I wanted to try to draw in a more realistic style of anime drawing, just to try out something new.

I chose pencils instead of marker because I thought that that would be easier to shade and I got nice skin coloured pencils.

I will also show step by step how I draw my OC's (I finally got enough pictures for that (≧▽≦).)

Character: An OC in a more sci-fi like setting ( I mean the 'hunger games' kind of sci-fi not the 'evangelion' kind of sci-fi)

I like the drawing, especially the hair. It took a lot of time to get all the porportions and shading right and still managed to mess up the mouth... Oh well.

Step 1:

Draw a circle and draw a curved line, except if you're doing a drawing of the front of the face then just draw a straight line.
Then draw the jawlines accordingly and draw a curved line from where circle and the jawlines cross, there should be the eyes. Then use the normal face porportion rules to draw the lines for the nose and the mouth.
After you've done all that, sketch how you approximately want your eyes nose and mouth to look.
Don't forget the ear!!

Step 2:

Draw the eyes more precisely. Keep in mind that you can still make changes to other things like the jawline.

Step 3:

Draw the mouth more precisely.
Then check if you want more detail in the nose.
Change what you wanna change and so on
If you're satisfied with the face erase the guides.

Step 4:

Draw the ear(s) more precisely and draw the hairline.
Erase anything you don't want on your drawing.

Step 5:

Draw the hair, keep the hairline in mind.
(Btw, it doesn't really matter when you do the irises, do them when you feel like it.)

Step 5.5:

Make the hair prettier.
If you feel like there's something wrong with the hair, try to make it prettier.

Step 6:

Draw the body.
If you have trouble with anatomy you can use your own body as a reference. Make the pose you want your character to have, take a picture and go from there. Do mind the different types of bodies, your character might not have the same body type as you.

Step 7:

Draw the clothes and accessories.
(The reasons for hiding the face is that I allready began colouring and picked a too bright skin colour, don't worry I fixed it)

Step 8:

Colour it.
Most of the time I also do the fineliner, but not this time.

Don't forget to add little details.
