Now I also think its better for children to give them time for understanding each other

NM : That's true so that's the reason why you looked worried

NF : Yes but now everything is fine and I am really feeling good

NM : Ok then so now we should go and sleep

Then the couple left to their room Meanwhile when Nandini came to her room she saw Jass sitting on her bed thinking very deeply

N : Hey sis what are you doing here at this hour

J ( hearing this her thought process stopped ) : I came here to congratulate my sister on a new development in her new relationship

N : Again you eavesdropped our conversation

J : Di its not that I came to have water when you all were discussing on this topic so I heard it

N : ok ok now go and sleep you have to go to school tomorrow

J : Yeah sure but once again congratulations

Saying this she left from there. After Jass left Nandini locked her room and kept the slip with Manik's number in the safe of her almirah. Then she took her phone sat near the window of her room and played a soft music while gazing the stars. She was in deep gazing when her phone rang and she picked it up with still her eyes on the stars in the sky
